1:10, I used a save editor to give myself pokeballs so I didnt have to get them organically by walking two towns over, wanted to keep the tutorial as brief as possible.

The cloning items video helped a lot with the timing. Look carefully at the cloning video before attempting the all 3 starters method. Took several tries before success and now I’m a happy camper.

I can confirm it still works! I practiced just by saving in front of choosing your starters and saving there and resetting until I had a comfortable feel for it since I sucked, but I finally did it and now I have all 3 starters! This is going to be a damn good experience.
The only downside to this is that you will have to breed them one by one at the Daycare for the previously cloned pokemon's data to appear in the pokedex. So you should definitely reclone the other two once you've acquired them all so that you can chuck the clones to the daycare to get their egg and hatch while you keep your "main" team members in your party and ready to battle.
Finally did it on my second attempt. Thank you for the guide! To others, if you can' get it... keep going. It can be frustrating but it's possible if you get your timing right.

I got it! It took some practice because you can’t be to fast or slow on the reset. Thanks for the tutorial! I was trying the Gold and Silver method and was getting so frustrated as to why it wasn’t working. Lol
I think it’s been patched out now actually. Tried several times and got the timing perfect and while I was sent back to starter selection the old starter wasn’t in the PC when I got back to it.
@Hamzza Khan idk bro it worked for me, just keep trying and make sure you're following the video completely. I did it on my original Gameboy Color Crystal version too just to see and got it there too although it's a little trickier. Just keep at it, you'll succeed
Plastic Pinocchio I just got mad lucky. I guess it’s all based on chance. If it’s ??????? Then it’s a bad clone and you have to restart. Took me like 20 restarts
The precision here is real. I tried this and got to the three starters. But the other two became corrupt pokémon because my timing was off by a very small sliver, I'm sure.
Finally did it! Took me a few tries. The first two starters you choose won’t show up in your dex but you can get their data by breeding them and hatching the eggs
I did this today, Sept 16 2020. It still works, got the 3 of them. I tried like 15 times reading some TH-cam comments and etc, nothing worked. What I did was, putting the text speed to fast, then as soon as the last “ . “ appears, I reset. This is how I did it, it worked twice in a row, so I have the three starters now. Just be patient and keep trying.
I managed to pull off this thanks to you. I failed several times while exploiting this glitch. I had to delete my save file twice because I waited too late.
Only the last starter will be registered in your pokedex and will be the only one you can rename later on. You have to breed the others in order for them to be registered.

I've done this multiple times exactly how you explain but it only allows me to get two when I'm trying to get the third one and I go to my PC only one of the two starters spawn the other one despawns so I can't get three I can only get two

Discovered if you do it at just the right time, you can make the starter disappear completely ;w; (I did it a bit too late and both the starters I had weren't in the PC anymore)
PLEASE NOTE: Do NOT nickname the first two starters. They will have what's called an unterminated nickname, and will be unusable in battle; the text will show as "Go! ???????????Y nr ?? L??????????????????? ??????B?????????????" and the screen will glitch out. Another thing to note: If you do this while having another game and don't save before getting the pokémon, when you do the glitch and continue the other game, your starter will show up on the computer there too
I have been trying to do this for weeks now. I feel like I understand the timing, but whenever I get to the Pokémon Center in Cherrygrove to see if it works, it is just gone. Did they patch it out in an update to the 3DS VC or am I just doing it too early? I keep trying to reset just after the “Saving… Don’t turn off the power.” text finishes appearing and when I boot up the file, I respawn back at New Bark in front of the starters, but no luck once I get to Cherrygrove.
Legit just did it 2 minutes ago. I’d say wait half a second after the period pops up and then press the screen. Took me a couple tries but hang on in there. If you have a phone do a stopwatch. Someone told me to wait till 3 seconds but that seemed too long so I just did 2.5 seconds
To save a little bit more time, catch 2 Pokemon when you've got your first starter and clone one of them alongside the starter. This way you are ready to clone again as soon as you pick the second starter.
As of March 17th 2023 it works I don't know why people post it like they'd patch something like this but just so people don't worry. The timing is very difficult I tried like 2 hours yesterday gave up, tried 30 mins today and got it. Here's what I did in order to get the timing perfect for me it's worked every time now. I went on google typed in stop watch timer and my text speed is on fast unsure if it matters though, I would hit overwrite save and start the watch at the exact same time, right when I seen 2 seconds I hit the screen because your reaction time will account for the rest don't try to time it for 2 seconds but let yourself have a normal reaction and hit the screen which would be like 2.5/2.6 seconds and that worked for me. Good luck!
I finally managed to get the timing right and after I got a singular pokéball of my Cyndaquil I encountered a shiny Sentret. So now my team is shiny Sentret, Totodile and Cyndaquil! P.S.: Sorry Chikorita.
Thank you!! You really just have to watch for the period and then hit the screen about 1/3 second after it shows. I waited about 1/2 second and it was too long, had to redo it. On a side note, it’s lame that only the last starter you pick shows up in the Pokédex! You can just breed them to get eggs, I guess.

