- How to 3D scan your car at home. In this video I go over how i used an Intel L515 LIDAR depth camera to scan my car. These are great little cameras because they can be found cheap 2nd hand and have good dimensional accuracy and scale. I could have been a bit more cairfull lining up the scans in cloud compare before moving the fusion360 but you get the jist haha. I put a new video out evey Friday and am aiming for 10,000subs! Please help me get there and enjoy.

Love this AND you scanned a Prelude. This is something I want to do for potentially making body panels and retrofitting a different engine into my Prelude. I'm a new subscriber. Keep up with this project. I'm hooked!!!
I'm using this to fit another engine into my 3rd gen prelude. Will be posting updates here when I get going

The scanned car/part can be edited or it can only be used as a guide to model the car in the CAD software?

Do you think would be possibile to connect the LiDAR to a phone a and send the signal to the workstation to be more free to move? Using something like DroidCam to take the signal from phone and process it away via hotspot wifi?

So just a curious question how long does it takes for games like Forza,GTA,GT7,TDUSC,and etc and vice-versa
Why dont you create a hand held shell for the camera in 3d and print it to hand it better
Great content, I love it! Now I consider buying one of those lidars, unfortunately they are like x2 price here in Europe than the US. Is it impossible to scan the whole car in one shot? You've got a new subscriber!
It's possible to do in 1 go but it's harder and will be lower quality. They are super expensive here In Australia to. I found this one in America 2nd hand and got it posted over.

I think I'm going to buy it as I am planning on doing some carbon aero elements for my car and this tool would be really useful! Just one more question, what format do you manage to export the scan in? (PLY?)

iphone 13 has much better lidar than the one he used
@@aimlessdrive8723 I have both the Iphone 13 and this lidar camera and I cannot say the same. Or at least the apps that I've used on the Iphone were nowhere near as good as that piece of overpriced equipment lol

I'm not sure off the top of my head sorry. Just worked it out trial and error
@@Conorsev cheers, I haven't had much luck, however I was more in a rush to give it ago, then moved houses so the project got scrapped. Must give it ago after seeing your results.
Would this give us texture data too along with the mesh data?
