I towed a 40 ft gooseneck Hot Shot trailer for 90k miles with no problems with the factory gooseneck/5th wheel and Curt gooseneck ball.

Perfect video, thank you. Had this option installed on my DRW 3500 when I ordered it. Told the dealer I didn't want any extras that doesn't help it stop, go or tow. Needed to use it just needed this to ensure I had it setup right.

I have the exact same set up. Pull goosenecks weekly, always feel it move on starts and stops. Gooseneck ball overtime is a pain to get out, I’ve got about 30k miles. Plastic hole covers for chain hooks pop out when sliding heavy stuff in and out of bed. I’ve previously had B&W and like them much better. Like you, my truck came with it. Just my 2 cents.

Great video. Ball lock scary stuff with all that play. Looking FWD to seeing your BW installation for proper fix.

I just purchased a 2020 GMC 2500 HD with the factory gooseneck prep. pkg. I’ll be towing a 30’ fifth wheel with an Anderson Ultimate hitch. That slop with the Curt ball is concerning. I’ll check out the B&W setup. Previous TV was a 2016 F250 with a B&W turnover setup that I installed and used with the AUH. Rock solid. No chucking or bucking. Excellent engineered product. Thanks for the video, very informative.

Hey me and you are in the same boat. I just bought a 2019 Chevy with the factory prep and I tow with the Anderson hitch as well with my old truck. Have you had Any updates or issues towing with this set up?

@@TravNasty520 Have not towed yet. I purchased the GM ball kit part# 84759851 (re-branded Curt part). The chain anchors can’t not be used with the AUH due to interference issues. Anderson makes a plate that goes over the ball for attaching chains, I’ll use this method. Next month I’ll be installing the TPMS valves into my trailer tires and setting up the hitch. Then to the CAT scale for some weighs. I did install the ball and attach the AUH for a test fit. Everything seems to be good. No slop in the ball socket due to the way the AUH preloads the ball.

@@ron9857 I would think that when you torque the top bolt on the AUH, it will pull all of the slop out of the hitch. I am interested to find out

@@appst97 I agree on pre loading the ball eliminating the slop. Just happened to finally get things setup today and go for a short drive to test out driving dynamics and get some height measurements. No issues with the hitch setup, nice and quit as before with the previous B&W setup. Leaving Saturday, 6/5 for trip out to S.Dakota. Over four thousand miles round trip. Ill report back with the details.

Without watching the video, what does the engine(L5P) have to do with gooseneck hitch prep pkg? I had an 18 Denali Dually, and the Curt gooseneck ball had extremely loose fit, i tossed it aside and bought a B&W gooseneck kit. The fit was much better, product was better and made in the US with US made steel.

Thank you, for putting this video together! I installed ours and just did not feel like I did it correctly. I'm with you not a fan of the slop, makes me nervous pulling a trailer.

Try B&W drop ball and safety chains. They’re steady and stronger. No play on drop off and safer.

Did you ever get the B&W kit? I noticed that the Kurt kit can be bought for between 200 and 240 depending on where you get it from as long as you're willing to sacrifice not having GMC molded into the case LOL

Once you put a load on the ball I would think that the loose fit of the ball would go away. I don’t know because I’ve never used this type of system to tow with. I’m just wondering if that would stop the loose fit and rattle.

Where do you stow the curt box with all the parts when not using. Doesn’t seem to fit in the truck storage in back seat or under front seats. I like bw flip over storage better.
