Friendly reminder that Vergil (on Dante Must Die) with Force Edge melts your two health bars by doing *his standard combo* So yeah, he is a Dark Souls boss before Dark Souls.
The only good thing about Arkham is even the characters in the game are like "You really think this jello mold is the final boss? Yeah, nahh. Just wait." Vergil was a hero all along for stepping up as the true final boss, we just couldn't see it.
The two brothers were my bane as a kid. I remember going to farm to buy three holy waters to kill them for one reason or another I just couldn’t figure out how to deal with them. While not as brutal of a ass kicking I got playing when I was 16 they still give me a thrashing anytime I play the game.
Vergil is hands down my favorite Devil may Cry 3 boss, as well as my have overall boss in the Devil may Cry series. Least favorite is Heart of the Leviathan.
Fun fact. Agni and Rudra have elemental weaknesses so they encourage you to weapon switch. The red one is weak to ice so Cerberus is effective against them and I think the blue one is weak to fire(not quite sure on this one honestly). Think other enemies and bosses have elemental weaknesses in this game too But Vergil is obviously the best boss imo. Least favorite is same as yours. Funny how Arkham's fake persona is a better fight in the end

@@yaboi2500 Glad you added that “arguably” in there because I heavily disagree. I really don’t like the 5 fight mainly because I was spoiled by Vergil 3.
Great list, Demod. DMC 3 fits nicely into my top 5 games of all time, and the bosses are of such high quality that they alone provide enough motivation to keep me coming back to it again and again. I remember saying the exact same thing about Nevan to one of my friends, it's almost unfair that she isn't the best boss in the game. Vergil just earns that by default.

2:19 Vergil join in exchange from Devil Trigger making the battle. HAHAHA OH Man you never fight this boss on Dante Must Die do you ? Vergil is a curse in Dante Must Die for this fight, not only you lost Devil Trigger you also lost your style ability for him, and let's put him simply Vergil sucks in this fight his AI is terrible, the worst part is the boss has a move when he grab Dante and kill him slowly you have to hope Vergil will attack to free you, except some the bastard won't free you. Because of this move alone what is consider the best way to deals with this boss (especially if you want an SS Rank) is to keep your distance and slowly kill him with Guns what a fun fight -_-. You also forgot to mention that in his second and third fight Jester is assisted by a giant ball that attack you in tandem with him.

