I have a suggestion for placing a headstone on a celebrity’s unmarked grave: A British actress named Estelle Winwood, who is buried in an unmarked grave in Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles. Her character was the last client that Perry Mason defended in 1966. She also appeared in such shows as ‘Barnaby Jones’, ‘Police Woman’, and ‘Batman.’ She died in 1984 at the age of 101, and at the time of her death, she was the all-time oldest member of the Screen Actors Guild.
I knew who she was immediately. I can't believe she's not acknowledged!
I just saw online that "location of body unknown" this just makes me sad. How can we start a fundraiser to get her a headstone. Prayerfully, they can locate her at Westwood Memorial
Thank you for this informative video and for the work you are doing to provide grave markers for forgotten Hollywood performers.
Estelle Winwood was the rich old lady in "The Producers" who practically assaults Zero Mostel, who wants her to help fund "Springtime For Hitler." She is identified in the cast credits as "Hold Me,Touch Me." At the time, I thought the actress was in her 90's. If she died at 101 in 1984, she would've been 84 when she was in the movie. Zero Mostel was terrified of her. Estelle was also in "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" (1959.) Estelle, Tallulah Bankhead, and Eva Le Gallienne were all members of the Algonquin Roundtable in the 1920's. She should definitely have a headstone!!
Estelle Winwood commented on appearing in the Mel Brooks classic The Producers (1967): "Oh, that dreadful picture. I can't bear to watch it, even on a small television. I must have needed the money - living in Hollywood weakens one's motives. It reminds me of the saying that nobody ever went broke underestimating the American public's taste"
Amazing! Cheers to you for remembering these wonderful actors!
My aunt didn't have a marker for three years. I knew if I died one wouldn't have been placed there. When I found out there wasn't one on her grave I used my vacation pay to buy one.
GOD BLESS YOU FOR THAT-I USE TO HAVE A BOYFRIEND WHO'S DAD NEVER BOUGHT HIS LATE MOTHER A HEADSTONE -HE HAD THE $$$ -SHE DIED UNEXPECTEDLY OF CANCER 😪
That is so honorable! There's a special place for you in heaven! Not everyone would take their hard earned vacation pay to buy someone a marker. I know your Aunt deeply appreciates your loving gesture. Now she'll be forever memorialized.
@DAWN NATH that's really cold! I can't imagine being so unthoughtful. I'm sure he had a good time spending her life insurance. He'll face judgement one day.
@DAWN NATH why is everything capitalized, just curious.
@@spiritthingw I recently saw Paul McCartney's Mother Mary is in an unmarked grave. I thought wouldn't he put something there but it's such a personal thing. John Lennon's grandfather's also in an unmarked grave too. He was a minstrel performer.
The eulogy for Schlitzie stated the phrase "Testaments of love and respect and monuments to the dignity of the human condition." In fact, this is what Scott Michael's does with each of his videos. Scott is a national treasure and we are all blessed to enjoy and learn from his videos. Thank you, Scott.
Schlitzi RIP
You are always so kind. Thank you.
It is terrific what you and Troy do not many people like you thank you so much
@@DearlyDepartedTours
You really are an awesome person and obviously you really care about these people!
A person never really dies as long as we keep their names on our lips. Thank you for all you do Scott.❤
I really love that saying.
It is great work you people do.
The ancient Egyptians believed if your name is spoken you after death, you still live.
It so great that you honor these great actors that gave us so much pleasure
Thanks to Scott, Troy and everyone else who helped make this possible. What a awesome and positive thing to do. Blessing to all of you.
Very cool of y'all to do the " we remembered you". A quick story. My mom's Mom died in 1940. Long before I was born and my mom was only 11 years old. Her mother's grave had no marker. For 25 years my mom visited what she thought was the grave of her mother, my grandmother I never knew. Money became available to mark the grave and the information from the cemetery office said my mom was visiting the wrong unmarked grave for all those years. Grandma Sadie finally got her grave marker and so did the unmarked grave that my Mom was erroneously visiting for 25 years. My family marked that grave also after identifying the person and inscripted was " you were my Mom for 25 years of visiting". We remembered you!!!
That’s such a sweet story ❤️ I’m glad someone else was remembered when nobody else did ❤️
nice to mark the "wrong" grave, too, but in no way should she have inserted herself into the inscription
I disagree. I think because my mother didn't mention herself by name, and the short sentence mention is actually a nice story. @@Marcel_Audubon
@@hughhaefner3317 it is a nice story to tell among your family or to share on youtube, not to have inscribed for eternity on the marker of a total stranger. If I were that stranger, I would be turning in my grave.
