Professor Oak is really scary strong in the Pokémon adventures manga. He also completely traumatized Green during the league tournament. I mean the guy brings a team of all bird Pokémon to use against a girl who was carried off into the woods by a huge bird Pokémon.
Exactly. Wasn't even a speedrun. It was just him breaking the game as much he can fast as he can. If you dont actually battle the final 4, then its not legit.
Seeing the absurd amount of effort that needs to go into being able to pull off these game-breaking glitches, I can understand why the devs never patched it out.
The yolo ball thing reminds me of holding A+up or B+down when throwing a ball. Allegedly it guarantees capture, and all the times it doesn't work are because you didn't time it right. It's all BS though, and the tricks here only work because it's coming off a fresh reboot which resets the RNG and then you do button presses that aren't too hard to reproduce perfectly, getting the RNG to spit out the numbers you want -- Spearow on this tile, and then a successful full-health capture. Holding buttons randomly like A+up when tossing the ball might affect the RNG, but you'll never know the difference unless you use savestates and change what you press and when. So for normal gameplay it's like blowing on the dice and giving them a couple extra shakes before rolling them.
Funnily enough, Charmander actually does better at RB solo runs than Squirtle with Bulbasaur being the best. But I guess you can at least use Squirtle for Surf.
Considering how broken the game is, you honestly could've explained the category in the beginning haha I will also die on the hill that the timer should start with the first inputs but that's not up to me :) Nice video. I love these showcase style speedruns
Yeah, that makes sense to me. I mean, if what you're inputting directly effects how the run will go, then it doesn't make sense for it to not be part of the timer
How to speedrun Pokémon Step 1 get a Harvard degree Step 2 write down 49 different things and memorize them Step 3 beat sans blindfolded Step 4 learn how to do a quadruple backflip And finally step 5 summon the bird legendary Pokémon missingno to get a 000.1 Millisecond speedrun in Pokémon red
it's quite interesting how hitmonlee appears in the title screen as if you've received a reward for inputting a secret code or something, but it's just a glitch lol
the only thing i found out as a kid about this form of manipulation is that if you name your trainer Red in pokemon red, you will find mewtwos on the coastline you go to when doing the missingno glitch

Pokemon has no swearing what are you on about? if you choose to name you're character something dumb which we all did that's your brain not the game "including" swearing
@@chrisspotts7523 but newer pokemon games do have censors on what you can name yourself or your pokemon
I get so much nostalgia with just the way the whole world is drawn. I get this deep feeling of peace, especially at the beginning of the game.
This reminds me of the credits warp glitch in Super Mario Bros 3. They both have a weird noise play before warping to the end of the game
Good lord, just how on Earth can anyone possibly stumble on that glitch on their own.
One of the coolest runs yet lovin it 😎

Kids: mash a/b button when throwing a ball to increase superstition of catching a pokemon.
Speezy showing us how it's actually done: 4:30
i love these speedruns
Man this makes the missingno rare candy glitches seem like chump change. Absolutely wild. Agree with everyone saying “how did people figure it all out?”
"Then we need to take this exact path while doing a total of four A presses"
pannenkoek wants to know your location.
An A press is an A press. You can't say it's only half.
This feels like a joke about how silly and crazy speedruns are
It’s like a little kid playing pretend with their friends and after winning crowning themselves champion, I love it.
I remember when i was really young and my mom gave me her old game boy to play this with. The first time i ever beat it was with a level 100 golduck from the missingno glitch.
Professor Oak is really scary strong in the Pokémon adventures manga. He also completely traumatized Green during the league tournament. I mean the guy brings a team of all bird Pokémon to use against a girl who was carried off into the woods by a huge bird Pokémon.
Getting inducted into the Pokémon Hall of Fame for defeating a Bug Catcher seems legit to me.
The fact that this video was 8 minutes long makes me rethink my childhood
Right? How the hell did it take me months to beat this game if these guys can do it in 8 minutes. I must be terrible at it.
@J Dude Give up on your dreams
That's funny . I thought for sure that was 8 hours
so imagine, your life ending very very young, and you not being here today to type this ( in that same logic )
Spending 120 hours beating the game has a kid and seeing it could had been over in less than 20 minutes.. Heartbreaking 😂 🤣
I want my 253 seconds back. That was nothing short of simply, incredibly dumb.
Exactly. Wasn't even a speedrun. It was just him breaking the game as much he can fast as he can.
If you dont actually battle the final 4, then its not legit.
7:20 when your glitched walk is in perfect rhythm with the music
Viridian Forest has a catchy theme.
I feel like, if you need to do frame perfect inputs before the game officially ‘starts’, the speedrun timer should start during that point.
exactly
Me, thinking EazySpeezy was somewhat niche
EazySpeezy: *literally trending on TH-cam*
Seeing the absurd amount of effort that needs to go into being able to pull off these game-breaking glitches, I can understand why the devs never patched it out.
"patched it" lmfao

i like to imagine the sound at 7:17 was the bug catcher capping your knees so that's why you can't walk properly
This is pretty insane. I always felt like pressing odd buttons and directions through out those games had some strange effects.

