I always took Snape agreeing to the duel with Lockhart as Snape wanting to show everyone how little Lockhart actually knew about defense, seeing as how that was the job he always wanted

A big thing which also proves Dumbledores big plan which isn't in your video. When Harry forgets his cloak on the top of the Astronomy tower Dumbledore gives it back to Harry with a note "Just in Case". Which proves that A) He followed Harry very closely because he knew where he forgot the cloak B) That he wanted Harry to use it to go after Quirell.

that can be way more easily explained by him simply knowing that the cloak is a death's relic. He didn't wanted for himself, but such artifact can't be wandering around aimlessly. He knew that in Harry's hand, it was going to be used against Voldemort, by the person with the highest chance of success. Even tho Dumbledore does indeed plan ahead, that particular move is pretty mundane. Keep in mind that as smart as he is, he didn't saw through Pettigrew's lies til the very end of the 3rd book. I think that by the end of the 4th book Dumbledore finally realized the meaning the of prophecy: Both Voldemort and Harry are invincible, the only ones that can defeat them are each other, and their clash is not of skills, but of wills. That means all his plans are pointless, he just needs to ensure that harry finds the horrocruxes and that his hearth is in the right place once he faces Voldy.

Dumbledore had a plant challenge, went out of his way to give him points and knew he was the alternate Chosen one. Also, when Fred and George tell their mother who the boy they met is Molly (seems) genuinely surprised. She comments on how he was alone and wondering why. There is one big thing this theory glosses over, and that's Dumbledore being cursed by the ring between OOTP and HBP. That would have upended his plans badly since Dumbledore presumably thought he would survive much longer than he did. I have to wonder what his original plan was before that happened. Once his time was limited, Dumbledore probably then had to hasten preparing Harry and delegate more responsibilities to Snape. You guys need to do a video on what if Dumbledore wasn't cursed by the ring.

I think Dumbledore had to give Harry and his gang that many points in episode 1 to help Harry feel accepted. Remember in the book they lost so 150 points for being out after dark to help Hagrid, which Dumbledore I'm sure new about. And the whole school thinks it was as a prank on Malfoy and nobody is talking to Harry even after all of his success for the team playing quidditch because they think he's selfish. By giving out all the points to take the house cup back Harry's lost points are forgotten and he's a house hero.

And then, Dumbledore gives ten points to Neville Longbottom, and those are the points that makes Gryffindor win the House Cup.

A pivotal moment in Book 7 is Harry's realization about the Elder Wand's true allegiance. This revelation sheds light on the intricacies of wand lore and the events leading up to it.
Dumbledore, in his wisdom, orchestrated his own death with Snape's cooperation. His intent was clear: to die undefeated, thereby ensuring the Elder Wand would not recognize a new master. If simply planning or mock duels could alter the wand's loyalty, then the numerous training sessions Harry undertook with the Dumbledore's Army might have had catastrophic implications.
However, the wand's allegiance is not so easily swayed. The unexpected twist came when Draco, in a spontaneous act, disarmed Dumbledore, marking a genuine defeat. This act inadvertently made Draco the wand's new master. Similarly, at Malfoy Manor, Harry's act of disarming Draco, though unrelated to the Elder Wand directly, shifted its allegiance once more. These events underscore the wand's fickle nature, which hinges on genuine confrontations.
Dumbledore's master plan never accounted for the Elder Wand passing its allegiance beyond him. He believed that his premeditated death with Snape would break its cycle of masters.
Further emphasizing the unpredictability of fate and choices, Harry's presence at Malfoy Manor was purely fortuitous. His unguarded use of Voldemort's name led to his capture. It was this unforeseen twist of events, coupled with Harry's decisions during his captivity, that made him the true master of the Elder Wand, highlighting the overarching theme: power, especially one as elusive as the Elder Wand's, is not always about possession but also about destiny and choices.

If Dumbledore wanted the Weasley's out of the way and wanted them to not invite Harry for the summer, it remains to be seem why that would be. There was no danger at that time.

It's a weird one, and my actual headcanon is JK intended what the brothers said and also failed to realize the problem, but in universe:
Dumbledore has a Time Turner, or at least access to one. Time travel in HP seems to be a closed loop (like in GoT: "The past is written. The ink is dry."). The whole Weasleys travelling to Egypt nonsense happens, leading Sirius to escape. Dumbledore learns of the escape almost immediately and comes up with the plan described in the video, going back in time to do it. Sirius always escapes - because Dumbledore always protects Harry, even if it means going back in time.

