- I tested flex tape on my split garden hose. Will it work?

Well! You just saved me 20 bucks! Thanks!
Lol. You're welcome!
Yep, I can attest to this as well. It definitely does NOT work. Tried this as well 🤦🏼♀️ we also bought more and it just bubbled up and stretched to a huge water bubble
Lol. I thought about making a video to see how many wraps it would take to keep it from popping
LOL
@@becausestuffbreaks dang dude, you must really make a lot from those Amazon affiliate sales if you’re willing to put on that experiment! 😂 I used to think gaffer tape was expensive until I bought this stuff.
@@FriendlyNeighborhoodNitpicker lol. I wonder if anyone has bought this tape after watching this.
buy yourself a fiberfix instead, the one that hardens after 10 minutes in contact with water
Thanks for the honest review. Have an expensive heavy duty hose I’d rather not use couplings on, but guess the flex tape isn’t an option.
Nope. You wouldn't even be able to fix a leaking water line on the supply side. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, I just bought some to fix one of my hoses,I think i will be returning it now.
Lol, or wrap it 10x
Many thanks for your video. Unfortunately, I bought into the hype prior to seeing your experience. I too had negative results, even working with smaller holes. I concur with your opinion - garden hoses are not a good application for this product.
Lol. It was kind of cool to see it burst. Sorry you had to learn the hard way, like me. I bought new barb fitting hose adapters that I'm going to make a video of next.
I wish I found this video before I tried the same thing. There is no warning on the packaging that it doesn't work for high pressure.
Do you know how to remove the flex tape?
Also, do you know if normal flex seal spray would work?
The spray is even weaker. Here's a link to new garden hose fittings: amzn.to/3Vn2Ylc
Wouldnt a new hose have been cheaper?
Lol, probably. Just not as fun.
Electricians tape under tension would work much better.
Sweet. I'll try that next
@@becausestuffbreaks Run it in an overlapping spiral beginning an inch or two to the side, then passing over the split to an inch or two beyond. Tear the tape, then do it again in a second spiral going in the other direction. Now, still with some tension do a normal wrap. That should hold it. I have done that on burst car radiator hoses and it held, on multiple vehicles.
@@kenibnanak5554 nice. Now I need to keep a roll in each car.
@@becausestuffbreaks I already do, in the same box as the socket wrench and the screw driver set. Also a roll of Duct tape and a flashlight with good batteries and some road flares too.
Silicone tape has worked great on my hose
Sorry 'bout your Flex Fail, but I appreciate the laughs
Lol. Thanks for watching!
what;s the psi on your water?
80 to 45 but not sure exactly where mine is specifically
@@becausestuffbreaks not enuff psi ! lol
i read some use electrical tape?
I need to make a new video and try something new
Thank you 😊
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
what about a hydraulic hose?
that has a hole in it
Lol. I hope you're kidding
@@becausestuffbreaks i wasn't
Absolutely do NOT use it on a hydraulic line. The pressure on a hydraulic line would but through.
@@becausestuffbreaks i learnt the hard way
i am going to try super glue and styrofoam next
Thanks
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
It does work!! They key is not wrapping it all the way around the hose. I have fixed 2 using flex tape but I only put a piece over the hole itself and I let it sit in the sun and get really stick.after I patched it. I do not know why letting it get sticky worked but it did.
I'll have to try that. How long did you let it sit before turning on the water?
I have a short hose going from spigot to water trough. Old hose that has a small leak, but needed to fix because it hooks to a float valve. Put a large wrap around the hose. Made sure I squeezed out the bubbles. Didn’t work. So I will try the small piece before I chunk the rest of the tape.
Tried it. Nope.
I feel like I was mislead about the strength by Flex Seal
Whew!
You going to buy some flex tape now
@@becausestuffbreaks I already have a roll, for another purpose. I was gonna sacrifice some to attempt a garden hose repair. Your video saved me the trouble/waste, so thank you!
@@madpogue you're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Does anyone have any idea how to fix the garden hose that I cut with my lawnmower?
I really want to use some tape. Because I don’t have the fittings. But I have the tape.
Maybe try multiple wraps
