So, to recap: Shannon Rivers, the Mistress of Mystery, is a costumed vigilante who lives in a mansion, fights crime using martial arts, stealth and gadgetry, and takes in orphaned kids in her spare time and trains them to fight just like she does.

Not something you hear very often...
First time I came here, I was certain it was gonna be haunted; I knew from the start it was infested with Scorched, as i could hear their constant grunting. But as I was exploring the first floor, I noticed the Scorched gradually stopped making noise and id start coming across their corpses. I was on edge and ready to blow something's head off when I turned a corner and found another player; turns out she had been stealth killing the Scorched while I was exploring.
As for the questline, this is my favorite in 76 so far. It really lends itself to roleplaying better than most quests in the game, and it helps that it ties in nicely with one of my favorite "background" stories in FO4, the drama that went on at Hubris Comics in Boston.
just started doing some of the quests at riverside manor. it reminds me of lara croft for some reason. which is probably why i like it a lot. i hope i could do it more than once to capture it on the el gato.

I also just wanted to thank you because your livestreams have helped a lot of people decide whether or not they want to buy this game without having to buy it first. While it is a break from your normal content, a week or two of streaming is not going to change the people who are here for you. You have given us years of Fallout lore and anyone complaining that you've taken a couple weeks to stream this game doesn't understand how this works. You have to play it to get your lore and clips and you might as well play it live so everyone could see whether or not they like it. The same people would be complaining if you didn't upload a video for a couple of weeks. Keep up the good work, Ox.

I agree, I'm not a big fan of Fallout76 but it looks a little fun for me. Plus he does need footage for his lore videos so showing people how the game is while gathering footage for the lore videos is a great mix.

I guess it's just easier to think you know something than actually research it. I'm not saying he doesn't enjoy the checks, but he's not just blindly promoting this game without any criticisms. He has talked about things that bother him about the game. Just because you don't like something does not mean that everyone that does is paid to like it. We are all individual people and we all enjoy different things. We all play these games differently and we all expect something different out of 76. This world would be incredibly boring if we only allowed to like the same stuff. ✌

In a world were Indiana Jones was *actually* shot out from gound zero during a nuclear test, in a leadlined refrigerator (even if he didn't survive, although the impact upon landing can't be ruled out as what killed him), I should say Pulowsky shelters are highly adequate for allowing the user to survive a thermo-nuclear blast.

Just wanted to add you can recraft all the items you get from this questline to higher levels as you level up and get perks for higher level crafting (except the Eye trinket). I have not stopped using the sword or the gun since doing this quest in BETA, though I did switch out the armor upon getting legendary combat armor pieces.
Same here finally got an upgrade in the ski sword from the rose's quests.

I thought as much. The option to craft the garb and sword using the garb and sword was the clue. If I can just figure out how to get the data for the eye of Ra back to cryptos I'm set. b.t.w., anyone thinking the garb isn't practical as armor... well you're right but with the proper perks it's quite viable to adventure in just the garb and it saves the carry weight of the armor you'd be wearing. Just carry some power armor for situations where you need more armor.
I really hope we see a revitalized Order in a future game. This quest line was so amazing and the secret lair is just the coolest. Easily my favorite quest line so far

@@Arbbym9er Naw, its pretty much the fact that he got bought by Bethesda. Fallout is how he gets paid, its to be expected. Him and Juicehead are catching the flack that they asked for. Don't get me wrong, I loved watching Oxhorn videos during Fallout 4 but sugar coating an obviously broken game tends to make you lose some respect from some of your audience.

When I first did this (before seeing the video of course) I was so intrigued, I absolutely loved it. I also liked that the Pulowski Preservation shelters nearby can also be used as an entrance into the secret area. I only know that because I was almost going to die and I was looking for some time to med up.
Oxhorn I know your a busy man man and probably have a very tight schedule but i have a very sinister recommendation about the mannequins in FO76, now I wont spoil anything but look at the pool behind the sludge hole (it's by Seneca rocks or next to the roads of 63. I don't expect you to make a video on this alone but I think it would be cool if you made a horror series for FO76 as I'm loving the game and I love your videos, Thank you.

Oxhorn after fallout 76 has been out for a whie and youve made yur amazing lore videos you should do an indepth mini series on each region like you did for the dlc. You could talk about the factions in those regions and the vegitation and flora i thik that would be intresting and fitting for your channel

I want to watch these, but i can't watch them until i discover these things on my own and then i can come here and have them all neatly tied up! Also ignore the haters, this is a great game, a great buggy mess, but a great game underneath it's admittedly HORRIBLE launch state. Nevertheless, i think fans should be backing it, and hopefully Bethesda does the right thing and kicks everyone some sweet swag or atoms. It's only right for hanging in there while a circus of toxicity continues to be thrown at us.

