The McLaren was superior from the first race of the season, but the drivers were not able to show it. Oscar because of his experience and Lando because of his constant errors. We had to wait few months to see the domination since the gap between the McLaren and the rest of the pack had increased significantly. Lando doesn't learn from his mistakes, blame others, while Oscar learn at every race and is improving constantly. If he is slightly slower than Lando, he is way more reliable and can compensate the gap. It is clear he will pass him very soon. Lando uses and abuses his status of favorites at McLaren for years against the other driver, but this time, I have the feeling he will lose the internal rivalry war.

I love these conversations. Technical, interesting, fun and engaging. McLaren have a glorious driver line up. Now they are the top team the spotlight is on them. Lando is extremely fast and recent focus has been on his starts. Personally, I think he needs to be more aggressive in wheel to wheel fights. Get his arms out so to speak. Oscar is learning fast and that stunning, sublime move on Lando at Monza clearly shows this young man has intent. Will the close of the 24 season and 25 be these two drivers going head to head for the drivers title. Quite possibly. On current form perhaps Lando has the edge but Oscar is getting stronger every race. It can only add to the thrill for us the audience, added to the Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes closeness of performance. 😊

I think Lando is currently 0.005% quicker in optimal conditions, but Oscar's falloff when things don't go to plan strategically is less than Lando's.
An ideal race goes Lando's way. A messy race is likely to go Oscar's. And Oscar is willing to provoke (but not cause) wrinkles elsewhere in the field.
He's not going to mess with Lando intentionally (they are teammates), but if making a bold overtake on say Sainz helps Oscar's race, but might mess with Lando's strategy, he probably won't back out of it to protect Lando's WDC bid.

It was the 2nd race of the season. As it was early in the season, RB wanted to protect the engines as there is a limited amount of engines they are allowed to use. Finally which is usual for most teams, the driver that is ahead of their team mate gets the first choice in pit stops and that is the team orders that Mark is alluding to. He should be a lot more aggressive when defending against Oscar and if this means making contact then so be it. Maybe McLaren should learn the hard way when they take each other out during a race that they can't let their drivers race this late in the season because then they wouldn't even win the Constructor never mind the Drivers Champs. I bet next time, Norris will close the door, and they will collide.. Piastri will be blamed but McLaren will lose a lot of points...

Why? Because he never took a lesson. He thinks now Lando will let him pass every time he wants. It will not be like that. Unfortunatly for us it might cost us a lost of interesting battle for the title in between Max and Lando. Otherwise, if Lando allows Oscar to pass again - he is not a champion then.