@@Marcel_Audubon Ha, Marcel you protest too much. I hardly think the words we remembered you, is enough to want to turn over in the grave. lol.
I can't believe Shorty Shea did not have a marker! You are going to be greeted by some amazing and thankful people when you cross over! Thanks for all you do!
Not gonna lie, that would be awesome.
Mr. Shea was much younger than I thought. I just assumed he was an old Hollywood guy. Good that he was found and remembered properly.
Which cemetery did they say Shorty was buried?
Actress. Born Harriet Shapiro in Boston, Massachusetts, Cabot was raised in eight different foster homes. She attended high school in Manhattan, where she took an interest in dramatics and joined the school dramatic club. She illustrated children's books during the day and sang at Manhattan's Village Barn at night. She made her film debut as an extra in Fox's Kiss of Death (1947). A Hollywood talent scout took her to California where she signed an exclusive contract with Columbia where she played a series of roles mainly in "B" westerns. She asked to be released from the contract when she became frustrated with the lack of progress her career was making. After a brief stint on Broadway, she was once more lured to Hollywood by producer Roger Corman, and made the films for which she is best remembered including 1959's The Wasp Woman. Her personal life included a well publicized relationship with King Hussein of Jordan in 1959, and two marriages both of which ended in divorce. On December 10, 1986, Cabot's son 22 year old son Timothy, bludgeoned her to death in her home with a weight-lifting bar in the bedroom of her Encino home. Timothy Scott Roman was charged with involuntary manslaughter and received a three-year suspended sentence and was placed on probation for the crime.
I think the slogan "We remembered you" is perfect. I'm sure all of them feel honored that you did & that you help others to remember them too. As long as even just one person remembers, they're not really gone.
❤ What a beautiful thing you all have done. These artists should be remembered. 💐❤️
I’m 76, and this brought back a memory that made me feel sad. When I was about 6 yrs old, my stepmother gave birth to a stillborn baby boy. He was buried at Valhalla Cemetery in No Hollywood. They did not purchase a marker and this little baby has been there for 70 years in an unmarked grave. 💔
It's not too late for you to mark your brother's grave yourself ... he's waiting for you.
Valhalla will be able to show you precisely where he is buried if you're uncertain.
Thank you Scott for marking these graves of Hollywood personalities.
My Scottish grandfather had no marker, so I used some of my holiday savings and bought a small flat black marble,
Since I was old enough to go to Funerals and burials for my family , I noticed a small marker that is the resting place of my grandmothers uncle who passed away in 1903 , little Albert was only 9 months old . As we filled the 11 plots since then , his stone marker was broken in half and cemented together . It was on my bucket list and I finally was able to replaced it . Most of my family is there and my brother will take the last remaining plot next to Mom ( his name is already on their combined marker ) . I make sure all the markers are clean and everyone is accounted for . I will be going to medical research for two years and then be cremated and placed in a wooden bust of a Roman Centurion ( don't ask , stories too long ) . I also coordinated Veterans flag replacement for three years for my Veterans group . I spent two years in Germany with the Army and was amazed on how the Germans took care of their cemeteries . One of the reasons I stopped coordinating was because of the terrible condition this cemetery was kept . Ground Hog holes , construction material and discarded materials were allowed to be dumped . I judge a society on how they treat their young , old and dead . This country is in a moral draught as far as this is concerned . I'm 70 now and still doing great ( Karma ) . Thank you and your supporters for doing what you do , you have shown me there are still people in this country who care . God Bless you all !
RIP angels
To those of you that made these tributes happen, this is truly a touching commemorative way of giving back to those that have entertained through the years. Thank you, so very fitting and nostalgic. Well done!
Scott has a way with words! I think he could eulogize anyone and make it sound great!
Scott you are something special-to honor their lives the way you did is so commendable
Scott, I enjoyed this video so much. You always find the most fascinating stories.
God bless you for marking the graves of the forgotten. Everybody's llife matters. Famous or obscure. Being buried by the county in an unmarked grave is one of the saddest things I've witnessed.
My father John Anthony Bailey (sticks downey in Happy Days) is in an unmarked grave in los angeles. I always meant to visit him and get him a stone. He was a wonderful father and actor. Unfortunately I didnt find out he passed until a year after he was put in a mass grave for the indigent of LA. one day i hope I'll get a chance to visit him and give him a stone. I love what you've done for people. Your respect and care for others is truly inspirational
it's been 30 long years ... he's waiting for you... make it a priority in 2024
Susan Cabot's son, Timothy Roman, passed away in 2018. He was found dead in his home in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 55. The cause of his death was not disclosed.

