And Cedric would never become a Death Eater, even if he became a social pariah and national laughinstock, even if he was constantly disrespected. Because becoming a social pariah doesn't turn someone with a very solid sense of justice and bravery into a genocidal murderer. Someone weaker might have, but not Cedric.
