I have always loved the tailored look for both men and women. So neat and tidy. Pink has never been my colour. Tight clothes are just too uncomfortable for me. Tiny bags never came to me. I am so glad that tight trousers which show every dimple, wrinkle, bump and muffin top are you departing.
Tailoring is the way to go Gwyn 😃
Personally, I don't care about the trends. I wear what I want, a comfortable quality classic, which is immortal.

@MarieAnneLecoeur I'm only 5ft, so I've felt that for me, the white sneakers fashion doesn't work so well, opting for black neat, Hushpuppies sneakers with casual jeans. With a dress, ballet flats work better for me or a slight heel. When you are small the options are more limited, trying to create an illusion of length.

I live in South Texas. Tank tops will never go out for me in summer. We have 100% humidity and highs in the 90’s for much of the summer. 😅

Well, I live in Central Indiana, and I agree with you ladies. It's actually hotter here right now than it is many places in the Southern United States. People think that we have mild summers in the Midwest. People that think that have never been here in the Summer.

Perhaphs when something is alla moda you feel you should wear it... but when it is not more alla moda you feel "justfied" not to wear it. Sometimes we are not so strong... it is no way a critic to who wants to wear heels... we can wear what we want...

I have never understood the crop top, unless you are a teenager. Even the short tops, they insist on producing are maddening. I am long waisted, and have a hard time covering my stomach. i want the Whole top! I'm glad to hear high heels are heading out. The older I get, the harder they are to wear. I might purchase an off shoulder top, but only if it is long enough. Great video Marie Anne!

Crop tops are there to attract the men. It's well known that a 0.7 waist/hip ratio is a sign of youth, health, and fertility, and men are very attracted to it. (there's actual research on this...) A crop top shows off your waistline. Of course, for the *other* 95% of us, crop looks awful. I've seen a lot of snug snap-crotch bodysuits that are pretty nice; I hope they work for you.
Where then with high waisted bottoms and they look great!

As always, you need to wear what suits you and the particular outfit you’re putting together. I’m liking the look of the waistcoat by itself. I think that would suit me well. I’ve always liked off the shoulder as well. Getting ready to pack for vacation, so I’ll have to choose pieces that keep from overpacking. Merci Marie-Anne😊
Micro bags not practical for me, large totes overwhelm my petite height but I love my crossbody bags
I so like a good tailored waist coat or vest…..so flattering to all sizes and age….and my favourite skirt is a tailored denim straight skirt with a front split…at 72 years it is timeless for me. The flats are so comfortable and look so nice

I always like the humour in your videos. Most of the women can wear red; red and bright blue are the colours that suit me best usually. Waistcoats are a good idea. But I just found one in pink and that looks really great!

Do people really follow these trends? I have so many color and white sneakers…I’ve always worn them both. I guess a sneakerhead or sneaker enthusiast doesn’t really care about those trends. You are going to wear the sneakers that match your outfit.

You're totally right, we still can wear denim as well as light weight cardigans, jackets and blazers during summer here in the UK as we seldom get very high temperatures.

Would you consider doing a segment on dressing a plus size woman? It’s hard to find classic things to buy. The stores that specialize in plus sizes sell garments that are made with cheap fabrics and are not cut right. I end up wearing the same things year after year because it’s hard to find clothing that I like.
I know how you feel. My two daughters are plus size and their go-to store near by closed. Gone. Done. Crazy! Now they go to a department store that has a 'section'. You know what that means: Very limited. "you can order on line from that closed favorite store". Really? And play the back and forth return, buy again, return game??? Who wants to do that? Do the size 6 ladies have to do that? Of course not.
@@roxannegordon6162That’s not size specific. Stores are all going online. I often see outfits online that aren’t available in the store.
I'm lucky that I can still fit into the plus sizes offered at regular stores like Talbots and Soft Surroundings. The quality is so much better than retailers who only offer plus sizes. I feel like the plus-size retailers are really ripping us off. Even the shoes are a ripoff. Over $100 for plastic shoes! It's outrageous.
@@roxannegordon6162Many retailers are in trouble and closing their physical stores. Another one of my favorite retailers just declared bankruptcy and they're closing all of their physical stores, going online only. I fixed the return/reorder cycle by finding a couple of retailers with consistent sizing, and I rarely stray from those anymore. As a plus size woman, it limits my choices, but I still find much more than I could ever need. Once in awhile, something still doesn't fit right, but it's fairly rare. Also, I buy on clearance, and I'm not out too much if it isn't worth returning. I also buy multiple colors of an item that works particularly well. If I buy several colors of the same shirt or skirt or pants, nobody knows or cares. I have a closet full of clothes, even though many of the pieces are identical in style, they're all different in color. For example, I found a cashmere turtleneck sweater on clearance that was outstanding, so I ordered the same one in five other colors. Most of my bottoms are black, so nobody notices the style. I did find a pair of corduroy jeans that were gorgeous, so I ordered 5 in different colors. Absolutely nobody says, "Don't you have the same jeans in burgundy?" I do it with everything- coats, blazers, shirts, dresses, everything. Mind you, I'm not a trendy person, so that's not on my radar. It would be a lot harder for me if I wanted the trendy new stuff every year.

