      You can't buy American products on Amazon??

    • @carob3323
      @carob3323 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@PeaceNinja007 Derms generally warn you against this, as you would not be sure that you're getting the real thing. They might be expired or even toxic. I believe even Shereene says that Amazon is not where you should buy your skin care from. The other thing is that when they are on Amazon, they're often twice the price or more.

      Oh .. I mean like everyday over the counter products like say a Neutrogena face wash or something.
      I personally use the most simplest, minimalist and weird products for my personal skincare lol For example, I use pure glycerine and sometimes Vicks Vapor Rub as my general moisturizer after a shower. Sometimes my local store is out of stock on these items .. so I order on Amazon.
      I definitely wouldn’t buy anything that requires a prescription from Dermatologist off of Amazon lol

    • @carob3323
      @carob3323 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@PeaceNinja007 I meant more products with active ingredients, not simple ones. Many cosmetic ingredients are banned in the EU so we don't find the same products. Even something like Aveeno, which Shereene talks about all the time, can't be found here (if I remember correctly). Sometimes even a few products from the French brands that she mentioned, like Avène and La Roche Posay don't exist here either, because they contain an active that is banned or not used at such high percentages here. We just have different stuff in Europe, so it's nice when we can actually find what US derms love and recommend! And this time, all the ones she mentioned were familiar. 😊

      @@carob3323 Ah okay Makes sense I guess. I find it kinda funny that one of the most French products: La roche Posay, is unavailable in its own country of origin lol
      Anyway, I hope Vicks Vapor Rub is available for sell in France. I wish to one day live there for a year in the future.
      .. oh and borax powder too. I use this a lot. I believe i heard it's highly restricted in the EU.

    15:20 The "properties of Avene water" are the same as the properties of Uriage and LA Roche Posay waters, for example. Those pharmacy French brands are named after the location of the thermal springs from where they source it, and they tend to base all their products around the properties of their mineral water.

    • @LaCharmeuseDeNuages
      @LaCharmeuseDeNuages ปีที่แล้ว +11

      This is not entirely correct, these waters have different mineral compositions and therefore different properties.

      I visited French pharmacies in the 80s and I thought they were the most beautiful places ever. Just as pharmacies should be. They were perfection. Beautifully displayed quality products and nothing irrelevant. Here in Australia pharmacies are very competitive and are full of junk quality gifts and foods and all kinds of things that do not belong in pharmacies.

    Hi, I am a skin care junkie and bought A313 after reading an article about it on line. At first, I did everyday and my skin had a meltdown. I took three months off, cleared my skin and started once a week and now am 3 times a week. My skin looks amazing, soo in love. Thank you for an actual review.

    Months ago I bought A313 after watching your video on retinols and I love it! I have had zero irritation with it and doesn't seem to dry out my skin - but, I'm a moisturizing fiend. I use other products, but have no doubt that this has upped my game. My skin looks and feels amazing each morning after I use it - I find I can use it every other day without any problems. I'm 53 and at my last appointment, as my dentist turned the bright light on me to look in my mouth, he stopped and exclaimed, "You have no wrinkles! How do you do that?!" I also use La Roche-Posay Lipikar Triple Repair Moisturizing Body Cream. I use it on my face almost daily, and I love, love, love.

    I started using A313 based on your recommendation in May last year. I started off with 1 or twice per week and increase the frequency as my face can tolerate it till one point I applied every day. Now that I introduce lactic acid to my night routine, I'm using A313 5 times a week and lactic acid 2 times a week. I've seen a lot of improvement on my face. My skin tone is much more even. Hyperpigmentation also improves a lot. It works wonders on my face. I'm on the second tube of A313, Love it!

    Very late to the party, but for the Arnica routine around procedures: it’s actually good to take a few pellets of Arnica Montana (15CH) the day before the procedure, then a few others with higher concentration on D-Day (7 or 9CH), and back to 15CH for the next days, 3 times a day away from meals.
    I also used this routine when I got injured in sports (sprained ankles, bad bruises, etc).
    Also :) the cream version of the Arnica is much better than the gel one, but I don’t know if it exists anymore. The texture was like a mix between la Biafine and Arnigel. And it smelled so good!

    Love all of the brands mentioned in the video, many of which I have been using for years. When talking about the French brands, would add the Uriage one, almost no one mentions on the net. Yes, Europe is a liitle bit on the fragrance side. However, the formulations are well researched and science based. Of course, not all fragrances suit all skin issues, thus I consult my longtime dermatologist on these, since each individual's skin is, well, individual 😊 which also means that my or anybody else's skin is constantly changing (hormones, age, seasons, certain medical conditions, stress, etc, etc). But would also genuinely recommend a selection of URIAGE products as well. ❤P.S. Uriage thermal water is fragrance free and EXQUISITE for all seasons, coming from thermal springs as well + the rest of the ingredients list additionally enhancing other products' effectiveness. Besides that, it comes in all sizes. I'm always carrying one in my purse.

