    Why don't we just use the camera hump to argue for a bigger battery... Makes the design more flat. This obsession about thin phones killing battery for me. Battery tech is evolving where they are actually becoming lighter and holding the same capacity.
    Either that or go back to swappable batteries again. 0 to 100 in 10 seconds. Done

    • @Jmort93
      @Jmort93 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Apple did the same with the 12Pro vs the 11. With more efficient processors, both companies could keep the same battery sizes for years to come and still gain usage hours due to ever-increasing chip efficiency.

    • @Evie0133
      @Evie0133 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +35

      @@Jmort93 except that the 12 Pro had noticeably worse battery life compared to the 11 Pro, no amount of efficiency gains can offset the sheer difference in battery capacity (unless there's a dramatic shift in SoC architecture like from x86 to ARM on PCs)

    • @Little_Milks
      @Little_Milks 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      It's not that outlandish. Battery life is more than just mah rating. Efficiency matters a ton. It's so much easier to just throw a bigger battery in any device than it is to fine tune software etc. A huge battery with an inefficient chipset is lipstick on a pig. Are batteries supposed to get larger with every phone that comes out? Cell phones have been around a while, if battery size were all people cared about phones would be 30lbs by now. I have the F6 and I easily get over a day. So mah doesn't matter to me. If you're outdoorsy and need multi day battery life you're not picking up a foldable anyway. For a multitude of reasons.

    I jumped from the fold 3 to the fold 6 because of the very good price they gave me to trade in my fold 3. You can feel the improvements in weight and thickness but my main problem was video consumption in the main screen. The crease was too noticeable to me but now with the fold 6 is way better, is still there but you really can forget about it. The cover screen is good enough for me now, is used to be a bit too narrow to type and watch videos without too much cropping. Have Pre-Ordered my ZFold 6.
    Couldn't believe, firstly, how light it was. Couldn't tell a difference between the ZFold and my S22 Ultra.
    Secondly, I absolutely am in favour of a Thin/ Slim Cover Screen. With a device this big, it is really easy to operate the Cover Screen with 1 hand.
    The exact issue with OnePlus Open is that since the Cover Screen is wide, it almost makes one-hand operations impossible without doing those dangerous sliding maneuvers.
    OneUI really is the best of em all. S-Pen, cherry on top.

      If we're going like this can we also compare the s24 ultra specs to what nerdy smartphone people call cameraphones? Main contenders: xiaomi 14 ultra, oppo find x 7 ultra and vivo x100 ultra. They all have better cameras with 1 inch main sensors, bigger faster charging batteries, brighter displays. Just go to any spec comparing site and you'll start thinking samsung has stagnated the past 3 years, because it seems they have. Like I was initially going to go for another samsung phone, my note 10 plus just turned 5yo a few days ago and the battery life sucks and it's become laggy as of late, so when I saw the fold 6 on display at a store nearby and played a little with it I thought wow this thing is amazing, while the s24 ultra made me think 'this seems unremarkably similar to my note excluding the cameras', but now that I've been looking up reviews of phones that have come out this past year plus some old but innovative ones like the p30 pro which I did not know at the time in 2019 was that good, I merely went 'I'll just buy the best samsung has' and ended up with a note 10 plus for arguably a good price at 800 euros compared to s24u prices now, and I went from liking samsung to asking why, 10 years ago they were known for innovation and doing funky things and throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, now it's just the same old thing for half a decade now. No thanks. Meanwhile I see vivo with their amazing camera flagships and their foldable is just unbeatable tho if only it was easy to get the global rom model, tho there isn't anything that doesn't work on the chinese rom besides esim, even android auto works. So in conclusion I'm personally not gonna take specs into consideration when samsung as a whole seems outclassed by chinese phones lol.

    • @panduino2156
      @panduino2156 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @DBD120 Yeah I see people complain about durability on the folds and I dont get it. Aside from the manufacturing defect that causes pixels near the crease to eventually die, they're perfecr. And that defect is only on select phones, seems my Fold 4 wont be encountering it as it should've happened by now if it were going to.
      Overall, these things are built like a tank. My Fold 4 has survived water, sand, dust, and a lot of drops. Its got some dings on it and the smaller front screen is scratched because I didnt put a screen protector on, but other than that its in perfect condition

      Yes, the US are fortunate for the deals they get that make the price factor less relevant. Still the front display remains a thorn and I am happy with my Honor Magic V2. It makes such a difference for me to have a wider front display, and the Honor cost £600 less than the Fold 6 and came with 16GB/512GB and free headpjhones (£350 retail). We are lucky in the UK to have greater smartphone choices with Xiaomi, Honor, Huawei, OPPO, etc all having local releases.

    People are so focused with "UPGRADING". You got to see the bigger picture. Most of people who bought the ZF6 got a foldable for the times time Me personally I'm coming from an S21U, so it's a massive upgrade in my case, and I don't change phones regularly, maybe 3 or 4 years. Plus with the trade in offer I'm only paying $650 for the ZF6, while trading-in a broken Note3 that doesn't even turn on lol. People should stop measuring phones compared to their previous year and focus on the overall value of the device. I wouldn't buy a $2k phone at all if it weren't for the trade in offers of course.