Dumbledore assures this by leaving the ring on display, obviously having his wand on him and instructing Harry to keep the cloak on him at all times, even within the castle. Yet Dumbledore, once so driven and blinded by the Hallows and knowing full well that he is dying makes no move to either seize all three or mention the significance of them being in the same room to Harry, instead being content to be the man who united the hallows but explicitly have one still possessed by the only other person in the room.

On a somewhat related side note, Naruto from the Naruto franchise was left with no family to live with because everyone knew he carried part of the Nine Tailed Fox Kurama's spirit within him. The same fox that attacked the Hidden Leaf Village and killed many civilians. INCLUDING Naruto's parents. His father was the 4th Hokage, though Naruto didn't know about this until years later. And his mother was a powerful woman within the Uzumaki clan, who are descended from the Senju clan where the First and Second Hokage were born and raised. Maybe Harry's journey begins in a similar way. Maybe people were more aware of the idea of horcruxes but many still believed that it was a bad idea to split one's soul many times, which further taints the remainder of the soul still left in the body. But one day, some people heard a rumour about Voldemort losing to an infant and that part of his soul was transferred into Harry. So now Harry has abilities similar to Voldemort, and it has people fearing that Harry would become the next Voldemort because he had a piece of Voldemort's soul inside of him, much like how Naruto was ostricized and feared by those around him because he had a piece of the very being that destroyed the village inside of him as well. This probably goes not much of anywhere but the similarities and differences between Naruto and Harry Potter cannot be ignored. Maybe this is a good lead to see where the story could go. Like, Harry lives in the Wizarding world but is feared because he has a piece of Voldemort's soul trapped inside of him, and how the rest of the Wizarding world shuns him out of everything because of this fact.

Is it possible that Dumbledore *wanted* Harry to experience Dementors as a way to introduce him to despair, and then have an opportunity to teach him to fight through it? It also gave him a unique introduction to Lupin, one that adds a dash of trust prior to classes even beginning

The more the plan hinges on the pensive the more I'm thinking that Dumbledore could have used Harry's memory from the graveyard to convince Fudge that Voldemort had returned. The memories were fresh in Harry's mind and he knew about the pensive at the time. They did have more important things to worry about, like the whereabouts of Mad Eye. But this was a possibility, they also could have used this to clear Sirius' name by showing the ministry what went down in the shrieking shack. The man had to disguise himself as a dog to see his Godson on the train to school and was stuck in a place he hated for around 12 months.

So if Harry was "told" the man who killed Sedrick was Voldemort, who could disprove it? Everyone ether thinks hes dead, or is following him. So who knows what he looks like

The saving intent Harry had for all his friends and school definitely would have played into it.
But, I think there was more than that when Harry was brought to Number 4 Privet Drive. The protection Harry had there was a spell placed on the house because of Harry's blood tie with Aunt Petunia that would break when he would stop calling it home (ill-feelings about it notwithstanding). This is not the same as Harry's mother's courageous defiance of Voldemort and her death conferring love protection on Harry. I think Dumbledore created the spell at Privet Drive using the power of the blood connection between Harry, Petunia, and Lily.

The difference is that Dumbledore wanted the powers of the Elder Wand to die with his death because he planned his loss and death with Snape. Therefore, the battle would be even at the end and neither Harry or Voldemort would benefit because the powers ended. Which I'm pretty sure Harry states at the end of Deathly Hallows to Ron and Hermione at the end of the battle (that's why he puts it back in Dumbledore's grave/breaks it, in the movies). However, it doesn't work that way as you mention, Draco disarms Dumbledore and the power remains.

In sixth year in the beginning feast, Dumbledore said that the dark forces have as their greatest weapon the students themselves. Very well thought out! I think this holds some weight, however I don't think Dumbledore thought Sirius betrayed his friends. He actually went AGAINST his pure blood household and joined Gryffindor (a characteristic that goes against the Death Eaters, Slytherin, and Voldemort) and was VERY loyal to James Potter going through school. He suspected that Sirius was the secret keeper, but did not know WHO the real betrayer was. I think Dumbledore knew that Pettigrew was alive (Marauder's map and probably put it in Filch's desk suspecting that Fred and George would find it) and wanted Harry to figure out the truth on his own (thus teaching him the valuable lesson to not believe everything he hears, and to look for his own answers). This was a way for him to disregard what others said about Dumbledore (and even Snape) and encourage him to look for the truth (a very Dumbledore like quality).

