That man is G-Dragon. He's the leader and the one responsible for writing most of their songs. He is the ultimate King of Kpop. Other people try and claim the throne, but it belongs to GD. They do dance, they're very good at it, but they don't need to to hold an audience, so they don't. You can't miss Fantastic Baby, Lies, Bang Bang Bang, If You (live in Bangkok), Loser and Bae Bae. If you react to Bang Bang Bang, Loser and Bae Bae, you can watch their legendary MAMA 2015 live performance.
As an ELF I discovered GD through IU's Palette. The more I watched him perform the more I just cannot describe him in another way than he is absolute magic.
I know many have already commented about GD, but I can’t help but comment. Everything about GD is iconic especially in Korea:
1. When someone wear weird clothes, people comment things like only GD can pull those off.
2. When someone brags about money or fame, people comment things like dude thinks he’s GD
3. Like you mentioned a lot of idols try to imitate his voice, singing style etc. There’s actually a compilation of that in yt.
4. When idols try and imitate his stage persona they are said to have “GD disease”
He’s just so iconic to the extreme, truly “The King of Kpop”. Also thanks a lot for reacting to them, subscribed for more Bigbang reactions :)
The member you are talking about is G DRAGON- kwon jiyong, the leader and the member who writes and produces BB music.
Haru haru is VIPs national anthem. It was their second hit song (and second song of the year in a row, after lies in 2007).
Haru haru is the most loved BB song by the fandom, hands down.
As for the controversy- VIPs won't bring it up unless: 1. Someone says something that is factually is wrong.
2. You start a conversation about it.
Most of us are here for the music, and the music speaks for itself.
Does BB dance? They can, some of them are some of the best dancers out there- they just don't. You will see them dance more in sub units or their solos. Their stage presence is just so great it feels like dancing will interfere with a good preformce.

That's how I felt when I discovered them years ago.
I'm not kpopers in general, because it's not my cup of tea (no offense)
But I love this group since they're very different.
And their uniqueness, swag, confident, stage presence and talents are become role model in my life.
Personally I don't really care about any group's controversy, i'm just here to enjoy their music. I don't know how you decided to check these groups, but bigbang btob and super junior are my top 3 male groups when it comes to just their songs. Their fandom are also mostly composed by adults now since they have been in the industry for a long time, that contributed to why their more fandom seems more mature. Of course there's a bad apple here and there but that's beside the point.
The one that you pointed out is G-Dragon, his stage presence is off the chart. In korea he's like the celebrity of the celebrities. What's funny about him is that he is actually quite a shy person outside the stage, but when he perform his presence is just on another level. They rarely have choreo for their songs, but they definitely can dance. G-Dragon is my favorite artist, so i definitely recommend to check his solo stuff later on. But bigbang have a lot more songs to check out, my recommendation would be Fxxk It, Lies, Loser, and If You.
Exactly. Yesterday I just realized I've been a VIP for 14 years - more than half of my life now. I've seen so many other longtime VIPs prepping for this comeback and everyone's already so hyped. I can't wait to see them and I could care less about the kids (meaning the younger fandoms) barking up a storm about it on social media.

They do dance! They just don't do it quite often. G-Dragon and Taeyang are one of the greatest dancers in Kpop industry. (you can check out their " good boy" performance.) however, most of the time they just vibe with the music and feel the song. they have amazing individuality which you don't see much in today's Kpop industry. Every member has their own style and performs in their own unique way. Especially GD, he is highly recognized by his insane stage presence.
Big Bang don’t follow the trend, they CREATE the trend.

I'm just in awe of how your comments are on point. Thank you for reacting to Bigbang. This is what I love about them, they are so different. They do not conform with the idol image. They break barriers. Their music ranges from diff music genres. I'm really glad that you did not react first to Bang Bang Bang or Fantastic Baby because those are the songs that most reactors react to and of course it is not everyone's cup of tea, so once they heard it they think it is just the type of music that BIGBANG makes. There's more to BIGBANG than just BBB or FB. Also, if you see them off stage, behind the scenes, they are just human, they don't make you feel like you are different from them, they show when they are pissed, they swear on their documentaries, they smoke, they were even drunk in one of their MVs, they are savage esp to their fans.