I don't think this top is based of difficulty. I think it's based on how good the boss felt to play against. Imagine saying that cerberus is difficult. Yes he is but not above beowulf for sure. Eh, I can see it making the game more fun, but I feel like it breaks the game too much. It was balanced around only having one at a time so having them all makes things just too easy imo.
@@sinklar7946 DMC3 is already busted with things like Royal Guard, DTE, and the Ultimate Tempest. Style switching isn’t that broken in comparison and I don’t think it makes the game that much easier even if we disregard those other things. I found Virgil 1 to be one of the easier bosses, in fact i used the mostly the same strat i used against Hell Vanguard. Just melee attack until parried then time your dodge using trickster's sidestep and use Stinger, preferably lvl 2 to close the distance. Said strat doesn't work on 2 and 3 though.
Oh, man. This is one of those games where I'll remember the first time I faced every single boss. This game is so goddamn amazing. I had been waiting for years to get a chance to play it (after watching my older brothers play it when I was a kid), and about a month ago I finally got my opportunity. Anyway, boss time! Hell Vanguard? Yeah, he's aight. I didn't die to him on my first go, so that was nice. Cerberus. What a good boy. But when I first faced him, he was a VERY bad boy to me! I think I actually died to him like four times, and finally got him on the fifth round. Then, when I went back to fight him again at a later date, it was like... ridiculously easy. I don't know if something changed, or if I had just progressed that much. Anyway, it's a good fight. ^^ "Gigapede"? Yeah, that's what it's called. I can beat every boss without items now, but I'll admit I used a couple of stars during the worm-thing fight. It was kinda boring. Next. Agni and Rudra were pain the first few goes. I didn't know they could damage each other, nor did I know how to dodge attacks with finesse. The most I knew was that a jump made you invincible for a couple frames. I must've died to those two six times in total, but I did eventually triumph. Knowing how easy it is to make them damage each other, I don't have as much fun with that fight as I used to... but that's my own fault for not playing as stylishly as I could be. I'll be changing that in the future. So, my main motivation (yeah, ha-ha) for playing this game was just to fight Vergil. I had no idea what he was like, other than what my memories from as a kid told me: he was damn hard. So that's what I was expecting as I went into the first Vergil battle, and then... it was kinda easy? Like, oddly enough, I struggle with the fight more now than I did when I first fought him. I guess it was just the high of Agni and Rudra affecting me. I was in the zone and I refused to die. I knew what was to come, though, so I wasn't disappointed. I like how these bosses sometimes fit into entire different genres of combat. The heart of the Leviathan was one abnormal boss. I actually don't remember what happened during this battle. It was difficult for me at the time, I know that - but I don't remember the outcome, or how many times I died (or if I didn't). It was a boring one. Nevan, though, oh my God. I am embarrassed. See, for some reason I felt like my sword strikes were not connecting with her shelter of bats. So I thought that I had to whittle down her ENTIRE DEFENSE with ONLY MY PISTOLS. That was hell. I wish I knew what I was doing. I think Nevan claimed the most deaths out of me than any other boss, purely because I didn't know how to fight her properly. The other parts of the fight weren't that difficult, either, but fighting her for soooo looong was wearing me down and I fell apart, every time. Nowadays, though, it's no problem. She's a fun one. Beowulf was pretty difficult for me, too, but I realized a few deaths in that he really wasn't that big of a problem. Like you do with every other boss, I learned his moveset and adjusted accordingly. He did stomp me a good few times, but he's no problem for me now. I'm sort of baffled by my performance against Geryon, though. I did pretty bad the first couple of times. Although in my defense, his attacks are the kind that aren't immediately obvious to a newcomer. They're telegraphed, but you can't guess what he's going to do unless you already know what each warning means. There's a few bosses like that in this game - which is fine, I'm not complaining about it. I like all the fights, really. The second Vergil fight... I actually played this one early on someone else's save (I was using an actual PS2 and memory card. OG.), and dear Lord, did I love it. It was so much more difficult than the first Vergil fight, and so much more satisfying to watch. At some points, Dante and Vergil look like they're dancing more than fighting. Anyway, although Vergil pummeled the shit out of me the first couple rounds, I did eventually beat him. Now I've played that battle so many times that it's actually kind of a piece of cake, but that's only because I know it so well. Lady was kind of just annoying. It was a good fight, and it changed up the dynamic that I had gotten used to, but not in the most fun way. That might just be because I set up a false expectation for what the fight should've been, though. It's still a good fight. But Doppelganger? The only reason I have ever taken damage from this guy is when I get bored of fighting him and try to turn the lights on faster, allowing him to hit me. He's just so boring. At least with the Hell Vanguard and heart of Leviathan, I could move around to wherever I wanted. For Doppelganger, there were a select few strategic positions you could take and actually do anything. It is at least minimally fun, but I can't call it a good boss battle. Arkham, though? I mean... I don't really like him. As a boss. Well, not as a person or character, either. I like him as he serves the plot, of course, but... I'm getting way off track. Arkham was a very boring boss, and you end up spending more time spamming Kalina Ann at his slug nuggets than you do hitting Arkham himself. The thing that really saves this fight is Vergil coming in for the second half. Vergil Battle 1, 2, and 3 are all great pieces of boss music, and I love them all so much - but Arkham phase 2! That shit is my JAM! So fucking epic, I love it. The buildup, the fast action beat plus the swelling orchestra... the second half of the Arkham fight is the most immersive experience in the game. I can look past how boring the boss is because of the way that music makes me fucking move. And, dear Lord, Dante and Vergil together absolutely shred that tumor-lookin' ass. Of course, the crowing jewel of boss battles in the game is Vergil 3. This was the moment I had been waiting for, and it was everything I had hoped for. People say that Vergil was really difficult in DT for the second fight with him, but I never really had a problem with it. It's in Vergil 3 where DT becomes a true threat. Unfortunately, I succumbed and decided to use items to beat him the first time, which I regret. It didn't take away too much from the adrenaline-pumped experience, though. However, after I had beaten him for the very first time, I resolved to later go back and beat him without items. I did that. I was proud