Can this get patched? I’ve done this before on a new 3ds but I’ve been at it for about an hour on a 2ds and have gotten it to work but my starter has a glitches name.
eventually got it to work! (tip: say "one-onethousand two-onethousand three" for timing, tapping/resetting on "three", and starting the countdown as soon as you select yes. helped me a ton and is how i do the cloning glitch) first time i had all three, for some reason my Totodile stole my Cyndaquil's nickname (Obby, she was originally called Tam and I guess she didnt like that lmfao) and the Cyndaquil ended up corrupted (her name now ???????????R, or simply ? in the party) so i reset to remove the corruption (since others say it crashed their games, Obby works just fine dispite the name corruption, so if you get that its fine i guess?) but they also dont show up in the pokedex i noticed? even after fighting the rival totodile still doesnt show up as caught. i guess i just gotta breed them for it to count? Either way im takin it!
I really appreciate you taking the time to do this tutorial, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I guess my timing is bad. I followed everything you did but I had no way of skipping mr.pokemon so I did this 8 or 9 times and can't do it. This is extremely difficult. Idk why they didn't just put all three starters in the game like pokemon yellow. I know it was special but I look at yellow like a third game for red and blue. I've been trying several times with different timing when to shut the game off but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. Only once my Totodile appeared in the box but the name changed to "????????" And when I tried to battle with it the game just froze... Does anyone knows if it has been patched for 3DS (VGC) ?? Tried this on Gold and it worked like a charm but I'm wondering if it still works on Crystal.. *Edit: FINALLY got it !
This really works and I did it and too get the pokeball you gotta do the professor elm quest , beat the rival, get the poke balls from the elm assistant and finally put the pokeball on the starter you pick but make sure you’re on mid speed
2024, I cannot figure for the life of me why this isn't working for me. at what point do I press the screen to initiate the reset. like what point in the save message do I start to reset the game for the glitch to work. I can't tell if it's too early or too late. it makes no sense.
This doesn't seem to work. I've tried several times, tried several ways when to restart the game when saving and every time it seems like I get it, I choose different starter, head over to cherrygrove, to check the pc box for the previous starter, it's just empty. Nothing seems to work.
Same here. I've counted the seconds like others suggested, anything 3 seconds+ results in a save at the pc. Anything before that results in a empty pc box. Are we sure this hasn't been patched? Would seem extremely unlikely being an old game and all but nothing has been working for myself or others Would like to see someone showing otherwise, would be greatly appreciated.