"Haru Haru" was my first BIGBANG song 14 years ago and anytime I see someone listening to it I get so many emotions. I was in middle school and saw a music video recommended on TH-cam so I clicked out of curiosity. I had never heard Korean before that. Despite no translations back then, I watched the video intently and ended up crying by the end. I had never been so impacted by music before and was shocked, so I went down a rabbit hole of learning more about them. This lead to me learning about other groups and influenced the start of my love for foreign music and languages. It's been 14 years but I still love BIGBANG as much as I did all those years ago even through all of the pain this fandom and the guys have been through. I spent more than half of my life being their fan and will spend the remainder of it right behind them, watching fondly as they move through life and find the happiness they deserve.
Also, that man is G-Dragon - the King of Kpop and the Idol of Idols. His influence on the kpop industry is WILD and he's been performing on stage for about 26 years since the age of 6. He debuted as part of a kids group and when they disbanded he was picked up by SM Entertainment, training for 5 years until he eventually moved to YG and continued his training there. A few of his achievements are:
1. Designing the very first idol lightstick which prompted every group after to have their own sticks
2. Coining airport fashion because he never went to the airport without carefully picking his own outfits
3. Being the first idol to break back into China after the bad relations closed the door for the Hallyu Wave
4. Being the first kpop idol to produce and write music for his group and prompting other companies to allow their artists to have a hand at producing
5. Being the first kpop idol invited to Paris Fashion Week because our mans is a fashion icon.
6. Held the biggest solo concert by a Korean artist with 33 shows and many famous people attended naturally. Check out Act III: MOTTE for solo stages from that tour.
Also you have no idea! Their range is amazing and Daesung's high notes are fantastic. All of them are so talented and they don't need to dance hard like the newer groups. They prefer to make their concerts super fun and then maybe dance the chorus or ending together if it's a hype song. BIGBANG's concerts are more like a giant party rather than just a concert.
Oooo u watched the mv 1st n live stage, good choices...i'm not a kpopper but only listen to bigbang, they have the great music n talent...if u realize they have 5 powerful vocaln n distinctive to each other, that's what makes them better than any group...
Thank you for being open minded and non judgemental. We, as human beings, all have our own struggles and demons. We really don't know what it's like to be someone or what they go through. We also don't know all the facts either. To think that there are a group of perfect, innocent angels exist is pretty naive. I feel like, in general, the kpop industry is marketing and selling that perfect image and people are actually believing it. BIGBANG is the first and one of the rare kpop groups who are free to do and express themselves as they please. They were the first to write and produce their own songs. Before BIGBANG, self writing and producing did not exist in kpop. BIGBANG are more artists than idols.
Most V.I.P. belong to the "older" demographic of current kpop fans. Considering how long BIGBANG has been around, most of their fans are in their late twenties to early thirties. Most of us are working professionals and some have families and children. We came from a different generation where social media wasn't prevalent and just the overall kpop fan culture of today. We didn't really care about mass streaming or mass buying albums to drive up numbers. We listened to music because we just enjoyed it. We don't care about fanwars either.
ikr, younger generation of fans might expect bigbang to have high album sales, more views but vips are just laid back , some say that the fandom is lazy.

The thing about BigBang is that they always put some emotionality into their songs. GD, the guy who you said that had crazy stage presence, is the producer, main singer song-writer of the group. He seems to put emphasis on the listener feeling the song even if they don't understand the lyrics.

Last Dance is such a beautiful song. I agree they aren't your typical kpop group. They aren't obsessed with sounding perfect or sounding a certain way. It's just raw and real.

I recommend the whole performance of bigbang’s MAMA 2015 to be the next to live performance to watch, as it’s considered the cover of a massive book of the many great live performances of bigbang. They performed loser, bae bae and bangbangbang. Then from there, you can dive deeper with songs such as cafe, if you and many more.

The man that you like name G Dragon he is the main rapper also vocalist he is the leader in Sober he is the orange hair, the white hair guy name Seungri he is the youngest (sober)lead vocal, the one with drum is Daesung he is the lead vocal also have the highest voice range, the man who lifted by the dancer is Taeyang he is the main vocalist and the guy with deep voice is TOP rapper and he can sing too. Only when I listen to other people cover their songs that I know how good they are at singing. I heard some idols cover Loser, If you, last dance. Some are disasters, some are not bad but still don't have that vibe, that feeling, that few notes they can't reach.
I really really love how your reactions are so details, on point and elaborative. I am also just discovered bigbang from just watching one of their live performances which is Mama 2015 and I directly became a fan. Their music makes me want to dig more and more and all sounds sooo good.
That struggle in trying to figure out what G-Dragon actually looks like really takes me back to when I first started to get into Bigbang. I remember a few months in, I'd tell friends that I was getting into this new band and send them 10 different pictures of GD-and wait for them to say 'oh they're all very attractive' or 'wait how many members are there??' to reveal it was the same person. To an audience of gasps. 😂

I love the way how you talk, it's very calming. Also the way you talk about them making you feel free, that was my first impression of the first live video I've watched from them. Bigbang for me is Art, a FREEDOM of expression, where they say what they think, their experiences, struggles, pain, happiness are all put into a song like putting their souls into it and letting ppl hear them. Their stage performances is just the way their songs should feel, free from pretending, free from limitations. I love them and their music. Anyways, take your time and enjoy discovering them, it's okay if you won't stan them at the end, it's normal as we all have different preferences.
I recommend my favorites from their early days are "Heaven", "Let Me Hear Your Voice/Koewokikasete", and "A Fool Of Tears". And for their more current/recent songs "Let's not fall in love", " We like 2 party" and "Bae Bae". Definitely need to check out Tell Me Goodbye Japan Dome Tour, Cafe from MADE in Seoul, and I think my favorite Lies performance was on Sketchbook. Out of the 3, only Cafe doesn't have a mv. Feeling from MADE in Seoul is also great, but no mv. There really is too much depending on your mood/taste.