of myself. But then I thought, "Eh, I used Beowulf... It'd be a lot cooler if I could beat him without that handicap. Plus it'll align visually with the cinematics." So I beat him again, without items and using Cerberus instead. Kinda proud of that too. But NOW, I really want to face him on Dante Must Die difficulty. I'm very discouraged about doing that, though, and here's why: I want to play through the entire game with Super Sparda, because that essentially just makes him his normal self. It's just the pure demon Sparda versus his son, and that sounds really cool to me. He's unlocked by beating the game on Dante Must Die difficulty... but only in the Special Edition. With the original release of the game, I don't have that option available. So I just don;t care as much. I won't feel like a true master of the game until I've beaten it on Dante Must Die difficulty, with normal Dante and no items, so that is one motivation I have to beat it on DMD. But knowing that I can buy the SE game on Steam or whatever and get an extra reward that's very valuable to me, I'm not very motivated. I swear I'm not saying "motivated" as a dumb reference, it's just the word I'm using. I will inevitably revisit this game. When I do, it'll be with the special edition of the game, and I will beat it on Dante Must Die. Then I'll have fun with everything else it has to offer, too. I will come back to this novel-length comment one day...
One month later. Except about a week or two after I would've made this update. I've done it. I beat classic Vergil 3 on DMD without any items. I feel like I've earned the right to gloat.
Oh my Lord, I forgot these comments existed Past me, you should be really proud of how amazing you will become at these games. And you know I wouldn't praise you if you didn't earn it, because you're me
To any newbie who wants to try DMC3 and probably struggling with Agni and Rudra, keep in mind that this type of fight will prepare you for whats to come. My strategy is get both of them down to very low health so they dont get a chance to enter the second phase. I mostly use cerberus cuz cerberus swordsmaster moveset is fast and you can hit the enemies that standing behind you. Good luck devil hunter!!
The first fight, especially in easier difficulties, is such a disappointment, the fact he blocks actually makes him easier since you’re no longer stuck in a long animation. Because of this, every time he blocked, I immediately dodged his attack, since I was now free to do so, and just countered. Easiest fight in the game.
Arkham was a pretty tough fight I won't lie honestly. I had to be super conservative of healing items and not get hit for the second phase of the battle. So, I disagree with that one I do however agree with number one. The Vergil fights are probably my favorite fights in the entire game. Mostly because you're on equal footing, the final fight with him is really great. I didn't had any healing items with me so I just used my devil trigger to heal and do damage. Beating him in the final fight was so satisfying. I much prefer the bosses in this game over the bosses in DMC 2. While DMC 2 had some creative concepts for the bosses; the execution of the bosses is what turned me off. They were just waaaaaaay too easy and were a joke. The final boss in DMC 2 was actually not bad compared to the rest. Except for the helicopter and tank bosses. They should've been in the cutting room floor to begin with.
My favorite part about agni and rudra is that you can infinite them with the 5 hit combo with rebellion and the right timing. If you get in the right groove you can knock ones weapon out of it's hands as the other one gets up.
I remember almost breaking my controller during the Beowulf battle. I thought that he was the hardest boss ever. And many hours later, during the boss-rush mission he felt like such a pussy. The game truly changes you
Vergil in mission 7 one of the hardest fights in the game? I remember it being one of the easiest; one of the few boss battles I never died at. I think I had level 2 trickster by then, may have made things easier
Since I can tell you enjoyed the game a lot I have to recommend that you play on the higher difficulties and try to go for high mission ranks. You have to use your full arsenal to get high ranks and it makes the game much more fun that just blasting enemies with the basic Rebellion combo. Which is fun for sure too, but that's mainly due to how good and satisfying the animations are, not because of particularly compelling gameplay. And not only it makes it more fun, it makes it more effective too, since for the first time in the series your best strategy isn't the most boring one. The main combo isn't very damaging and it throws enemies away with the last hit, which forces you to close the gap again (and unless they're against a wall Stinger won't work that well because it also sends them flying on hit). I can also see you're only using Split and your guns in the air, while changing weapons or using Swordmaster could help you stay in the air for much longer. You can MELT bosses like Cerberus (without even knocking him down) or the Heart of Leviathan that way. All that aside, higher ranks give you tons more of red orbs if you need more motivation than "it's more fun". As for the higher difficulties, Hard mode is kinda just a NG+ mode with small differences, you can blast through it like NG+ in Dark Souls 3, but Very Hard not only gives enemies more health and damage, it gives them more agression and changes their placements. And in the highest difficulty certain bosses get new moves and regular enemies can now Devil Trigger. Revisiting missions with your full moveset and perhaps a different Style, alongside new enemy placements can make it feel very fresh.
For Arkham... I played through the gameon DMD and Vergils appearance actually makes the fight harder, because the game takes away over half of your moveset (you can't use yor Style Moves..)
I love vergil 3 but i gotta give it to his second fight, i just love his moveset with beowulf and the fact that he uses devil trigger for the first time seals the deal for me. Plus the YOU WILL NOT FORGET THIS DEVIL'S POWER, YOU ARE NOT WORTHY AS MY OPPONENT gets me everytime lmao
@@AstralPhnx I don’t think a massive circle with lighting shooting onto it in the middle of a room your have to go into to progress the game counts as hidden.
Gonna post this again, you should play through dmd if you want to see what this game really has to offer, its like judging kh2 in normal mode rather than proud or critical mode. I get that you are in a rush and want to get this list done before 5 comes out, but at least play through dmd for dmc5 if you arent for 4. I can assure you that you wont regret it
I like the list but I really think you should do some playing on higher difficulties, there are a lot of mechanics you ended up missing that become way more necessary to be aware of when on hard, very hard, and DMD modes
Pretty dope list, but I would probably replace nevan with beowulf and replace King Vanguard with the chariot and put the heart of levi last, I agree with everything else, tho
Fun Fact: if you activate Vergil's Devil Trigger while wearing his corrupt costume, you can pretty much play as Nelo Angelo (even with most of his attacks from his boss fights in DMC 1)