I never got into last year's remorseless pink attack. I heard it was all about tying into the Barbie movie, but who knows?! I just wish it was like the old days when you could tell different designer's collections apart, as they would do their own thing and consumers could chart out their unique looks. It feels nowadays like everyone just copies whichever designer's collection comes out first or Instagrammers or whatever, and then the shops fill with tiny variations on the same basic wardrobe staples in the same colourways and silhouettes. Oversized blazers? Wide cropped trousers? Mesh ballet flats? Just to name a few ......
That's why I just wear what I like☺️

Yes, so hard to find things you like if they are not trendy! For example, this spring I've been trying to find a shorter, feminine spring/ summer jacket with waist definition, but all they seem to be selling is oversized utilitary jackets. Exactly, tiny variations of the same theme, even the colours are similar. So annoying!
I’ve always loved bright pink and it looks great on me. I loathe red on myself but love it on others. This will never change 😂
It's been my experience that the pencil skirt (or that general shape) hitting at the middle of the knee or just below, really works. As for the cargo skirt, those in the pencil shape, not too long, and a lighter material does great, and the pockets aren't a problem. I have several of those. As for high heels - golly gee- give your feet and mood a break and get some of the many great flats out there!
I think knee-length or just below make the nicest leg shape. Just look at the 50's skirts and dresses.
Always liked waistcoats but can only wear the knit ones because the button up ones are a bit too small (or I am a bit too busty) so they don't fit properly. Reluctantly put up my textured cream Ralph Lauren vest for sale on Poshmark after only wearing it once.
I love vests with pants especially and have always worn them.
I’ve always been a stickler for correct fit and vibrant color. Nothing too tight. I’ll even buy things a size big to get them altered to fit
Fit is everything! And knowing your personal colors saves money.

I’m thrilled that heels are out! I have bad bunions courtesy of a teaching position where our administrator insisted that female faculty wear high heels in order to “look professional”. That finally ended when the school nurse brought to his attention multiple articles about how bad wearing heels is on the feet, knees and spine. On top of that I have two replaced knees, and wearing heels makes them uncomfortable. You just made my day. Merci beaucoup, Madame Marie-Anne!

Oh, poor you ! This male inhabitant of the human species should have been forced to walk, stand, run, hop and dance in high heels for just one day. The issue would have been resolved in no time. Personal experience can be soooo instructive.

I followed Marie-Anne's advice on finding a split front denim skirt. I found one in ecru which goes very well with red and navy and it is very long but well cut around the hips. I am getting lots of compliments when wearing it. It is very weird that the material is so thick but the split cools it down. 10/10 advice.

I love the waistcoat idea this summer. Unfortunately, this summer I will be ultra casual so perhaps in the Fall.
This summer are bateau next 3/4 sleeve tshirts, skirts with bike shorts, and tennies (white or various colors). And dresses from polos knit to shoe dresses to sundresses.

Trends seem to come and go at a whirlwind pace! I never got into the pink nor the tank top trends of last summer (among others), so I plan to sew/buy a waistcoat for this summer. The off shoulder tops are pretty. I never thought of buying a waistcoat.
I don't need to buy anything. Red is flattering, part of my year round capsule, as is my denim skirt. I love wearing waistcoats over long sleeved blouses. I still have 2 light weight tailored waist coats from when I lived in the Middle East plus my navy pinstriped waistcoat that I can wear with or without the matching pants. When the weather grows warmer, I have a red checked blouse that always draws compliments, especially when worn with my denim skirt. Nothing to ditch.

I love my flats but other than that I won’t be wearing most of these and I won’t be wearing waist coats. Even back in the 90s in my slim days when they were last in I couldn’t wear them because they aren’t made for women with a large bust. They gape in all the wrong places. I will be changing pink for red when hell freezes over. I don’t wear red, it wears me.
I think the red is wearing Marie in this video. It's probably more that it's too intense than the wrong chroma. I have cool to neutral undertones; my "red" is more of a deep fuchsia or magenta, leaning towards the blue. Scarlet would make me look like a corpse so I don't care how fashionable the color is it's never fashionable for me.