    Dear Shereen,
    can you please make a difference between homeopathy and plant cosmetics?
    As a chemist I can clearly state that homeopathy : so diluted it has no treatment molecules in it, placebo effect only, BUT plant medication: has effects (and side effects) like any other chemical molecule for treatment.
    I love calendula e.g. it makes bruises heal so fast! No comparison to the worthless homeopathic stuff ...
    Love Saturdays because of your videos ❤️

    • @sheenajae
      @sheenajae 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's my understanding that "weak" homeopathic formulations (ie MORE concentrated formulations) containing botanicals can be potentially effective, just not by the nonsensical mechanisms that homeopathy states.

    • @ammonitelight
      @ammonitelight 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It really depends on the dilution strength- many are diluted to oblivion, but some aren't. For example, Boiron's Arnicare bruise gel uses a 1X dilution of arnica, which is a 1:10 dilution, so there's still plenty of molecules left (it also smells like arnica, so there's enough arnica in it to have an odor).
      Homeoplasmine doesn't actually list homeopathic dilutions. It lists all the ingredients in grams. So, it's technically just a botanical based ointment. :)

      I came to say the same. Homeopathy is not the same as pharmacognosy.

    • @SueRosalie
      @SueRosalie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      correct. Homeopathy is quackery. It's just bottled water for gullible consumers. It's not banned simply because it's harmless and governments are not concerned with people wasting money, they just care about harm. In fact if homeopathic products were actually diluted according to the rules of homeopathy, there is not enough water on planet earth to do so. Mathematicians and skeptics have already done the calculations.

    Your french accent is actually pretty great, you should be proud!
    And I agree Biafine is a must-have! For a little while, I low-key wanted it to just be an over-hyped classic product from my childhood, but I've come to accept that it just works better than most remedies for superficial wounds and burns.
    Also, someone recommended to me Metroruboril A.Z by Isispharma, a newer french brand. It has 15% Azelaic Acid (for an OTC product, I guess the legislation in France is different) and it's apparently pretty good!

    Biafine, a classic in France, I don't think I know a single person who doesn't have a tube of this at home. I remember my mom slathering it on my sunburns where I was little. Instant soothing effect.
    My favourite brands from here are definitely La Roche Posay et Avène. I once read an article about the centre thermal d'Avène, it looks amazing, and doctors send people who suffer from high degree burns there, to help their recovery.
    P.S: your accent is amazing!!! It sounds really smart, you could present the evening news :)

    Interesting to hear your take on A313! I had been using tretinoin from my dermatologist for a few years, but after a trip to France in fall 2019 I picked up some of this and decided to give it a try, and have been using it ever since. I was worried that it wouldn’t do anything considering how supposedly weak it is, but my skin has been looking really good. And I have definitely noticed that morning after glow, but that certainly makes sense if it’s more to do with the moisturizing base than the actual actives. I like dotting it on my face, then gently rubbing it in, then covering it with a layer of LRP Cicaplast Baume. PS if your French is considered terrible, then mine is tragique!

    I found out about Avene when I was watching a documentary on her girl who was allergic to water. They basically became a case study but it hard because they had other children but they found a way to get them over to france to bathe their daughter in the springs. It literally calmed her inflammation but the girl was sad should couldn't go back until possibly the next year if they could afford it. However, the father got news that they can get the Thermal spring water from this company called Avene. Now you see it everywhere.

    Dr Idriss - love, love, love your channel. Just a comment that although Homeoplasmine is characterized as homeopathic, it’s actually a natural health (botanical) product in my humble pharmacist’s opinion…this is actually a good thing, because « real » homeopathic products dilute active ingredients so much that I just can’t get behind the absence of science for those. Keep up the great content!

    hello, beautiful... my name is
    Claudia, i'm from Romania but i live in Spain... first of all thank you for all the time and effort you dedicate to this work for our benefit... i'm almost 46 years old and one of the three products i've always used on my skin It has been the calendula cream... when I say always I mean when I have noticed that I need it, especially in winter in my country of origin... the second product is pure glycerin mixed with water... 50/50... in summer 30/70 and cold... what a relief... Spain is a country where there are 3 months of bearable heat and 9 of infernal heat... at least for me... and a lot of humidity...and the third is soap, daily... I've never been able to put up with things on my skin... I immediately feel itchy and start to sweat... it's as if my skin wanted to spit out the creams... could you please make a video with the order in which the products should be used? for example: in the same night hydroquinone and azelaic acid... which should be applied first? Is there a waiting time between applications? 10 seconds? one minute? thank you very much for your attention and stay safe...
