Thats a good idea! When I first made the blank forms I copied the only thing I had at the time which was the 5e sheet. You are right. Time to get a little further from the 5e one.
I would have made the Grapple on the Claw attack an attack enhancement instead. Otherwise not bad! It definitely encouraged me to try something like this myself, next time I'm wishing for a creature. I really want a quicker way to make humanoid NPCs like certain bandits etc, but I guess I'll make do with stuff there is for now haha
@@RollWithUsDMs you're probably right, they're a quicker way to get there isn't it. I just started to make some goblins, now I'm thinking maybe I should copy the ones from the hunted oneshot
Thank you for your comment. In a one to one conversion, 12 spaces equals 60 feet, but DC20 gives out Darkvision in increments of 10 spaces. I should have mentioned that when I chose 10 spaces instead of converting the 60 feet directly.
Some of the damage/HP conversions feel a bit loose. If HP is quartered, shouldn't regen and damage from running water be quartered to have similar impact? 82hp -> 21hp 10 regen -> 3 regen both of these feel right 20 acid -> 3 acid feels like it should be 5 to have proportional impact Still very much appreciating your process at this point in DC20 development. Seeing more CR1 and CR2 monster conversions would be useful since there's a player level cap of 2 at the moment.
Wow, thank you for such in depth feedback. I do agree with your assessment of the sunlight/running water. Im glad you liked the video. I do have a bunch of lower CR monsters converted. Mostly the ones from Lost Mines of Phandelver. I can certainly do more low level monsters in a video. Maybe a Livestream where I can take requests?
@@RollWithUsDMs definitely interested in more feedback from using low level converted monsters in one form or another. Specifically interested in how you arrived at the hp quartering and how battles feel in low levels. I'm trusting that monsters live long enough to have an impact but not too long. Also very interested because the one-shot Apex Krasis has 30HP and its attacks already deal 2-3 damage which is more than the level 6 conversion in the video. I know bestiary work is being done but that might imply the damage and HP needs to stay higher? We probably won't know until higher level characters are easier to mess around with.
Are you familiar with Mortal's Playground? A lengthy list of D&D-ish monsters which have already been converted. Seems done well, but I'm somewhat allergic to calculators 😅 How feasible would it be to take that extensive list of stat blocks and apply them to whatever monsters one might want? Perhaps not an option if you're on the task of strictly converting modules.... ?
I think its fine if you need a monster in a hurry to use anything thats available. Mortal did a good job and has been helpful to the community. I did look at some of his. Ultimately, I really enjoy converting stuff, so I have mostly created my own. I am almost done with a Novice Level Halloween one shot that uses Coaches monster stats exclusively. That will be the first time besides the Hunted that I run something without homebrew monsters.
A stream for group DC 20 campaign prep would be something I'd enjoy, myself.
I can do a session prep video. I do have older ones where I talk about my prep converting the Pathfinder 2e beginners box.
12:10 You made another box for saving throws. In the DC20 stat blocks, they just put saves in () after the attribute. Just a suggestion

For quickly making humanoids, I would edit the ones Dungeon Coach has made.

I have made my own stock goblins, but there are some in the 3rd DC20 Magazine. That will be on sale soon if you are not a patron of Dungeon Coach.
Vampire Spawn, Darkvision could be 12 squares.

I will try to cover the topics that you have suggested. Thank you!
