I was never a huge fan of the Thor comic book but when I saw the film, it quickly became my favorite MCU film (it still ranks pretty high for me). And I don’t mind the Dutch angles! 🤣🤣
This was my favourite movie when I was younger; the cast, the screenplay, the score, everything about it was just so great. Now it's my favourite Thor film. 🔨⚡️
Interesting how the first 2 movies tried maintaining Thor’s seriousness from the comics, yet he became more popular when he got all comedic in Ragnarok
I would argue that point. Why do you feel he became more popular when he was turned into goofy, stupid, Thor? It was an ok movie, Ragnarok I mean, but it certainly wasn't a masterpiece and I still place the first Thor movie over it any day of the week.
I don't even like the character, and waited for the film to come out on a disc, but it was and it is one of THE BEST entries in the MCU. The chemistry between Chris and Natalie, and all of the others - it's on another level. And Branagh as a director flexed his muscles like Ronnie Coleman with this one 😂
Don't forget that same year Chris was in Snow White and The Huntsman....I think the early MCU films hold up well because they weren't necessarily trying to create classics, something that makes films from the 30s n 40s still hold up too. From a golden summer where i had the means to see like 10 or more movies a week and was pretty gd awesome being able to do so
This film was my introduction to the MCU so it will always hold a special place for me. The characters, humor, story, and action all come together seamlessly to create a fun epic time at the movies. 😊
Thor: I NEED A HORSE!! Pet store clerk: We dont have any horses, just dogs and cats... Thor: Then give me one of those big enough to ride Clerk: ?? lol
This is one of the best MCU movies they have ever produced. It gave us the egotistical, frat boy Thor at the start who then goes on a true hero's journey till he finds his real self and matures into the person he needs to be .... and then Taika Waititi destroyed all that character development when he made Thor: Ragnarok, and finished the destruction of Thor with Love and Thunder. Phases 1-3 gave us the best MCU movies ever, I just wish they would go back to what made it so good in the first place.
I really miss this era of mcu, where comic book films where still fresh and drew in new fans but there was always something around the corner hinted at for more experienced comic fans to notice. I remember the global aniticipation that these films were leading up to something big.
Honestly didn't like this one nor the second one back then, but now I like they were actually trying something different. I wonder how the franchise would be if every hero's movie was in a different style, like most comics. Oh well...
At least this one and the second don't undercut serious moments like 3 and 4 I don't mind 3 but thor literally just sees his home be destroyed and they just ruin what should have been a serious moment with a shity joke
My only issue with this movie is he is humbled and proved worthy in a few days. I wish they could have shown him struggling to rise to greatness through helping the world, people, etc over a few months. Basically rock bottom to greatness without his powers, but with his heart. Show him develop compassion, confidence, and a purpose.
I really miss Phase 1 of the MCU. Movies like "Iron-Man 1 & 2", The Incredible Hulk," "The First Avenger ", and of course "Thor" hold up so well. Man! I love that first Captain America movie. When the pre-super serum Steve jumps on that fake grenade, all you need to know about Steve Rogers's character is summed up in that one scene. I've said it once, and I'll say it a million times, I wonder what the MCU would have been if it had stayed under Paramount Pictures?
THANK YOU! For admitting that the incredible hulk and iron man 2 were GOOD fkn films. People just got picky AF for some reason. But yes IM2 COULD have been better. I loved hulk though personally
At timestamp 2:57 and 5:51 Ok, am *I* the only one that was discussed that they didn't introduce Dr. Donald Blake, Thor's alter ego, as done in the comics when he was cast down to earth in human form to teach him humility?!!?
i miss the Thor from the first movie. I was not a fan of Ragnarok and would never watch Love&Thunder again. I felt that one was what Space Balls was to Star Wars...
I love the first Thor and prefer him in that original Shakespearean style. I still like it better than all the sequels, which tried to change him into a jokey member of the Guardians Of The Galaxy.
I think Surtur would have something to say about Asgard being the realm eternal there Odin. However, you did say Asgard wasn’t a place, but then again you specifically showed actual Asgard 🤷♂️
I prefered it when Thor was more serious and Shakespearean like this. As time went on they made him silly and lost what made him unique compared to everyone else around him.
This one was fine, although it led us to Dark World, which is... sheesh. Also, Ragnarok was pretty cool too, but boy, oh, boy did it lead us to Love and Thunder which was utter shit. So, maybe you just can't win with Thor. Cheers!
I got to say, in retrospect, I enjoy the Shakespearean take on for, it helps him feel unique amongst other heroes

