A Maker's Wardrobe Capsule: 20 Pieces To Look Stylish In 2024

- I am excited to share my pastel-themed winter capsule wardrobe selection for 2024, comprising 20 essential clothing pieces, some of which I made myself.
I drew inspiration from my colour analysis and body shape, defining my style with cool tones and medium to high contrast needs. I want to emphasise my journey of gaining confidence through a wardrobe course that helped me discover my personal style and body type. In my winter capsule wardrobe, you will find a mix of bottoms, tops, layering pieces, jackets, and a denim dress, many of which I sewed myself. I wanted to incorporate jewellery to add contrast and personality to my outfits, so I will showcase a selection of necklaces and explain their suitability with the chosen attire.

I am an artist, author, crafter, jewely designer, quilter and I love to sew. By all means include showing us how you create clothing. You are unique, feminine and as you confessed, edgy. So am I. :) I am inspired and learn something new from you with everry video! It's a lot of work for you and I appreciate what you share!
Thank you so much Darlene. I really appreciate that you appreciate how much work it is to bring you the tutorials. You're a woman after my own heart I think.
Great video. Would love to see you make some clothes. ❤❤❤
Thank you Rhona.
Carol, this is so incredibly inspiring! You have shared so much about how and where you gathered all your wardrobe pieces! I would love to learn what you have learned!
Thank you so much. It's taken me years of trial and error to get to the point where I'm happy with my style. Imogen's course is amazing and gets you on the right path.
Awesome!!! You are so multi-talented!!!!!
Thank you so much, Beth.
Carol! You are such a talented lady! I’m amazed that you make the majority of your clothes!
Thanks for sharing… I’m not sure I could commit to a capsule wardrobe, but I like the concept of it.
Thank you Marjorie. The wonderful thing about a capsule is that you can make it as large as you want. I limited myself to 20 pieces to challenge myself. It's been fun and made me think about putting these pieces together in different ways. You might be surprised how many outfits you can make from 20 items.
Dear Carol, your colours and combinations are absolutely amazing, i love them. ❤ I love the way You present! A Big hug from far away, Germany ❤❤❤
Hello from New Zealand. It's so nice to hear where people are from. I have some very dear friends in Germany and can't wait to visit them sometime soon. Thank you so much.
You are very talented, jewelry and sewing! Thank you for a great video.
Thank you Rachel. We've only just gotten to the tip of the ice berg - I make all kinds of things!
I didn't know you could sew, those clothes look amazing. It would be nice to see some tutorials. By the way, nice style, love the colors ❤
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that.
You have inspired me to start sewing my clothes again! Those patterns look great.
Thank you so much Linda. I'm so pleased that you got some value from this. Have fun! Just be aware that Style Arc patterns don't have very good instructions.
Great video Carol! ❤
Thank you so much Maree.
You absolutely amaze me! Thank you for this episode. And YES on watching something you sew. Please share your complete outfits when you post a new episode.
Thank you so much Susan. I'm working on an outfits episode for later this week.
This is so cool! You’re so talented. Thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you so much, Kadey. I've just checked out your channel and have subscribed. I love to cook too.
Just looove those colours!😍 Theese are my colours too, a summer type! I’ll try and get hold of a purple jacket and pants! In Sweden you need layering and thermo pieces for winter too! Light aqua is also a new favourite! 😅
Bye from 🇸🇪🌍🌤🌸🌿
Hello Anika from Sweden. Lovely to "meet" you. I did find some similar purple jackets on Amazon if that helps. I linked them in the description. It's US Amazon but I'm sure you can find something similar on the UK one. When I lived in Canada I actually found dressing for cold easier because it was a dry cold. Here in NZ, it's super damp so the cold "gets inside you". I'm glad you liked my winter wardrobe.
I’m so glad to find you! I’m of similar coloring of you, although I’m a bit cooler and lower contrast l but I’m always excited to find another cool coloring person. I am a very tall pear shape. I plan out my wardrobe and sew most items. I selected similar colors for my garments this spring/summer. I’m in the states. But I absolutely loved this video. I get so inspired by seeing how others put their clothes together. Your wardrobe looks great, love the colors.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you found me too. I love colour and putting unexpected colours together. I'm glad you watched even though we are in different seasons. It's not about whether it's a sweater or a t-shirt, it's about putting pieces together.
I've got an outfit video coming out in the next few days so keep an eye out for that one.
Hi Carol. I really enjoyed your video and have fond memories of the time with Imogen’s course that we shared. Love your capsule as it is so colourful especially for a cold New Zealand winter. ❤️
Hi Sue, thank you so much. Yes, Imogen's course is great. I am still an active member of the Facebook group. A group winter capsule challenge actually sparked me to make this video. I haven't seen you in the group for a while.
I went on to Your Type of Style and haven’t been on 7 Steps since then. Contemplating revisiting it though. Your capsule really highlights the benefits of applying the principles.
Thank you Sue. It would be lovely to see some posts from you.
You just do it all lady. I would love to see you do some sewing videos. I have a wool allergy unfortunately.
Thank you so much Celeste. That's unfortunate about the wool. I'm sure you can find other fabric that would work for you. The Debra Zebra tops could be made in any knit fabric.
thanks informative
Thank you Sandy.
Great video Caroland a very put together capsule. Love to see sewing vids as well as outfits😊
Thank you so much, Jacqui.
Carol: I love this video. You said your shape is an H; well…I am a Barrel. I need to wear A Line long dresses. All my clothes have to have empire waist lines. I would love to learn how to sew from your channel. None of the clothes I buy fits me because I am flat chested, and flat bottom’ed, and have a huge stomach. I have to alter all the clothes I buy. I know how to make basic alterations.
Thank you so much, Dalia. Finding clothes that fit every body shape is always a challenge and the body the garment makers use doesn't exist. I also have to alter my clothes.
Your sewing, Carol. Awesome. I need to upgrade my wardrobe. How did you lose the weight? You look great.
Thank you so much, Jane. I did this program to lose the weight - www.keto12.com/ I started in October and my weight loss has been slow and steady. Adrian (who runs the program) is a personal friend. My son first did the program back in 2017 and lot 30kgs in 6 months.
Excellent and helpful video. Who is the fashion colour stylist who helped you with your style?
Thank you Lesley. I did the 7 Steps to Style course which you can find here:

Too many clothes not enough jewellery!. Better video title needed
Thank you for your feedback Linda. You will love this week's tutorial - it's all about pearls.