Halfway through save, before it says savi..., after the period shows up, etc. I get an empty box in crystal as well when I attempt this. I saw on someone else's video, a girl said it didn't work a few months ago in the comments for her either. If someone could post a new video of them getting it to work and the method they used, that would be nice.
I can only get 2 starters. The first one I picked always stays the same (cyndaquil) and whichever one I picked to be my third makes the second Pokémon disappear!
So I know it's a bit old, but... How DID you get the Pokeballs before dooing the glitch? Can you make a tutorial about that if you haven't already, and if you already did make a tutorial, where might I find it?
I don't think it can be re-nicknamed, that happens when you reset slightly too early, but you can try. You can also just use the totodile like that as well.
I failed the 2nd time, but it’s a little bit different then Silver, in Silver Version I can get it right instantly, but in Crystal Version, you gotta do it a little bit later after the Period shows during Saving. That’s what I noticed. But some times it would corrupt my whole PC, I would have to wait for awhile, then go back and release everything in that PC Box
I tried this glitch but the Totodile in my box is just ?????????? until the question marks run off the screen. Throwing him in battle crashes the game. Help?
I had no friends to trade with when this game came out. And today I find out there was a cloning glitch for all the starters. I need to go back in time and tell my past self.
It works! It took me two and a half days, but I got it to work! You the man! Everybody, just count to three when the period comes up! It should help! 👍😂👍
@@kremlin_unlimited Its a quick three seconds. Keep trying! You will get it. You can also check to see if you got it right by checking the pc in the pokemon center.
The worst glitch I ever found on my own on Crystal. Was the one that makes your pokemon storage box turn whatever Pokemon you deposit into it, into another random Pokemon. You can literally just deposit, and withdraw till you have the full pokedex. Before finishing the first gym. Dangers of this glitch were costly though.... -You will lose any Pokemon you deposit. Cause it becomes something else. -The glitch is almost entirely irreversible. When I did it, it wouldn't stop, even if I started a new file.
i tried this so many times the timing is so bad i only got it to work like once and i attempted it about 10 times its so much easier in gold and silver
Dumb question but is it possible to get all three starters as shinies through this method? You know? I already figured that you do not to save in Cherrygrove City! But say you save before you pick any starter Pokémon at all. Then you pick Totodile for example, SR for a shiny Totodile, go all the way to Mr. Pokémon’s house, and then give the Pokéball to Totodile and deposit it in the storage system. And do all those steps, after you SR and you end up back in Professor Elm’s lab is it possible to save in front of Chikorita’s Pokéball and do this process over for each starter until they’re shiny? You probably already answered this particular question in a previous video but I just wanted to make sure! Anyway, thank you for making this video tutorial!
Question: I am going to fill up my pokedex in pokemon sun ultra version. Will this glitch corrupt the starters so that they cant be transffered via poketransponder and pokebank?
@@EmmaJadeXY the only game you cant ttansfere is pokemon platinum and diamond and Pearl. If you dont transfer to b/w The V.C version of gen 1 and 2 is still trasnfetreble via poke trasporter

But would evolution on the clones be enough for those entries? These will easily evolve before getting to the daycare

first time i had all three, for some reason my Totodile stole my Cyndaquil's nickname (Obby, she was originally called Tam and I guess she didnt like that lmfao) and the Cyndaquil ended up corrupted (her name now ???????????R, or simply ? in the party) so i reset to remove the corruption (since others say it crashed their games, Obby works just fine dispite the name corruption, so if you get that its fine i guess?) but they also dont show up in the pokedex i noticed? even after fighting the rival totodile still doesnt show up as caught. i guess i just gotta breed them for it to count? Either way im takin it!

I really appreciate you taking the time to do this tutorial, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I guess my timing is bad. I followed everything you did but I had no way of skipping mr.pokemon so I did this 8 or 9 times and can't do it. This is extremely difficult.
Idk why they didn't just put all three starters in the game like pokemon yellow. I know it was special but I look at yellow like a third game for red and blue. So crystal is like yellow version since it's the third game to gold/silver. Thanks gamefreak . -_-
I've been trying several times with different timing when to shut the game off but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. Only once my Totodile appeared in the box but the name changed to "????????" And when I tried to battle with it the game just froze...
Does anyone knows if it has been patched for 3DS (VGC) ?? Tried this on Gold and it worked like a charm but I'm wondering if it still works on Crystal..

