Food is crazy lately. My partner and I went to shakeshack recently (we drove to the drive thru ourselves to order) and two sandwiches, two small fries and two small (basically kid sized) drinks was $40. It’s not even worth it anymore. Might as well just go out to a sit down place now

$4.99 Whole Rotisserie chicken at Costco and their Chicken has been rated the best over several of even restaurant competitors and if you already have sides at home, you can heat up some green beans or whatever to accommodate it for much less money.

I'll be honest for a moment; the main reason I've been so addicted to watching for these past couple of years is the underlying horror of the spiraling costs of an average fast-food meal being played out in real time. It's absolutely terrifying once you realize that it's only growing larger and larger.
Edit: For example, in his video "5 Spicy Chicken Sandwiches in 1 Day! Will Popeyes WIN?", this sandwich was $4.25. That was only four years ago. Today's was $8.00 for the same Popeye's chicken sandwich.
Pre COVID and post COVID economies are vastly different now. I can't think of any item in North America that has the same price as before and now
The media has trained people to blame the aid sent to Ukraine and ignore the $6.5 trillion spent bailing out corporations during covid, the $10 trillion spent during the great recession, and the $4 trillion spent for two wars, none of which had any taxes raised for them.
Alot of the increase is due the minumum wage increase bs.

I'm not saying fast foods are cheap, they are very expensive. But there's a very specific difference.
Combo price in Baltimore MD $9.49. I have no idea where you all live, but you should move immediately. Sandwich only is $5.49
I was going to make a snarky comment about not wanting to move to one of the most dangerous and corrupt places in America to save on a chicken sandwich. But if you live there and enjoy your life there, I will refrain and wish you continued happiness in your life. The thing I love about popeyes is them putting the buns under a steam roller before every order.
I came for the review and stayed for the elegance of ReviewBrah in this suit. You always look good but today, today you are the epitome of sharp.
This is why I tend to enjoy spending a few more dollars for a complete meal sitting in a restaurant. $17 could get me a large bowl of kimchi stew, plus 5 little plates of side dish foods, and a good bowl of rice with its own lid. The stew itself comes with some flourish, being presented in a VERY hot stone bowl, and arrives to your place while still at the boiling point. Just one example.

I wait for the local coupons to come. They have a 5 pc tender, with 2 sides and 2 biscuits here for $10.99. Still steep in my book. Years back when I was in NJ, they would have a 10pc mixed chicken or tenders, no sides, for that price. Prices everywhere for Fast Food are just getting crazy. Grocery store near me has 8 piece fried chicken for 7.99-9.99, depending on the current promotions. A box of the banquet (frozen) chicken is just insane.
For me, it reaches a point that it doesn't matter how good it is.
Yeah the coupons in my area are pretty awesome. I got 2pc, reg side, biscuit and drink for $6.99, $ chicken sandwich, reg side and drink for $6.99, 5 pc chicken or tenders, 2 sides, 2 biscuits for $10.99, and 10 pc mixed chicken or tenders, 2 lg sides, 5 biscuits for $22.99. Our Arby's coupons are even crazier, and I'm in a major metropolitan area. Deals are out there you just gotta find them and take advantage of them.

I understand costs increasing. Inflation. Rising costs of operations in general. I am not a stranger to economic trends. But you would think that because costs are increasing there would be an equal increase in standards and quality to match. That's not happening. Costs are going up while quality tends to either drop or stay the same. For $30 at any fast food establishment I should be absolutely blown away with the service and food quality.
I'm glad people are realizing that the increase in cost for fast food is incongruent with what we as a consumer get out of the transaction.

I had one yesterday. I agree with your comment about the BBQ Sauce. First, It just didn't deliver on either a punch of heat nor the depth I would expect from BBQ. Maybe they were trying to play safe? My sandwich didn't have as much sauce applied. I would say under-sauced for me. I added the bacon and cheese but here again, nothing special about Popeyes Bacon or Cheese. I think that in general, Popeye's has more breading that KFC or Chic-Fil-A.
Prices are ridiculously high. Only time I do fast food now is if I have a promotional coupon. Has anyone noticed Popeyes chicken sandwiches have gotten smaller? I saw on another review where Popeyes was charging ten cents for a bag.Can you say madness?

I saw that review too and it was for a small bag not a huge bag like this one. I went to Popeye's about 2 months ago, 1 and only time, and tried their chicken sandwich. It was nowhere near as good as the KFC Classic Chicken sandwich. I'll stick with KFC.

I feel that we're nearing a tipping point with fast food. The items are ever increasing in price and largely decreasing in quality, with nothing to indicate the trend won't continue. At what point do consumers just stop buying? When does the pricing structure drive away too many of us? If these companies can still profit when serving garbage wrapped in foil for $8, $10, $12 per sandwich, when do people just give up?
Vapor trails are the primary cause of this.

I tried this today and had the polar opposite problem. I thought the sauce was quite flavorful, but my location was SUPER skimpy on it. it was lightly applied to the center of the top bun in a very thin layer; I couldn't even taste it until biting like 1/3 of the way into the sandwich because it was only applied to the very center of the bun. So despite being so minimally applied, I thought it tasted great, but they didnt apply nearly enough as I only got to taste it on like half the sandwich.

When it comes to any condiment on a sandwich/burger, it's definitely quality versus quantity. No sandwich is enjoyable when it's drowning in sauce (unless you have something like chili or gravy, which turns it into a completely different meal.) I very much don't like mayo but I can tolerate a little bit spread very thinly, but most burger/sandwich places smother it with mayo and it's nigh impossible to get rid of.

The Golden BBQ is $5.99 in NJ $7.79 with bacon and cheese . My last visit my classic was sandwich was soggy very disappointed and they are usually on point . I haven't had this yet.,will report back .