I must say, you done well to put it all together, it just shows that Dumbledore was a lot more than meets the eye. He knew everything about people and situations because he was very skilled at occulemence. He was aware of everything and still let it happen. He has been manipulating the timeline since the 80s...or perhaps earlier than than that. He knew more than he gives credit for....and he knows more than he likes to admit. How much did he know? That will remain the mystery, but there is a lot that could have been avoided and changed. Saying that he allowed it to happen is an understatement. He knew about Wormtail, Quarrel and everything else. He knew what would happen that night. if Harry only knew what his favourite sensei/teacher did and has been doing. I am sure not many of us know either, but this story is clever put. Thanks for doing this. Since Dumbledore knew Voldemort's secret, he and Horace Slughorn could have been going after the Horcruxes themselves without dragging anyone else involved. I know the Prophecy comes into question, but still. It could have already been done long before the Potters were sacrificed to make the ''accidental 7th Horcrux....but 7 is what we know of. Since Voldemort lost control, anything could have become one, which means there could be more. As Arthur Weasley once said, ''Dumbledore doesn't miss a trick, he knows everything.'' It does make me wonder a lot here....anyway sorry for the ramble and thanks for sharing .

I think Dumbledore knew that everyone still had their own path to follow, choices to make and dreams to pursue. Could he have prevented certain deaths and suffering? Probably. But to become the person we are destined to be, we have to take the responsibility for every step we make. The villain might die earlier or be sent to a mental institution to prevent harm but that doesn’t mean you won’t suffer, loose loved ones or question your life choices. Precognition can be a powerful tool but it doesn’t make you a god, you aren’t allowed to make decisions for others. You can nudge them towards a direction but the ultimate final decision lies in their hands.
Dumbledore was written to be not only an amazing wizard but someone who knew which things truly mattered. I think he didn’t just want to stop Voldemort, he wanted to bring out the best of everyone. Including Tom Riddle, to the very last moment.
You could say it was the Weaslies fault that Fred died. Since they could have ordered their kids to stay somewhere safe. But nobody thinks that because it was his decision to fight for this cause. Same with every decision Dumbledore made.

Dumbledore knew Neville wasn't the one since he was an infant. He was able to confirm the prophecy could only be about Harry the moment Voldemort "marked him as his equal."

@@francescathomas3502 hard disagree. Your depiction sounds more like MovieRon. BookRon serves as our guide into the wizarding world, he is our connection to the Weasley family and he is on the same level as Harry education wise.
Neville is the one you could describe at useless (for the cause) for the first three books. He is more of a passive and cautious character and I assume he would hold Harry back in the beginning.

That's a good point, Moody should have worn an eyepatch. His magical eye would see right through it, and it would just hide that he has it. Sounds like exactly the kind of thing he would do

The curse that Voldemort put on the defence against the dark arts class I think it must of been a spell to make worst fears come true. Quarrel was killed by a pupil, Lockhart lost his fame, Lupin was outed as a werewolf, Crouch was caught and kissed by a dementor Umbridge was carried off by half breeds and Snape dies a traitor.

I like your reasoning that Dumbledore would have encouraged the Weasleys to befriend Harry, but that would presuppose that she lied to the twins when they told her they met Harry and she said, "is he really? I wondered why he was alone. He was ever so polite when he asked how to get onto the platform."

Well, she could have assumed that Harry was with the Dursleys. She certainly does not know at this point the amount of abuse Harry faced. But I always thought it was odd that muggleborns weren’t somehow guided… The I thought it might be because Harry is not muggleborn so he does not get the standardized introduction but instead the very simple world view of Hagrid, ensuring Dumbledores influence over him. Afterwards the guidance of the very light family of the Weasleys, in Harry’s eyes a perfect family with love and fun making Harry want to belong to this circle (instead of the cold, might driven Slytherins). Leaving Molly highly concerned about Harry (without time to ask why he was so lonely and abused, at least in the first year) helps to let the relationship grow quickly.