This really works and I did it and too get the pokeball you gotta do the professor elm quest , beat the rival, get the poke balls from the elm assistant and finally put the pokeball on the starter you pick but make sure you’re on mid speed

2024, I cannot figure for the life of me why this isn't working for me. at what point do I press the screen to initiate the reset. like what point in the save message do I start to reset the game for the glitch to work. I can't tell if it's too early or too late. it makes no sense.
This doesn't seem to work. I've tried several times, tried several ways when to restart the game when saving and every time it seems like I get it, I choose different starter, head over to cherrygrove, to check the pc box for the previous starter, it's just empty. Nothing seems to work.
Same here. I've counted the seconds like others suggested, anything 3 seconds+ results in a save at the pc. Anything before that results in a empty pc box. Are we sure this hasn't been patched? Would seem extremely unlikely being an old game and all but nothing has been working for myself or others

@@TheKaiserSiege it works for gold and silver no problem, I tried shortly after my post. But crystal nothing seemed to work. Halfway through save, before it says savi..., after the period shows up, etc. I get an empty box in crystal as well when I attempt this. I saw on someone else's video, a girl said it didn't work a few months ago in the comments for her either. If someone could post a new video of them getting it to work and the method they used, that would be nice.

I can only get 2 starters. The first one I picked always stays the same (cyndaquil) and whichever one I picked to be my third makes the second Pokémon disappear!

I don't think it can be re-nicknamed, that happens when you reset slightly too early, but you can try. You can also just use the totodile like that as well.
Ha use it lol ya right it glitches out my game and freezes EVERY time if I even get into a battle with it
I failed the 2nd time, but it’s a little bit different then Silver, in Silver Version I can get it right instantly, but in Crystal Version, you gotta do it a little bit later after the Period shows during Saving. That’s what I noticed. But some times it would corrupt my whole PC, I would have to wait for awhile, then go back and release everything in that PC Box
I saw the blue version of Golds sprite and thought you did the trainer color glitch so he has Kris' color scheme. :)
I did! it was the same file that I used for the color glitch video I made, it was probably the only thing that wasn't discolored. :{
I tried this glitch but the Totodile in my box is just ?????????? until the question marks run off the screen. Throwing him in battle crashes the game. Help?
You got a bad clone. Useless for cloning, very useful for amazing glitches in your game like catching Celebi.

I had no friends to trade with when this game came out. And today I find out there was a cloning glitch for all the starters. I need to go back in time and tell my past self.
How do you make the starters show up in the pokedex?
Maybe find a ditto and breed to get an egg from each?

The worst glitch I ever found on my own on Crystal. Was the one that makes your pokemon storage box turn whatever Pokemon you deposit into it, into another random Pokemon. You can literally just deposit, and withdraw till you have the full pokedex. Before finishing the first gym.
Dangers of this glitch were costly though....
-You will lose any Pokemon you deposit. Cause it becomes something else.
-The glitch is almost entirely irreversible. When I did it, it wouldn't stop, even if I started a new file.

i tried this so many times the timing is so bad i only got it to work like once and i attempted it about 10 times its so much easier in gold and silver
Dumb question but is it possible to get all three starters as shinies through this method? You know? I already figured that you do not to save in Cherrygrove City! But say you save before you pick any starter Pokémon at all. Then you pick Totodile for example, SR for a shiny Totodile, go all the way to Mr. Pokémon’s house, and then give the Pokéball to Totodile and deposit it in the storage system. And do all those steps, after you SR and you end up back in Professor Elm’s lab is it possible to save in front of Chikorita’s Pokéball and do this process over for each starter until they’re shiny? You probably already answered this particular question in a previous video but I just wanted to make sure! Anyway, thank you for making this video tutorial!

Will this glitch corrupt the starters so that they cant be transffered via poketransponder and pokebank?
The earliest gen you can trade all the way up is gen 3 so G/S/C can't make that jump