@@kindlesstraitor5587 Yeah, but how is it possible to rank Hell VanGuard, who isn't even a boss, and Gigapede over Arkham? I only want to hear that if he beats him without taking damage.

I love mah boi Vergil, but he should've stayed in the background until the end of that fight. I'd say Gigapede was the worst boss. He was a boring, bland, unexciting boss that felt like he belonged in a different game.
The bosses in the fourth game are a huge mixed bag though. I like half of them, felt like I'm forgetting half of them.
His eels are weak to Katlina Ann
Single shot from Kaileena Ann destroys like 7-8 eels at once.
How could you forget half of them when you fight them like 3 times?

@@the-brown-dad It's pretty easy to do. I just spam the stinger pokes and the hitbox around it can constitute as a parry. Pretty inconsistent, but the fight is still pretty mangable without it.
If can split the damage between Agni and Rudra evenly for the whole fight, you can win it without triggering the cutscene where one of them gets the fallen one's weapon
I love Virgil's fight for the fact you can bait his Devil Trigger early by taunting him so he doesn't get the benefit from a fully charged DT.

So yeah, he is a Dark Souls boss before Dark Souls.
Especially if you're trying to fight him on DMD without taking a single hit
The only good thing about Arkham is even the characters in the game are like "You really think this jello mold is the final boss? Yeah, nahh. Just wait."
Vergil was a hero all along for stepping up as the true final boss, we just couldn't see it.
The two brothers were my bane as a kid. I remember going to farm to buy three holy waters to kill them for one reason or another I just couldn’t figure out how to deal with them. While not as brutal of a ass kicking I got playing when I was 16 they still give me a thrashing anytime I play the game.
But you can just spam Cerberus's Revolver Lvl2 and they just die xD
Vergil is hands down my favorite Devil may Cry 3 boss, as well as my have overall boss in the Devil may Cry series. Least favorite is Heart of the Leviathan.
Fun fact. Agni and Rudra have elemental weaknesses so they encourage you to weapon switch. The red one is weak to ice so Cerberus is effective against them and I think the blue one is weak to fire(not quite sure on this one honestly). Think other enemies and bosses have elemental weaknesses in this game too
But Vergil is obviously the best boss imo. Least favorite is same as yours. Funny how Arkham's fake persona is a better fight in the end

That was a great video, DeMod!
"Gigapede"?
Plus it'll align visually with the cinematics."
So I beat him again, without items and using Cerberus instead. Kinda proud of that too. But NOW, I really want to face him on Dante Must Die difficulty. I'm very discouraged about doing that, though, and here's why:
I want to play through the entire game with Super Sparda, because that essentially just makes him his normal self.
Oh my Lord, I forgot these comments existed
Past me, you should be really proud of how amazing you will become at these games.
Fun fact: while i was fighting vergil for the first time, i accidentally managed to get him in an AI loop, turning him into a joke. :|
The first fight, especially in easier difficulties, is such a disappointment, the fact he blocks actually makes him easier since you’re no longer stuck in a long animation. Because of this, every time he blocked, I immediately dodged his attack, since I was now free to do so, and just countered. Easiest fight in the game.
here's a tip for Vergil's final fight: you can cheese the fuck out of him with Beowulf
Also you can deflect the doppelganger's dark energy ball thing back at him if you're quick enough when he's about to use it
demod be happy that you did not fight the third Vergil on DMD. Might be the hardest bossfight I ever done.
The heart was terrible I was so annoyed I just used the holy water twice and they all died.

I'm gonna make a wild guess, number 1 si Vergil.

kittycjh did we see the same dmc4? Nero was blue Dante. Same cocky attitude, same hair, same cool factor.
can't wait for exhidna in dmc4 wherein Nero trivializes her with charge shot lv 2 (you can legit get SSS just using lv 2 charged shots on her its kinda dumb)
