Very good video.. i'm trying to figure out how to route drums while using the the mashine in reason. Once I open the mashine software i'm only able to record one sound . When I go to a second track in reason it plays the first recorded sound.. I just don't know how to route . What do I need to do?
Hey. thanks :-). I am not familiar with the Maschine software, but had a quick look at a tutorial to check if it had an output mixer. It does. So the point would be to route each individual track in Maschine to an output channel (like the Output mixer of Kontakt.. The sound of each machine track would then directly be routed to the corresponding output of the VST support module in reason's Rack. On the other hand, if your question relates to input, and therefore to assign each individual Sequencer MIDI channel to a given instrument in maschine... I tried something similar with Kontakt without success. That is something Props will be working on for the next update, I hope .
Hi Keith, excellent thought. A premonition! My plan is to investigate this as priority. Being able to assign a midi channel for each midi track of the sequencer, like in all other DAWs would be ultra useful, and allow to have multiple VST's in a single instance of Kontakt. If I succeed, I'll probably post a tutorial. If not, I'll come back to you in this comment section, and then we could both bug Props for a next update :-)!
In kontakt you can have 16 instruments routed out to 16 separate channels in your audio card for example RME FF802 in standalone mode but inside of reason you can only have them coming out one main master bus plus The delay within the daw is crazy! . I like the vst option but big sessions with tons of plugins Ehh😣
Hi, Having the 16 outputs on a hardware interface, Maybe so, but is it the objective here? Anyway, of course, it is possible. In the rack, you can route directly the audio outputs of the VST support to the main audio I/O interface at the top of the rack... I know, but no need to take a 16 output Kontakt version, if you only have 8 or less mikes to mix. I haven't explored deeply yet to visualise eventual problems. I noticed though big delays with Isotope Ozone, but it doesn't really bother me, as I always mix before mastering, and master only as a final step. Additionally, if I realise in the future there is too much delay, I will just bounce to audio, and mute the track (not delete it, in case I want to change something later).
this video was amazing. a tremendous help. thank you so much!!!!!
thank you Chris, I am glad it helped you understand a bridge between NI and Props!
Love it! Can you please make the same video using ez drummer 2!

pls can you share this TEMPLATE for us thanks
Great video. Really like your TH-cam channel. Excellent information.
Still no separate midi sounds since Kontact is a multi channel plugin reason can only see one patch because there's no midi channels to assign?