The lore videos are by far my favorite, especially now with FO76 being a live game, sometimes I don't have the luxury of being able to read all the entries before another player enters the area, and respawns the mobs. I love the mistress’ badass hero story and how her husband was her sidekick/Alfred/gadget/weapon/costume creator. Really cool storytelling in my opinion.
Really appreciate the love that goes into the crafting of these videos, your narration is sublime and you really take the time to let the story soak in as you lay out the lore for us. There's a lot of dedication in your work and it shows. Just wanted to say thanks for producing great content. My friends and I have really been enjoying the game and as someone who loves the background storytelling style Bethesda does, I've enjoyed these videos on Fallout 76. Haven't managed to catch a stream yet, but I hope I can sometime soon so I can let you know how much I appreciate your work.
The question for every Fallout 76 quest: Who was this person? It's like you've stumbled into a statewide crimscene in which the victims are all dead 5 years ago.
Far too often we never know...but their stories are always heartbreaking, just as they always are.

I mean, what are the odds that every single human was either ghoulified, infected with Scorch, or just regular old died just before the vault opens? And it's not even lazy writing to blame, because having no live npcs actually makes quests harder to convey. The entire population of WV just became obsessed with diaries, notes, and journal entries, as if they all knew they were going to die the next day. Amazing coincidence.

My wife wanted this game for her birthday, so i got it. And we are loving this game. Keep doing you Oxhorn, you were part of the reason she chose to get it and it's a great game.
Just finished this quest line and went to see if oxhorn had a vid on it. NGL this was a great example of telling an interesting story without having NPCs, not that I'm upset they're in the game now, but it was always possible and I care a lot more about this than whatever the overseer is going on about
Fascinating how roughly half of this lore video takes place starring at a terminal window, reading the story of another dead person. At least in this format, we have Oxhorn's lovely voice to read these dead screens for us. I really miss the NPC's in this lifeless world.
Though I love terminals/holotapes, I agree. On some occasions, we need an NPC from time to time. That being said, I think that some times many wonderful stories can be told that way, like the Survivalist in Fallout New Vegas.

Justin Ashman That is true Justin. Not that the stories would not be interesting per se, but people would be too bored to listen to/read them. Personally I do take my time, sometimes I prefer it, because I can read faster than listen to dialogue, but I can completely understand people who don't like this.
@@KaRoU323 Personally I think reading is something that's missing from a lot of games. Games are supposed to be difficult, but nowadays the quest trackers automatically tell you what to do, and if you can't be bothered to read a terminal or explore an area it's off to GameFAQs.
Justin Ashman Yup, I know the feeling. Currently been playing Salt Lake Stories, an amazing Fallout NV mod that does not have markers and it's kinda hard (mostly to hints not being detailed though).But in terms of storytelling (not gameplay), I can understand the complaints, even if I enjoy it.

Okay THIS is a cool one. I liked the part where the player has to actually wear the veil to unlock that door. Most games fear that stuff like that would lock people out of content if they can't figure it out and I'm really glad to see that. :)
With all the shortcomings of F76 I personally really like these new lore additions(and I mean additions and not the nonsense where they mess with PROPER lore).
I completed this last night. This is one of the most engaging plots I've encountered in Fallout. I'm not a super hero fan, initially I wasn't too interested but it gets very interesting. If you haven't done this quest hunt it down at lv25+.

Loved exploring the manor and the Order of the Mysteries quest line! So glad you did a video on it so soon!
i like this quest to be honest as teedious as it is, it expands the background of the superheroes and i like they fact they connected the silver shrouds questline with references to kent and the cheesyness of it. i can see them possibly doing a silver shroud and mistress of mystery event/quest in the future. where we get both costumes and gimmicky weapons.
Now, I've only watched the first episode of this series, but I'm not sure how I feel about the mistress thing. I think I'd prefer it if there was a bit more pre-amble to them setting up the orphanage. That is to say, where are they getting the resources to feed, water, and clothe all these kids? I think a line maybe mentioning that since they were rich pre-war they'd stockpiled tons of food, and/or that people regularly attempted to raid their place for their resources might help us get a better feeling for post-war survival. Does that make sense? Sorta like how the survivalist of honest hearts was...a survivalist. It made sense he was surviving.
I just wanted to say Oxhorn I put this quest off as long as possible to enjoy it, and I love the entire Mistress Of Mystery playstyle and how the gear can be upgraded to end game material. I'm changing it a little bit with mutations and grenades, particularly the MIRV and Pumpkin grenades. Thanks as always for the amazing content.
When i play the game and stumble upon these terminals i just ignore them and move on to not spoil the surprise because then i can watch Oxhorn's videos on it and enjoy it more.