I remember watching the video for the Ken Weatherwax grave marking and I was crying like a baby. Thank you for all you do, Scott.
Scott: You remember the Golden Era stars, when nobody else does. That's amazing.
You’re a very caring kind man. It’s a shame we don’t have enough human like you in this world. This is why I watch you so much. You really care about the people that you go to the graves of. The Lord is very proud of you. God Bless you and all the other wonderful people that show so much warmth and compassion. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😘
Y’all are good people……that was very nice……❤
At Pierce Brothers Memorial Park in Westwood, California. There's an Unmarked grave for rock & roll star Roy Orbison
How can this be? I assumed he was buried near Memphis. He certainly deserves a marker!
The reverence paid to pugsley (?) When they interred his ashes was extremely touching! LOVE that you put a penny in the vault with his ashes! I wasn't in tears before that, but my eyes got awful misty when I saw the whole thing!
I love all of Scott's videos but this is my favorite because it shows the heart of the man. He truly cares about the dead that he honors. I met him on one of his incredible tours and I was impressed with his humor, intellect and his incredible heart. Scott is a legend in my eyes and in the eyes of those he has met and influenced. He deserves more notoriety for what he does.
I hope you do a tour of his one day!!
@@margo_gogofrom what I heard he no longer does tours since he moved away from Hollywood, which is really unfortunate for anyone who never took a tour with Scott. I did take his tour many years ago- I think it was around 3-4 hours long in his van, which was well worth it. Scott is extremely funny and knowledgeable so the tour was the best I ever took.
Extremely kind, thoughtful and generous for Scott Michaels et. al. to go to the effort to mark the graves of these departed friends.
Thank you for caring and for doing this important work!
Ken's inurnment was just two days after my dad died, so I got a little bit emotional watching that one, thinking about where I was that day.
My 2nd great grandfather is buried in an unmarked grave at Forest Lawn in Glendale, but he was far from being a star. He died in 1914. My 2nd great grandmother, his estranged wife, died in Los Angeles in 1945, but she was buried in Wyoming.
You do a great service for those that maybe forgotten or just didn't have the funds for a headstone
Scott, what you have done is absolutely beautiful. I'm so glad there are still good people in this world. You sir, are definitely a good soul. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do.
🕊️🙏❤️
Scott is a real decent humane being. There are so few selfless people in the world, but Scott is one of them.
Scott, what you and your friends did is so very thoughtful. You are right about everyone needing respect and to be cared about. Thank you so much to all of you taking care of these people that mattered.
Scott I think you guys should do atleast 7 nominations each year for burials. It’s really great ways to remember the past
Scoot and Troy you guys have such a kind heart. Need more people like u.
Scott i never knew that you are an historian and give so much time to the lost but yet famous people that we all watched on TV or read about in the papers, living in Hollywood and seeing your tour bus around town I should of taken the ride to learn more about the things we never knew about.
Thank you for all your research and videos!!!
Bless you Scott and Troy..... such huge hearts you both have...
Very kind of you folks to honor these forgotten souls.
The planes fly over on purpose. Every liftoff over the memorial is a salute to fallen aviators
Scott, this is really tremendous. I respect the respect you have for these people and everyone that made it possible to honor them. And thank you for sharing it with us.
I appreciate that! Thank you, Pancake!
Loved this show. Personifies what it is meant by being a decent, honorable person, in remembering these forgotten souls. Thank you!!! Everyone who contributed to this effort 😊 🎉 ❤
Thank you for honoring these people!! You are amazing and I wish I could have taken one of your tours. I will continue to live vicariously through your videos.
I absolutely LOVE this! Thank you for your respect. ❤
Admire your work Mr Michaels….Johnny Arthur…I’d seen him in many films and it’s wonderful that he and others receive due respect. It’s also great that you bring to life their stories for generations who’ve seen them in movies or in credits and wondered about them.
Thanks, Rodney. That was really kind of you.
Very kind and respectful of you and your friends to honor these people! I have been an embalmer for 47 years and I always treat ever person with great respect and wonder what there life was like! Every person has a story, keep up the good work!
After Jon-Erik Hexum’s death he was cremated and his ashes were scattered over the Pacific Ocean. Fans had remarked that there was no place to go and pay their respects to him, and that gave me the idea to have a cenotaph installed at Valhalla Cemetery near his last home in Burbank. His fans and friends, through my website Tenafly Guy, raised the money for the marker and had it installed a few years back.