Classic white sneakers are timelessly American, I don't know that I have ever not owned a pair to wear in the summer. They did take over for a while though and will be happy to see some of them move on! Hot pink in classic styles is equally in the timeless American lexicon. I love red as well but a v neck cotton sweater in hot pink is just so much more summery to me than even red. Ralph Lauren was my first fashion influence as a teenager and the Preppy Handbook. I love French fashion though and you are always a great reference point for bringing that refinement to my sense of style! My son will be in France in the fall studying (his college minor is French) and hopefully we will get out there to visit, will let you know!

As a short lady (5 ' 0") I usually wear some height of heels so I probably won't embrace too much of the flats. I like the vest idea but will still enjoy tank tops layered underneath. Hmmm...denim skirts...that would be a fun idea for a casual event with some flats. I enjoy the off-the-shoulder tops too! So many great ideas here Marie-Anne! Thanks for keeping us "in the loop".

I love the deep rose color that's "out" and bought a silk vest to wear over a white T and with jeans and under a blazer. I had a feel for vests last year (I was a trend predictor in fashion) and I'm so glad I bought several vintage pieces. J'adore ballet flats and kitten heels and I love a large, structured bag. Never cared for crop tops and I'm an inverted triangle so no off-the shoulder pour moi. Love your videos - they're so fun!

I rcently bought a post-surgery bra in deep rose. "Out" or not, it's really pretty and does wonders for my morale!
I won’t be giving up my pink any time soon, I don’t have a lot of it,but it’s a very flattering colour for me. I’ve always enjoyed warring it😊

You're right about red shoes, Marie-Anne. I wear my reds this way; medium-height block heels though, not flats, as I'm short - I find block heels comfortable and good for balance. And I used to have a brown velvet wiastcoat, which I loved - which reminds me, also, of the velvet waistcoat that was a part of my Highland dancing outfit, in my teens (that must have been where it all started! )
Me too. I can't handle high heels, but don't like the frumpy feel wearing flats. My sweet spot is also medium-height block heels as it is still very comfortable and give me the boost I need. But it is so hard to find stylish and good quality medium high heels. Which brands do you buy from that you like?
Mid-height (2-2.75”), block heels are my go-to, also, friend. I’m short and I love the extra height, and this shoe style is very stable and comfy. I never could wear high (3 inch and up) heels!🙂

I already have some dresses in cotton and linen, wide leg trousers, a turtle neck sweater, a cardigan, a crew neck leather jacket, MaryJanes, ankle boots and a pair of Superga sneakers, all in red. Trends I will never embrace are cargo pants/skirts, cropped tops, micro bags, ripped jeans to name a few. Although I love wearing heels I'm also happy wearing my ballet flats. I will keep wearing my white -on-pink stripe button down with jeans, denim maxi, shorts etc. I will also continue to wear my “barbie pink” linen wide leg, fitted waist/hip pants with either a cropped blouse (to waist of pants! 😅) or with a tucked square neck knit tank. I’ve kept pops of red in my wardrobe since the 80s… red lip and red bag with crisp white button down + jeans has been in rotation for years. Glad the trend setters have caught up!

I don’t even CARE about fashion and I still enjoy listening to you talk about fashion! This was fun to watch. I sent it to my Mom, who adores fashion and is probably still mourning the fact that her adult daughter does not…. Don’t get me wrong, I like what I like, and find fashion interesting sometimes because of the way it runs in waves, but generally, I wear what I like and try to look At least possible. :)

We are heading for winter but our winter is nothing like yours anyway, so i can be a bit advanced with some of those trends, only the chic ones. Navy linen trousers and a bardot white top is still okay and just ad a red blazer of cardigan when it's getting cooler, always a Wow! Cargo skirt for me...Non!

I have heels, but haven't worn them in years, they are just not comfortable for older ladies and throw one's back forwards. How is your beautiful farm house coming along? Hi French chic ladies, I love flats for comfort, but heel designs look more elegant. Perhaps we'll see some nicer flat shoes due to these trends. I'm going to get out my old favourite long denim dress with front buttons and split. Grrreat. Merci Marie-Anne !

Vests were a super short trend replacement for tank tops in the late 70s. Doubtful it will last this time either. . . Where were they’re any cargo skirts last summer? I haven’t seen any since Titanic debuted in the theater.

