Can I just say how much I appreciate your pro-aging stance? It's really refreshing to hear that aging isn't a bad five letter word. I like be 55, I'm beautiful and sexy at any age... as long as I keep believing that I am. And... it's good to get the "real deal" on how to keep the largest organ of our body (skin) in tip top shape for the hopefully long healthy life ahead of us --- while not braking the bank. Thank you Shereene!

Yes, Tia, pro-aging! I've heard that used instead of anti-aging and I love it! Like Shereene said, If you're not aging, then you're dead. And if you're dead then you don't need skin care. ha ha I watch another dermatologist youtube channel and he says, Better old than cold. ha ha I'm 43 and I'm hoping to be like you looking and feeling sexy at any age.

I’m 41 and have had 6 kids. Iv done my best to preserve myself all these years:). I have some stretch marks but those are my battle scars. As I type this my 20 year old daughter is in another state ready to have her baby at any min. So I’m a 41 year old Grandmother 😂. I don’t feel old enough to be called “ Nana” but I think it’s really cool. Life is an interesting process for sure. My motto has always been that I wanted to “look and feel the best I personally can at all the stages” of life and forget a number. Funny thing is when you care for yourself mentally and physically you end up looking younger then you are anyway. ❤

I started using Bioderma micellar water and vanicream cleanser based on some previous videos of yours, and my RL derm gushed about them being the best combo for pro-aging and keeping things simple. Told her about your channel and she said she loves you- always amazing to have my IRL doctors give kudos to my TH-cam docs!!

Budget babes unite! La Roche-Posay Lipikar Wash at $1.26/oz works better than Vanicream for me. And Beauty Pie's Vit C isn't the "best" type of C and stinks, but has great ingredients and is my overall budget winner. And for sunscreen Purito had to redeem themselves so their has all the Korean fabulousness in a 2oz tube (most are 1.6oz for the same price or more.)

It's supposed to provide excellent broad spectrum protection with modern UV filters, and from what I heard, it's intentionally sold at a low price to help people use more sunscreen.

nono, definitely don't use an AHA (or other exfoliants) every night. I think shereene was just trying to give an example of how you'd layer products in a night routine here
she did a video on skin cycling in which she breaks down how she'd have a weekly night routine, in there she explains everything in more detail, she also talks about how often you'd use AHAs in her video about exfoliants
try using an exfoliant either once or twice a week, you can use a retinoid on the other days but if you're starting out definitely don't use an active (exfoliant or retinoid) every night, it'll be too much to handle for your skin and it'll become all irritated and you'll do more damage in the process
too long didn't read: be very slow with building up the use of actives at night, it's a marathon not a sprint and by rushing you'll only hurt your skin in the process by doing too much :)

Thanks Dr Idriss. I’ve learned so much about the WHY behind what we need to do for our skin. It’s been a real eye opener to be encouraged to buy products based on our specific skin issues.
The question I have now is where to go from here. I am 63 and lost 25 lbs this summer. I don’t have big problems with dryness or oiliness, but since losing the weight, my face looks like an ice rink that needs a zamboni. I had the basics you’d expect at my age before, but suddenly the orange peel is all over my face instead of just TZone and lines are cross crossing everywhere. 😢
I’m doing retinol, niacinamide, estrogen cream (shhhh) and peptide/ceramide moisturizers at least one sometimes 2x daily and petrolatum or zinc oxide cream slugging at night.
Is there anything short of surgery that will stop my face from looking like I need to use an iron?

Hello, Dr. Shereene! Isn't it better to use vaseline after moisturizer? The moisturizer wouldn't be able to penetrate the skin otherwise, right? Great video

Hi I was wondering what your stances are regarding skinfixx cleansers? Especially the foaming clay one? I have sensitive acne prone skin and I love it! Also, Tula skincare's cleansers. Reason I mention is that you only mention vanicream (not that there is anything wrong with it). Love your videos! Look forward to them every Saturday!

I have heard using too many products by different brands can be bad for the skin given the ph does not balance the way it’s supposed to when you use products from the same brand(even if different line/skin concern) Is this true? Thank you so much Dr Idriss! Love your videos.

HI!! I am so, so sorry if I missed it, but you said for pm you need "...serum, eye cream, moisturizer...", but i dont see instructions/product recommendations for those? If you have time, could you please advise which budget ingredients and products are good for those? Thank you so much!!❤

Could you explain why your suggest putting the tiny bit of vaseline on under your eyes before moisturizer to retain moisture? I was under the impression that because vaseline is an occlusive, it should be a last step because things can't get through it but also seals all the good stuff in. Would sealing in moisturizer under it just be too clogging in your opinion?

    • @amritaarya2453
      @amritaarya2453 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It's a bit confusing because it's usually moisturizer first and then a bit of vaseline to seal the moisture in . I apply Vaseline as a last step as a sealant.

Yesss I always tell my friends that they don’t need to cleanse in the morning. Just warm water to wash away eye guck or drool lol. Anything more intense will dry out your skin for the day.

Loved the video ❤ How about the people with oily skin? Do you recommend the same? I for example need to use water based moisturizer and oil free sunscreen. I already use the vit C and retinol from L’Oréal and works for me. But I don’t know about the other ingredients you mentioned like lactic acid and peptides 😅 would like to know what are your thoughts for oily skiners 😅 btw live in NYC and I’m 40 if that is important 😊

Loved the bargain tips. Would love to see video using your fade system (just purchased and so excited to start using it). I am a tret user (age, wrinkles and texture) and have also done hydroquinone . I always thought I had melasma but derm recently told me it is sun damage and loss of color. Overall blotchy skin tone with moderate acne scars from teenage years. At 52 now, I want to preserve, even and brighten my dull tired looking skin. So many products and and want to do it right. Religiously using sunscreen but after watching your other videos, I have added in the super goop powder to reapply throughout the day. What products would you recommend in addition to your fade system? And how would you implement them all together with .025% tret. Was a sucker for Musely and got their hydroquinone formula. Would love your twist on this ‼️
