Thank you so much! I am a non-drummer with no experience recording or mixing. I had no idea that there was so much involved in choosing and mixing drums, or that the NI drummer series has so much control over every aspect. These libraries are pretty old (as are many in Komplete 14 that I own), but it seems that you can't do much better with the newer stuff.

This was a great tutorial, really got me up to speed with this series. Well done! I think NI are an amazing company, but their UI is awful in many ways. I've been using Kontakt for a few years now, but understanding and getting to a good workflow is difficult, many things are hidden, the fonts are small, the menus are all over the place...I wish they were more like ableton or Logic, make things clear and let people focus on the music, not on terrible UI.

Yeah it's long, but it needed to be to cover everything. There is timecode for each section in the description. The other option would be to make each section its own video and put them all in a playlist, but that's not as intuitive as having it all in a single video file. Thanks for watching.

Fantastic Effort, I just cant seem to at 40:00 to get the channel outputs to select anything other than st.1, 2, master or surround even though i've gone and created a few mono and stereo channels. Then on logic I'm wondering if bussing the output would be good from an audio channel? Anyones thoughts? Using Kontact 5, even though I own 6,7,8 but just following this tutorial
I have all of the NI Drummer Series. Is it better, in your opinion, than Superior Drummer? I heard a lot about how it is easy to use, but never tried it out my self. Sometimes it takes me a while to get the right sound for the drums with the NI stuff.

I’m using Abby Roads with my edrums is there any mixer controls for the cymbals? Or just the over mics? Hits on cymbals are weak so I had to turn down all of the drums.

You see 4 buttons in the top bar of Kontakt. A disk, a gear, an interface options menu that looks like 3 shapes, and a minimize/maximize button that looks like two squares. Click the button to the right of the GEAR that looks like 3 shapes. You'll get a menu where you can choose options for what you want the interface to show. Click MASTER and you'll find things like master volume, tune, and tempo there. You can also press the F4 key on your keyboard as a shortcut.

You would use the MIDI output of your drum brain and set each pad to play the correct drum. Depending on the drum brain, it may be actual MIDI cables or USB.
This is my go to drums and have yet to come close to this breadth of knowledge. Here's a song I did that I separated the drums in reaper then eq'd and mastered with Ozone 7. Best heard with speakers and subwoofer...that kik drum tho. I appreciate this vid, I'm about to write an album and need to get better at my drums production and sequencing. Most of them do. BFD3, Superior 3, the stuff from Ugritone, etc.... Or just use any sampler. One probably came with your DAW. Or use Kontakt to load your own samples and create a custom instrument.

A new UI for the Drummer series would be welcomed. Breaking it out of Kontakt would be nice too. Make it more like Superior Drummer for example.

Nice! I don't use these as often because they don't allow for stacking/layering kit pieces. But they're great at what they do.
Wish it was possible to blend pieces from the different kits and have access to dozens of snares, kicks etc, on each kit.

there aren't any. they are already panned to the "correct" usual positions. they are captured by the overhead and room mics just like a real kit.

You can change the tempo in your DAW and the patterns sync to that. Or if you are using Kontakt stand-alone, you can change the tempo in Kontakt.