It really feels good to create a lasting monument, doesn’t it? I smile because his marker is now listed on the sites for celebrity graves. 😊
Jon-Erik himself commented on the planes that flew over his house, he’d have to stop talking on phone calls until the plane had passed and he could continue the conversation. 😂
This is a good thing we’ve all done, and I’m proud of all of us. Thank you Scott, for what you, Troy and the Death Hags have done for these stars that deserve to be remembered. 😊
You did a great thing
Everyone deserved to be remembered...Bless you Scott
Good job Scott. Everyone deserves to be remembered.
Scott you are so compassionate. You are doing a great job honoring these souls.
That's lovely what u have done for the forgotten ❤
Bless you Scott for raising money for these unmarked graves! Susan Cabot story was so sad. 🌺🌺🌺
Wow I recognized so many of these people. Blessed be, thank you for the memories.
No one should be forgotten - Beautiful. A Big Thank You To You All. 👏🙏
Thank you Scott, and all the people who made this happen. I remembered all of these actors, whom you celebrated today!
Thank You for everything that you do for the people that spent their lives entertaining others
That was a wonderful thing you did for past movie stars who probably would have been forgotten by today’s youth. I really like dearly departed tours! Thank you!
How wonderful this is, an act of kindness and remembrance for these actors and actresses, definitely not forgotten thanks to you Scott!
First time I remember seeing Johnny Arthur was watching the Little Rascals many years ago. Always enjoyed seeing Jonathan Hale in many old movies. Was also a fan of the Addams Family growing up. And definitely remember James Anderson from my favorite film To Kill A Mockingbird.
Thank you for doing this. I know a lot of people who have been cremated or who will be cremated and they say they don't want any kind of gravestone but I tell them they should still have a stone because others want to have something to remember them by.
My sister was one of these individuals. She didn’t want a gravestone, a funeral, or an obit. We had her cremated as she wished, didn’t have a funeral, have a gravestone made, or an obit as she wished. She passed away in 2016 at the age of 49 to h years of alcoholism. She didn’t feel she was worthy, she most certainly was. It’s been very difficult for all of us without her. What I would give to pick up the phone and hear her on the other end, to be able to tell her how much I love her again. She was almost 11 yrs older than me, she taught me more about life that she ever knew. I feel like I didn’t have the closure that I had with the loss of our dad in 2012 to aml leukemia. He has a funeral/memorial service, was buried, and has a gravestone. I find myself when at my dad’s resting place, that I talk to them both. Loss and grief is like nothing else, it’s not easy that’s for sure. I’m always thinking of them, no matter where I am, I will carry them with me for the rest of my days.
@@blondieb6946 maybe you can still go on FIND A GRAVE and tell others on that page that your sister cremains remain with family

Hi Scott and trey what a lovley thing to do for people and I am sure the families were very grateful for what you have done and the respect that you have shown to all everyone deserves a marker even if it’s something small
I love this! So glad you are doing this for them, and the statement "We Remembered You" is perfect. No one should be forgotten after death but life has an evil way of making that happen.

What a great thing you are doing for these long lost souls. I never would have imagined that these “famous” people would end up in unmarked graves and nobody would make sure that a marker was placed. So sad.

What a wonderful idea to help with remembering these people. Bless all that contributed. I saw your Keep on Trucking shirt. I saw that the actor,Tony Danza had that tattoo with the words & the man. I remember that being popular in the '70's.

Thank you for being so kind and caring.
It's really nice that you do this. I love old movies and see these people pop up all the time. I had no idea they were in unmarked graves. Thank you!
I remember Johnny Arthur from The Little Rascals that I used to watch as a kid. He would play Darla or Spankys father in the shorts. Very funny actor.
god bless you! Respecting those who entertained us all, and made our lives happier!
That was so special, you all were Angels for the families.
This is truly a wonderful thing you do Scott. I'm touched and impressed by your using the words "We Remember You". All lives deserve to be remembered. How comforting to know that you have chosen to remember people in your special "corner" of interest. Well done.

Thank you for all you do! 💓
this is so nice you folks do this. I have 2 family members buried that don't have markers I just found out like at least 3 yrs. ago. I wasn't born when my aunt passed in 1950 and a half baby brother still born infant in 1969 ( I was 12 yrs old ) I was surprised neither one of them had markers. What a kind thing to do for these people who didn't have the money to afford a headstone or burial plot. It's so expensive to put someone in a cemetery, be it burial or cremation vault.
