    to your point about iRacing FFB: I drove a Mustang FR500s once at Lime Rock Park and I encountered a considerable amount going into west bend (I messed up my entry, the setu). what was interesting to me was that the steering didn't really go much lighter when I was sliding but the chassis HATED what I was doing. It's hard to accurately describe the feeling because you sort of gotta be there to experience it but it was like it was screaming at me "what the hell are you doing?!?" I think iRacing is doing that too, having the FFB what you would feel at the wheel in the real car. But the problem with that is that as you said, there is a delay in what you see and what you feel because the chassis tells you you're understeering in the real car, not the steering wheel (at least in the Mustang). I personally don't like it either but it might be more manageable if this test was done in a full motion rig, but I'm willing to bet that's a lot of money you don't want to spend right now.
    good video, I subbed :)

      Thank you. I missed this informative reply. Yes, I do agree that when understeer occurs on track is usually obvious but subtle. The subtle piece we can overcome I think, but with IR, the main issue is the delay of the feedback. I think in sim racing, some of the wheel information needs to be exagerated slightly, as we do not have some of the other senses, such as the chassis that you mention. Yeah, no motion for me lol, I may go with a bass shaker though!

    Great comparison!!
    I know you’re a fan of it - I tried the new f1’s on a changeable weather race at Suzuka on AMS2 yesterday - OMG!!! The feeling of the aquaplaning and pull of the water as it pools on track in certain areas plus the updates to the wet weather tyre model are game changing for me.
    Even with the AI - I could actually have a genuine race and the keep up with the AI in the wet, they took alternate lines the spray was unbelievable!
    LMU has a lot of potential but far too many issues with the FFB for me, it’s the same problem RF2 had, one car would be the best you’d ever drive on any sim and the next would be like a shopping trolley with a dodgy wheel. 😂
    Honestly imagine a world where AMS2 had a proper online system 😳

      If AMS2 had a proper online system, we'd have the winner in sim racing. All the choice, tracks, live track etc. A small change to the tyre model is needed too I think, just to make it slightly less forgiving on some cars.

      Well said sir, AMS2 with good online would change the landscape of sim racing in my opinion...

    People are so weong about acc braning its hilarious you wiuld get horrible laptimes if you could do what they say and it ruins everything. So false and im so happy you showed that. They act like you can do anything and whats funny is if you do brake that way and get back on the throttle hard right away which they say you can do you will lose it also lol and you will kill your time.

    • @GSSimRacing

      Yep, it seems like a popular opinion to bash ACC braking, without understanding the ABS system on race cars. Weight pitch still needs to happen etc. The only issue with ACC is that the rear tyres are usually more planted than you'd see in reality...this often allows sloppy braking behaviour. This is proven with the whole negative toe thing and super soft suspension and damping. On a real race car, this would kill you. So, the braking seems reasonable, but it is the other stuff that causes people to think the braking is worse than it is.

    The 296 is notably dull to drive in iRacing. I'd give the Porkie a go for comparison if you have it? What's the story with assists in LMU now, haven't been back to the sim since your video on it?

      It's still allowed in bronze and silver daily races. Weekly silver they seem to be disallowed, and disallowed on gold. I haven't been playing it much though. Been having fun in iracing lately with ovals, open wheelers etc.

      Yeah I am going to try stream something over the next couple of days. I was on vacation last week and returned this week being sick. But it is on my list of things to do. Probably LMU or iRacing...?

    iRacing 💸💸 vs ACC, Winner ACC 🙂 Hands down !!! even if i Racing was free.

    • @GSSimRacing
      @GSSimRacing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is no winner as such. ACC has livelier and more direct FFB. iRacing has the largest player base for ranked racing and choice, anywhere.

      and mickey mouse setups, broken physics. yeah acc wins... not

    • @GSSimRacing
      @GSSimRacing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MM-mx8sr I don't think the physics are broken, but there are some exploits, similar to cooling tyres on the grass in iRacing (unless it has been fixed)? I am playing more IR lately for the added variety and quickness of jumping into a race. I hope IR update the FFB polling rate though from 60hz to a true 360-400hz. There should be no excuses in today's age....unless the underlying physics engine is so old and not capable....which is possible too.

      @@GSSimRacing I'd rather race with better FFB and better Physics than larger player base that 80% can't drive and all you hear is bitching every race when half the cars are taken out on the first lap because they haven't figured out you can win on lap one.Not enjoyable to me.

      @tomtabone7949 this sounds like a low split problem tbh. I've been sim racing for 10+ years on pretty much all sim platforms and I can promise you'll find way more clean competitive racing on iracing than on any other platform. Still will always hate the business model though, so expensive

  • @gsam_dad5540

    Great study there, I always think that, based on iRacing's claim (by so-called influencers) to be 'the best' because of its preponderance online it may be worth considering GT7 as the second best simulator because of the number of people who play it online...in short popularity does not ensure authenticity unless you're a TH-cam schill like Mr Broadbent & such like....always find it amusing that those types always seem to have to find their girlfriends in desperate to get out of a war zone eastern europeans. Great content as usual Gary, nice to see some analysis based on actual usage rather than who pays me the most for my opinion :)

    • @GSSimRacing
      @GSSimRacing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I think when it comes to "best", iRacing usually gets noticed because of the online system and amount of content and disciplines available. However, it is lacking in many areas. Graphics and FFB is one such downfall. Considering the monthly subs they get from members, and the amount of content sales they rack up, it is disappointing to see very slow progress in some of these key areas. The tyre model still needs some work, the drop off in grip from a small spin or slide seems way overdone too....although every sim needs a tyre model tweak for various reasons.