      They are not necessarily comparing year-on-year, it is more a comparison versus the competition from China which are far superior in most regards, including:
      1/ 5000mah+ batteries
      2/ 3X faster charging
      3/ Better camera hardware
      4/ Wider front display
      5/ 16GB RAM options
      6/ Much lower pricing outside N America for Chinese phones with superior pre-order deals.
      7/ Better display insurance. In the UK no option to insure display for more than a year--Moto has a three-year option for £140.
      It is hard for me to see anyone defend the Galaxy Fold without thinking they are apologists. But I guess Samsung are happy with what they are doing for their fanbase and the rest of us will knock the Fold off our shortlist.

    While there are notable improvements (maybe more than initially meet the eye), I too am concerned about Samsung's apparent complacency with the Fold, which feels prominent to the point where they are comfortable increasing the price further despite continuing to lag behind competitors.
    Great coverage - looking forward the Flip 6 Review as well - one thing I am hoping for with the Flip is real improvement with the screen protector. I don't want to have to worry about the protector bubbling after 8-12 months and then worry about damaging the display if I fold it before replacing the protector immediately at a Samsung repair location. The anxiety I know I'd have around the screen protector for the Flip is just too much for me, lol.

    As someone who is getting this as my first ever foldable, this is gonna be a major improvement on all fronts for me, I’m coming from the iPhone 13 Pro, I welcome the narrower cover display with open arms, and I am not too worried about the camera quality. The reason why I got this over the OnePlus Open is because I am on a carrier contract, so I didn’t really have a choice in terms of foldables, it was either the Fold 5 or the 6, I am not that into the flips, so yeah, I didn’t really have many options. I finally bought in for the ZFold3...First one that really had some legs I thought....About a year in, I got a hinge issue. Warranty claim gave me a Fold4 as a replacement. The 4 was a much better phone than the 3, wider screen, better battery life. I'm still using the 4. I was waiting on the ZF6 to give me the option to use the Spen on the cover screen as well as have a place for the Spen in the phone body. None of that was done. The 6 is a good looking phone no doubt, and the SDg3 surely gives it power, and good legs. But it's just not enough to trade in my 4 and STILL pay about 1000$. Just can't do it. Hopefully we'll get those features by the Fold10. The FLIP6 is the winner this year I believe. I'm going back to OnePlus for a cycle. The OP12 is PHENoMENAL. Cheers.

    As a Fold 4 user,my biggest gripe would probably be the strengthening of the internal ribbon cables between the halves of the phone. After 2 years mine seem ro have given up. When fully open my inner screen doesn't light up but when I reboot and open it a smidge I can see ghe full display lighting up. A look through reddit shows that it was relatively common among the Fold4 issues that also caused issues with the sim cards not being detected. Hope Samsung could look into strengthening or improving durability for those parts of the Z Fold series.

    I loved my note 7 and 8 but for me since then the Samsung devices have just lost the edge. I jumped to the Duo and although it was not on the same level with camera and processor's as the other devices at the time I loved toe formfactor and when I upgraded I decided to no pay over 1k for a phone as it is getting stupid with prices now. I ended up getting a razor 2022 and my wife got the filip 4 and I am glad I went the Moto way. Here screen protector has split in the middle twice mine is still as it was when I got it. I'm due to look at an upgrade early next year and for me I'm looking at a folding device again just because I do miss that bigger screen for things. Looking at this I do think I'll be overlooking the fold if I do get one. As usual amazing review of a device.

    one funny thing is when I actually measured oneplus open and fold 6
    fold 6 was measured at 241 g
    and open was 250g
    wasn't sure where that gap came from

    I swapped from Fold2 to Fold6 and all the iterstivw changes have stacked up to feel like significant improvement at this point (helped by the fact that my Fold2 was kinda falling apart at this point), but it is a bit dissapointing that Fold still doesn't have feature party with S Ultra.
    Though since I now got Fold6, with my luck this will mean that Fold7 will finally widen the cover screen, put best camera Samsung can offer into the phone, and dock S-Pen inside it instead of separate accessory.

    I have a zfold 6, and have been using it for the last 2 days(still not a lot). In my opinion it is a fantastic phone to go to from a standard phone, which was my s21. While it is a lot more expensive and the core functionalities feel the same, the overall polish and design of the phone make it feel like a final product rather than something that was still improving(mainly the weird bezels and large hinge). While the cover screen is still narrow, I prefer it over a standard phone. It gives a lot of vertical information which is good for texting, calls, seeing a lot of notifications at once, etc. However, the fold 6 is what the fold 4 should have been instead of the two repeats of the fold 4 and fold 5.

    The day fold competitors like Vivo, Honour and Huawei go global, its OVER for Samsung. They are leaps and bounds ahead of the OG's with their hardware design advancements.
    Seriously, vivo's x fold 3/pro its insanely light, a third the size of the Samsungs fold 6, has 1,000+ MHA battery in a smaller form factor. And a half hour 0-100% charge time on 100w cable.
    And Honour has taken the cake this year with the thinnest foldable phone with its Magic V3 at just 4.4mm unfolded.
    SAMSUNG WAKE UP AND ADVANCE!!!! PLEASE!!

    Thank you for being honest and not scared of Samsung. Im stuck on the fold 4 for all these reasons I'm paying the phone off and i just don't wanna upgrade to the 5 or 6 just too small the incremental updates. 🙄🙄 After i pay this fold 4 I'm out Samsung ✌🏻

    If you are using Samsung's Fold, even if you baby it, it will eventually fail because of the ribbon cable between each half. I am previously a Fold 3 user, i am babying it but the unthinkable happened, the folding screen is very good and it does not fail but the ribbon cables are the main issue.