As for crop tops - I’m still going to wear mine, sorry 😂. I wear crop tops with feminine fabrics and frills, kind of like mini peasant tops? With the California heat they’re perfect for summer. I’ve had a breast lift and a tummy tuck, so crop tops look flattering on my silhouette even though I’m 53... I wear them with high waisted jeans or shorts, to very casual events only. Come to think of it, now I will need a red crop top 😂

The red looks beautiful on you. I will be mostly wearing flats in the summer, particularly on holiday but won’t be ruling out the heels, I will wear them in the evening. I do think tailoring looks nice and smart. 🙂🩵

Already bought my summer wardrobe. Mostly Talbot & Loft ( not many stores here). Ended up with some dazzling oranges, denim skirt , some dressy shorts, assortment of tops, couple pair of 1” heeled Reikers (black & silver) and a pair of flat sandals. No way am doing colorful sneakers. But I did ❤️ the Tory Burch’s!

Marie-Anne, you look terrific in red and in an all-red outfit. I've always loved it, but after I let my hair go to its natural silver, I began to look a bit washed out, and so I have lightened up a bit to pink. I think in this case I will hang on to my pink sweater and pink blouse (not worn together) because I will look like a vampire otherwise. I do have a fine-knit cotton twinset (Fifties style) in red, and I'll keep wearing it either together or separately. If I want a vivid color these days, I like myself in a solid cobalt blue--lighter than navy. When I began to shop and budget, Amazon started up with a very nice, sturdy ballet flat in any color or print you can imagine, and each week a different pair would be on sale. I got red, white, beige, and a leopard print (crazy!). I'll have those, my cobalt blue Chucks, and a pair of Mary Janes from my closet that are black. I won't replace my white sneaks because they were prescribed, and I have yet to find a pair of flattering sandals. So I'm about half and half.

I can understand the desire for your outfit to not be too busy. 🙂 But I would hate for you to not wear your beautiful handmade jackets! I have seen some very nice photos online of women pairing their silk kimono jackets with a simple monochrome dress. One wore an ivory dress, and one wore a black dress. You could also do navy, or grey, or white. I would go for either a neutral color that is found in the jacket, or a neutral color that compliments the jacket. If you don't have a dress like this, then I bet that a simple top and skirt in the same color would work, too! As with any outerwear, I think the outfit looks best when the hem of the jacket is longer than the hem of the outfit. (Otherwise, it looks messy).

One is just red, the other one just green, both quite voluminous.
I think I should have it with monochrome tee and trousers, because my three dresses are not ( monochrome) and so is my one and only skirt. 😉

The crop top has never been in my wardrobe and looking at some of the people here in the UK who really shouldn't wear it, glad it is going out. I like the idea of red. It's not a colour everyone can wear but I can and I do. So I'm glad I can indulge my red passion. Pink really wasn't me. As for a micro bag, how does your purse fit into it? I like a bag that I can get my book, purse, phone and a few other odds and sods in. As usual, very entertaining.

I have sneakers in colors and even a plaid pair, but everything I see of the new trend in colors are very athletic styles, i.e., gym shoes.
I say you should still wear your non-atheletic sneakers. 🙂 They sound very cute and fun!! 👟 I see non-athletic sneakers everywhere and in more patterns and colors than ever before. So I may be wrong, but at this point, I don't think they are ever going to go out of style.

I’m pretty sure I’ll keep pink, but I’ll happily add red. High heels haven’t been an option for years so that’s not a problem. And cargo anything is no loss, especially as the denim skirt you showed were lovely. And I won’t even mention crop tops… I don’t think I’ve worn one since I was in my teens. All in all, I’ll keep the clothes I find particularly flattering and ignore the things I don’t like such as uber large bags.
But I have to tell you the big chic news from chez moi… after several years of following Marie Anne, I finally have a full length mirror! Finally!

I like the old money aesthetics. I love the new trendy tops. I have been wearing ballerina flats for a decade, pointed for a couple of seasons. White and light blue shirts are a staple in my wardrobe. And skirts! Jeans skirts of both styles you mentioned I got a month ago. A pop of red on top, fuchsia, too. I live in a place where wearing a silver coat is scandalous. I do it anyway. I'm thinking of purchasing two-toned black silver Mary Jane's.

I will still be wearing tank tops, but with a shirt over, as I am 65 and get hot but need to keep the sun off of me! I used to wear a lot of red, but don't have any for summer, I mainly wear navy, black and neutral and pink. I can't wear totally flat shoes as I have high arches. I do have some nice sandals though that are not high heels. I will still wear my white trainers and other colored trainers. I don't follow trends Marie-Anne as I need to wear what looks good on me since I put on weight when I hit the menopause.
