    Timothy, I have just bought my Mavic Pro and started to watch a lot of videos from TH-cam before the flight. To be honest yours are the best and the Mavic video series you prepared helped me understanding all the details of my drone. Thanks a lot man.

    You've sold me on DJI... I'm going to be making amateur short vids that involve a lot of ariel shots and it looks like DJI is calling for duty!
    Also, What camera would you recommend for someone on a budget?
    I want to try and avoid any imagery inconsistencies that would otherwise be blatanly obvious (IE: Mavic = super crisp and high FPS, = noticeable snow, dropped FPS, lower res, etc). Would you have any recommendations on a budget handheld that matches or closely matches the Mavic? (or can the Mavic be used as a handheld?)

    Great tutorial Timothy! I'm curious how to sync two goggles to one drone, Since I purchased two sets of these goggles and have not figured out how to sync them to one controller, although I did contact DJI and they mentioned that I need a second controller which would suck to cough up another $300 just to have two people view them. I checked out Flight Test's video on these and they are going to look more into the matter so I'm waiting for their response too. Will you be picking up a second pair to try it out yourself? Thanks again for the video and tips bud!

    • @TimothySunday
      @TimothySunday  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, I can't help with that one. Hopefully Flight Test will get back to you. They are great guys! I have no plans to buy another pair since DJI doesn't send me their products, I purchase them myself and can only fund so much.

    I just purchased a goggle and me like most people who wear glasses the goggles are out of focus and there is no adjustment for focus. Most are doing what I have done and that is go to any drug store or hardware store and buy a cheap pair of 3.25 reading glasses and wear those and the focus is perfect. I went and setup the glasses so they are in the headset so when I flip it up I can see the tablet fine and I can slip my regular glasses on if needed. Other option is focus fixers which do the exact same thing for $50 rather than $3

    Hiya Timothy. Thanks for the review and yep, I want a pair! Looking forward to your upcoming reviews, I have the Mavic btw. As with a lot of other people who probably watch your channel, I am also a newbie to drones, and I mean I have had two hours flying newbie, so because I am not yet used to the controller do you think that this would be an advantage or a disadvantage in getting used to the goggles?
    Just one thing though about your review not quite matching the others I have seen; I was led to believe that the headset should be turned off for charging and that charging while turned on using a powerbank etc was a no-no, not sure if this is correct or not.

    • @TimothySunday
      @TimothySunday  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Barry. Thanks for the kind words. I think this is still a very feature-rich device for even novice pilots. Just get enough altitude that you don't have to worry about hitting things and have some fun!
      I hadn't heard that about the charging while in use. I'll have to look into that. I know I did setup while plugged in and the side lights flashed like it was charging.

    It seems like it should be possible for them to make 3D drone systems...you'd have to have two cameras spaced eye-width apart on the drone and I suppose there would have to be a double video stream. But I can't imagine how cool that would be with good goggles.

    Ah, you just answered my question about sharing the goggles with someone else. I have a feeling that this would make me ill as I do not like watching video on Imax screens because the speed and motion gets to me. But I feel it would be a neat accessory to throw on someone else's head while I control the drone with the controller.

  • @craigd7808
    @craigd7808 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just bought this. I used it once for a short time. It is extremely high on the cool factor. However I was a little scared. It's going to take some experience to get comfortable with it. I'm uncertain how you can use the gimbal control left to right using only the controller. Is this something only available using the headset?

    • @TimothySunday
      @TimothySunday  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, only on the headset. The controller will not control it as it's built into your pan movement in order to help smooth out the footage.

    Hi, question for you. I just ordered the new Mavic Air and the goggles. I was wondering if you can have a live view from the camera on both the goggles and your smart phone connected to the controller at the same time. The reason I ask is because I am on Search and Rescue and I need to be able to see with the goggles when I'm flying it but I also need to be able to transmit my smart phone screen to a TV so I can have other people helping me spot for people. Thanks

    • @bub2010
      @bub2010 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      either way it seems strange there would be any variance... I mean it is supposedly communicating with the remote... and the phone or goggles are just a direct connected output display.. I'm stumped.

    I've been following you since your first Mavic video. I bought these the moment I saw them.... but, I wear graduated trifocals and there's no way I can focus on the screen... really unhappy that there isn't a diopter adjustment... hoping I can order some cheap glasses to wear while using the goggles. Wish DJI would have thought about this.

    • @TimothySunday

  • @paulywalnuts805
    @paulywalnuts805 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I picked up the Mavic Air and the Goggles recently. I love the drone, the Goggles not so much. Hopefully I find something interesting to do with them. The fact that it disables the phone/app control is the deal-breaker for me. I was hoping to fly the drone with the phone and have another person watch/control the gimbal. Doesn’t seem feasible with the Air. The goggles are heavy and the “wow” factor is not there with the few things I’ve tried (xbox, video play back from drone). Regarding the playback from the drone, using a 64GB micro SD card in the goggles doesn’t work. Using the USB cable to the goggles does. Another goggles fail. I wouldn’t suggest them with the Air. Maybe the Pro.

    A few weeks back I have purchased a Mavic DJI FPV goggle and I have returned it. Reason, it was big and cumbersome to carry around, also, it is extremely heavy on your head. Of course, the human eyesight, particularly your pupil. Therefore, it has not been designed and developed ergonomically to suit every face or eyes. Furthermore, after approximately 1500 to 2000 meters away you will lose signal unfortunately it is useless. Finally, It is OVERPRICED.
