My interest in the wild west was first triggered by the films I saw as a kid , being brought up in a minning village in the northern UK it a seemed very exciting . Now as an adult my interest remains together with an interest in history generally . I rate the work of Burns as so.e of the best ɓut your stuff gives the details that provide the flesh on the bones described by others. Exciting it was but equally brutal and deadly . Thank you .

If you're into The Story, not just His-story, you'll appreciate finding William and Ariel Durant, I assure you. Be well

Thank you for correctly explaining the true history and meaning of "decimation". I'm so tired of hearing so called educated people misusing the term, usually to describe events closer to annhialation.

Fun fact Walker died before Samuel Colt finished the revolvers known as the Walker Colt And the Walker Colt was the most powerful handgun ever made until the development of the 357 magnum

Even at that late date, the 1840s, soldiers riding horses into battle with Lance's (like knights fighting in the Wars of the Roses).

Seems Rangers of that time always carried a blade.