In case not many caught it, the framed portrait of the woman in white (Mistress of Mysteries?) could be an allusion to Lady Liberty. If you look at the Colombia Pictures mascot, you can see that she and the portrait are dressed nearly identical with the blue garment draped over their forearms.
Just came across this quest series last night. Looking forward to exploring it fully. Hope you don't mind me skipping this video until then. But thumbs up for what I'm sure will be a great lore video.

the quest starter is a random drop. I just found the dead lady while exploring ,somewhere East of some golf course, I don't remember where but she wasn't on the railroad track where Ox found her
What if the reason the vault didn’t open on time was because the people was still alive. What if the vault had sensors to detect human life and once everyone died the vault doors opened a few days after all human life perished🤔🤔

@Lord Barometer so, you've never played a fallout game for. Welcome to the franchise. This sounds exactly like something Vault Tec would do. That's how I know you've never played before or at least never explored the vaults lol
@Lord Barometer there would be no reason for vault-tec to put one guy in a vault full of Puppets. There would be no reason for vault-tec to put one guy and 999 women in a vault. There would be no reason for vault-tec to put one woman and 999 men in a vault. There would be no reason for vault-tec to make a vault where the door purposefully doesn't seal properly. There would be no reason for vault-tec to gather a group of musicians just to use them as test subjects in White Noise experiments. There would be no reason to put a bunch of drug addicts into a vault together to get them clean and then a few years later open the drug stash room.
With all of the other vaults and their history that we know of, Vault Tec has every reason to do something like this. This is what Vault Tec does. We do know that the overseer kept the door locked for five extra years, but to completely shut down and say it's not possible is just silly because you've been given the exact opposite from this company. This sounds like something vault-tec would totally do and I would not be surprised at all if there is a vault where the doors only open once the sensors can tell that there's no one living outside. If you are surprised by vault-tec doing anything, idk what to tell you. Play the games more?

Oh yes. The mistress of mystery side quest. U get good gear out of this, fudgemuppet did a weapon showcase and walkthrough but i found out about this place when a friend showed me
Lol ox had he found out the actress had been swapped out with a younger model it would have broken his heart. .. well thankfully apocalypse happened lol
Oh and don't forget the scrounger perk isn't automatic it requires a separate button press for "search" to use the perk to find the extra ammunition.
While everyone is complaining about the lifelessness of the world, Oxhorn continues to find the details and lore that make fallout beautiful and intriguing. Yeah this is no Fallout 5, neither does it compare to Fallout 4 in our ordinary gameplay, but I'm loving these videos with your voice oozing with excitement and anticipation.
@Oxhorn Thank you for being a voice of support for this game. Bethesda did some things differently, and many don't like it. Thats fine, people are entitled to their opinions. One complaint Ive heard over and again is the lack of story. There isn't a lack of story. There is story that you have to look for, that isn't spoon-fed to you via conversations and cutscenes. The entire Mistress of Mystery storyline was amazing, and brought about many emotions as we learned more about Shannon's story. I just completed this line last night and I hope that there are more stories as in-depth as this one.

I'm torn, I want to continue watching your content because it's amazing and often finds little bits of detail I missed in my playthroughs, but I also love exploring the world and finding the lore myself.
If you need any help gathering lore in some of the harder instances I'd be happy to help you out, hit a part of the quest line that had level 40-50 scorched and ended up bolting out after finishing the quest. Also got a decent stockpile of 100% Power Cores thanks to Poseidon Energy Plant if anyone needs a few (seriously I have 60lbs of them in my box alone and I can't vendor them >_x)

I don't think those people want to help bethesda in anyway imo. I wish the franchise was given to obsidian or anyone else really Bethesda has gotten way too complacent and money hungry. To be clear people being assholes to oxhorn etc just for playing the game are in the wrong, but man bethesda earned this ire.
Ox, love all your content. Did you know you can upgrade all the mistress of mystery weapons and armor. For example, go to weapons workbench, craft, blade of bastet, and use the blade and some scrap to craft a higher level one. Hope it helps
I gave a hearty chuckle at the goofy yet cool reveal of the lair.
Also as someone who plays a male character it felt funny going through the ranks of a clearly all women faction.

Oxhorn go to the Alpine River Cabins!! This place is very spooky and mysterious and weird things happen there it would be cool to see you do a video on the place. It’s located somewhere around Morgantown.