The best Thor movie, with the best depiction of Loki too.
This was my favourite movie when I was younger; the cast, the screenplay, the score, everything about it was just so great. Now it's my favourite Thor film. 🔨⚡️
I Always loved the first Thor movie.
Interesting how the first 2 movies tried maintaining Thor’s seriousness from the comics, yet he became more popular when he got all comedic in Ragnarok
And lost all said popularity come Love and Thunder.
Injecting seriousness doesn't automarically make a movie good. It should be engaging to watch.

Which the MCU no longer is.

@@DaveMan1K I'd say people arguably got fed up with Thor being funny around Endgame
I really enjoyed THOR. Kat Dennings was hilarious. Agent Colson was even better in this outing.
I love this movie. It is very good. Very underrated.
I definitely miss the semi-serious version of Thor. I frankly hated that Taika made everything into a joke.
Yeah Thor 3 and 4 are horrible.
A good film from an amazing director, love his take of Poirot
While I enjoy both sides of Thor, nothing beats those early days leading up to The Avengers film. What a time to be in theaters!

This is like Citizen Kane compared to current MCU films 🤔
Compared to the recent MCU garbage, this is a masterpiece 😂
How did we go from this gem to the last Thor movie.
I guess it really is quantity over quality now.

When the MCU was trying to replicate the comics rather than sending political messages.
Hate to break it to you, but movies have had political messages since they were invented, my friend.
@@JayFingers Yes, propaganda, but I don't expect it from a comic book movie.
One of my fav marvel movies!👍👍

I've seen it in the cinema...I loved it...I respect it
3, 1, 2, 4. That's the proper ranking.
This is my second favor Thor movie
Compared to the MODERN MCU, masterfully.
back when the marvel movies were good.
I still enjoy it 😎👍
THANK YOU! For admitting that the incredible hulk and iron man 2 were GOOD fkn films. People just got picky AF for some reason. But yes IM2 COULD have been better. I loved hulk though personally
This truly is the best Thor movie.
Inadvertently start a war with the ice giants? They went there to start a war. How is that inadvertent? lol.
The thing that recent MSU movies don't seem to have is... BALANCE.
At timestamp 2:57 and 5:51
Ok, am *I* the only one that was discussed that they didn't introduce Dr. Donald Blake, Thor's alter ego, as done in the comics when he was cast down to earth in human form to teach him humility?!!?
Ragnarok is my favorite, ideal would be a balance between Shakespeare and humor
i miss the Thor from the first movie. I was not a fan of Ragnarok and would never watch Love&Thunder again. I felt that one was what Space Balls was to Star Wars...

I like it but too many Dutch Tilts
Edit you just said the same n then I was gonna mention the eyebrows lol
Cheers
Didn’t like Thor movies until Ragnarok.
I think from the beginning to where we are today is one of history’s greatest downfalls in cinema.
Aside from those frosted eyebrows...sure, still a fun watch.
What if Steve Rogers had come along with the Shield team that was studying the hammer?
I think Surtur would have something to say about Asgard being the realm eternal there Odin. However, you did say Asgard wasn’t a place, but then again you specifically showed actual Asgard 🤷♂️

Ahh!!! The good ole days before the M-SHE-U.
I like the movie a lot but I don't care for the blonde beard. Looks way better later when it's darker.
Same goes for the eyebrows lol
New Mexico huh? I guess it's better than being stuck jackin it in San Diego.....
Despise Taiko Cantwritee's crap..much prefer these classier ones.
Did he stop bleaching his eyebrows as the series went on?
Victorian?? Did you mean Shakespearean?
Maybe it's just me, but on headphones, your voice seems like it is coming from behind and above me. That's a problem.
To me, The Wolverine was a better movie
I thourghly enjoyed the indroduction of Thor, the rest of the series #2, #3, #4 made Thor look weak and I did not like
The Taki Waititi version is still my favorite but this one ranks high on my MCU film list plus cmon, it sets up the freaking Avengers
Since day 1
I never liked Thor
