I had one yesterday… the spices were really nice. The chicken did have a bit of a tough texture at the surface, and i think that is because, even though it is not heavily battered, it IS fried. And tbh i didn’t even mind the texture. It might be the novelty of it, but I might even like it more than the original.
The for "blackened " the seasoning is supposed to create a crust texture when cooked. It seemed he thought the whole thing was chewy and not just the outside.
Every one I've had has been tough like his. I have to bite and thrash like a wild dog in an effort to tear off some flesh. It's a sandwich that requires a steak knife.

I've been getting the five piece blackened tenders ever since Popeye's started offering them...they are always hot, moist and juicy, because they don't cook them until they're ordered and it takes 3-4 minutes extra to get them, but well worth the wait, to me...those blackened tenders paired with their blackened ranch dip is my favorite fast food meal! I wouldn't want a bun getting in the way of that! I think they should offer the blackened ranch dip in a bit thicker sauce for those who want this sandwich, instead of mayo only...just sayin'! I'm sure if the blackened fillet in this sandwich has been cooked awhile, like on the ride home, it would probably lose some of the moisture and get tough...
That's the one thing about Daym Drops he has on Reviewbruh, he knows better than to take the food home. By the time you get home that shit's going to be cold. He eats it right out in the parking lot in his vehicle, the same way I do. Try taking Taco Bell tacos home. They turn into pure mush before you open the wrapper.

However, I think that reviewing chicken sandwiches is not so challenging at all since some of them, maybe, are almost the same differing in the quality of the meat or seasoning. Whenever I taste a chicken patty, I sense a little bit of bitterness from time to time, and I was wondering if it happened to you before. In my country, Argentina, we have a different type of patty certainly known as "milanesa" which can be a slice of meat (cattle, chicken, fish) covered with bread crumbs, then fried mostly. I have to say I've tried the blackened chicken and in my experience it wasn't nearly as rubbery and quite tender. I also got the spicy version which for me elevated the flavor. Overall a solid 8 for me. Great Review!

their chicken sandwiches have had a weird rubbery quality to them since they struggled to meet demand when they first came out with the sandwiches. They probably got a new supplier that injects something to pump up weight.

@TheReportOfTheWeek - you might want to give this another try. I'm a very picky eater and the sandwich I had today was absolutely perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. It was done, but very tender. The pickles and roll were in harmony. Popeye's is so inconsistent, I'm sure it varies by location and time of day. I went right at lunch rush.
You are absolutely right. Popeyes consistently is inconsistent at every location I've ever been to. They really need to work on uniform quality control.
I just tried one, got it fresh from the drive thru and ate it right away. I didn't have any issue with toughness, though maybe it would have gotten tougher if I had let it sit for a while. Overall pretty good! The spicy mayo had quite a kick to it just like the regular spicy chicken sandwich
My Popeye's asked me for classic or spicy when I ordered this sandwich. Definitely went with the spicy. It was juicy and tender, but the saltiest damn sandwich I have ever had.

In 2020 they took away the select breakfast items that used to be sold all day and you could only get them during breakfast. The bagels have been gone for a long while and I don’t think they are coming back here. In the 618. The only good thing at McDonald’s that’s worth the price is the triple cheese imo and that still only gets me going 1 time a month.
As someone in the UK, this is such an amazing window into the wonders of fast food in the US, drawing up a list of things to eat when I visit. Plus just hearing a nice chap talk about food is objectively, fantastic content!
Reporting back. I had it tonight. Exact same problem. Chicken was terribly tough and chewy. The chicken consistency was very much like wet Jerky. It really was perfectly seasoned. But the only the outer parts of the chicken were edible
After your review I went to my local Popeye’s to try this Blackened Chicken Sandwich. I didn’t see it in the menu board inside the restaurant. But they did have it. I wasn’t bad. But in addition to having pickles when I asked to not have pickles, it was a bit chewy. Plus, the bun was probably 1/3 larger than the piece of chicken. Flavor was good.
I love everything about this guy. You belong in Hollywood. You have it all. A look. Very unique. The sound. Definitely star quality. Almost a Christopher Walken type.

I got one the first day it was available and had a similar issue with toughness and dryness. The original blackened tenders are so good, I almost want to ask them to swap them for the cutlet on the sandwich.
Watching several other reviews it's made me want to try it. They had positive comments including how theirs was not dry & felt the mayonnaise played a part in this. They did say there was a lot of mayonnaise. Yours appeared to have not. It's so true how it depends on how it's prepared not only by the location but employee also.
Surprisingly to at least me, I never found Popeye chicken rubbery and actually have it my top fried chicken chain I've ever had. Popeyes does lean towards a very thick chicken paddy, maybe to thick.....Great review

You are absolutely right. Popeyes consistently is inconsistent at every location I've ever been to. They really need to work on uniform quality control.
I just tried one, got it fresh from the drive thru and ate it right away. I didn't have any issue with toughness, though maybe it would have gotten tougher if I had let it sit for a while. Overall pretty good! The spicy mayo had quite a kick to it just like the regular spicy chicken sandwich
Yep great at the restaurant. Like most fast foods doesn't travel well.

My Popeye's asked me for classic or spicy when I ordered this sandwich. Definitely went with the spicy. It was juicy and tender, but the saltiest damn sandwich I have ever had.
It was delicious but it def was salty!
@@noahahmed8247 even from my experience cooking blackened chicken at home, it’s really easy to make that spice rub too salty. It sucks that they didn’t test the ratios that much before sending it out
Not sure if mcdonalds brought back the steak egg and cheese bagel in your area but if they have I'd like to see your thoughts on it.

In 2020 they took away the select breakfast items that used to be sold all day and you could only get them during breakfast. The bagels have been gone for a long while and I don’t think they are coming back here. In the 618. The only good thing at McDonald’s that’s worth the price is the triple cheese imo and that still only gets me going 1 time a month.
In Nevada the in store breakfast menus have shown them for 4 years, but they've never been available.

As someone in the UK, this is such an amazing window into the wonders of fast food in the US, drawing up a list of things to eat when I visit. Plus just hearing a nice chap talk about food is objectively, fantastic content!
I suggest steering clear of American fast food. I'm afraid if you do try it, you'll be ready to declare war on America. LOL!

Reporting back. I had it tonight. Exact same problem. Chicken was terribly tough and chewy. The chicken consistency was very much like wet Jerky. It really was perfectly seasoned. But the only the outer parts of the chicken were edible

After your review I went to my local Popeye’s to try this Blackened Chicken Sandwich. I didn’t see it in the menu board inside the restaurant. But they did have it. I wasn’t bad. But in addition to having pickles when I asked to not have pickles, it was a bit chewy. Plus, the bun was probably 1/3 larger than the piece of chicken. Flavor was good.

I got one the first day it was available and had a similar issue with toughness and dryness. The original blackened tenders are so good, I almost want to ask them to swap them for the cutlet on the sandwich.
I think this needs a revisit. I had one of these sandwiches tonight out of the fridge and ate it cold. Delicious. Tender. Flavorful!

The one I got was very tough as was a co workers. Also the chicken patty was noticeably smaller than the breaded version.

Watching several other reviews it's made me want to try it. They had positive comments including how theirs was not dry & felt the mayonnaise played a part in this. They did say there was a lot of mayonnaise. Yours appeared to have not. It's so true how it depends on how it's prepared not only by the location but employee also.
I always get the blackened chicken strips. Always fresh off the fryer and SO good.

Surprisingly to at least me, I never found Popeye chicken rubbery and actually have it my top fried chicken chain I've ever had. Popeyes does lean towards a very thick chicken paddy, maybe to thick.....Great review