I love how you chose charmander just bcuz it was closest to you xD The only reason to choose charmander.
Funnily enough, Charmander actually does better at RB solo runs than Squirtle with Bulbasaur being the best. But I guess you can at least use Squirtle for Surf.
@@rainpooper7088 Bulbasaur is always the best after all.
@@rainpooper7088 Bulbasaur is best for early game
I don't even understand how this is possible or how people find this kind of stuff out but love watching it
Considering how broken the game is, you honestly could've explained the category in the beginning haha
I will also die on the hill that the timer should start with the first inputs but that's not up to me :)
Nice video. I love these showcase style speedruns
Yeah, that makes sense to me. I mean, if what you're inputting directly effects how the run will go, then it doesn't make sense for it to not be part of the timer
How to speedrun Pokémon
Step 1 get a Harvard degree
Step 2 write down 49 different things and memorize them
Step 3 beat sans blindfolded
Step 4 learn how to do a quadruple backflip
And finally step 5 summon the bird legendary Pokémon missingno to get a 000.1 Millisecond speedrun in Pokémon red
ty for this awesome and nostalgic video❤️
So much nostalgia for those games, but man that music really gets to you and pains your head
i love to imagine how they discovered this glitch
it's quite interesting how hitmonlee appears in the title screen as if you've received a reward for inputting a secret code or something, but it's just a glitch lol
"We were so unlucky we have 1 hp"
"Me trying to beat the champion with 1 hp and raging"
read this as "broken blue speedruns are incredibly broken" and was wondering if this was a new rom hack
the only thing i found out as a kid about this form of manipulation is that if you name your trainer Red in pokemon red, you will find mewtwos on the coastline you go to when doing the missingno glitch

I have played the Pokemon series since 2004. Of all the content I’ve seen/played, I never knew how complex Red/Blue is
I've played it since 2012.
thx for playing this game it is an absolute masterpiece.
Love the commentary along with it !

Still a great game and much better than the cruddy pathetic Sword and Shield and Scarlet Violet

@@theterminator546 Its one of the msot hated games. For me its the lack of Pokemon from the previous regions being available is just plain dumb and the switch cartridges CAN INDEED HAVE ENOUGH STORAGE TO HAVE THE MAIN GAME AND THIS AS A FEATURE. GameFreak lied and got lazy and said they were "working on animations and models!" but its been proven most of the models are just ripped from the 3DS games and upscaled with barely any improvements...woah shocker... Terrible route and cave design that were COMPLETELY linear with the lack of RPG dungeon designs that made exploring in gens 1-6 amazing. Barely any of the new Pokemon are good (toxtricity is one of the few good ones). Starter trio is completely laughable in design and stats. Terrible post game unless you shell out £30 which is a ripoff and the DLC isn't even worth it either. Side characters where bad, marnie was so bland and lame, hop was so annoying and bede tried so hard to be silver but just couldn’t do it. The graphics are poor and look straight out of the N64 or gamecube especially comparing it to something like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the KIngdom BOTH MADE FOR THE SAME CONSOLE.
The only decent characters are Bede, Marnie, Piers, and maybe Opal. Everyone else is either obnoxious or lacks any intelligence. Hop is annoying but I can tolerate him like I tolerated Hau, but I really really hate Leon. One of the worst characters in all of Pokemon, maybe THE worst. There really wasn't any major story either. The bit with Rose at the end was pointless. They really should have just had Piers cause trouble because his town was being left behind and you have to mediate between Rose and Piers. The routes feel way too short and the wild area is way too small and uninteresting. The wild area really needs multiple separate biomes. Basically take the gen 7 routes and expand them to the size of a wildlands area or two. Or just find a happy middleground. Great idea. Horrible execution.

People commenting about how short this is and how long it took you to beat the game - peeople like EazySpeezy have probably racked up more time in-game in these games than all of us 'casual gamers' combined. It takes them countless hours to perfect this craft.
Kudos bro
I don't really understand how this qualifies as a speedrun.
there are multiple categorys. Each off those have their own runs. This is any% category which means all glitches are allowed. It counts as speedrun because anyone can use these stuff so it's still a race to get the fastest time

Imagine waking up one day to get a rare fire breathing lizard, ditching it for the first grumpy bird you see, finding an electrical mouse in front of a grumpy bugcatcher, blacking out and waking up in a Pokemon hospital (assumably brought back by the grumpy bugcatcher), then after beating 3 trainer battles that guy that just handed you a rare animal a few minutes ago says you're inducted into the Hall of Fame. I'd think I was stuck in a weird coma and hadn't woke up yet.

I love pokemon. It’s one of my favorite games of all time. Thanks for speed running it! Can’t wait to see you do more in the future!
This speedrun broke my brain. I really wish I hadn't lost my copy of Blue right now.
The Gen 1 games are so broken and manipulatable that I can never tell if stuff like this are trolls or actual real methods.
Having watched the fully optimized BDSP WR route, it's real
It’s so interesting to see how people figure these things out.
Classic speedrunning. Do a combination of obscure things to tear apart reality, and hope that reality recovers once you've taken the cosmic shortcut.
This is what I love about speedruns. The fact that they figured this out at all is both insane and hilarious.
the fact that someone managed to find out there was some perfect path to take in Viridian forest to manipulate the rng in this way.... It really surprises the complexity of bugs sometimes and the fact that somehow ppl still manage to find them.
-How much time will it take you to speedrun Pokemon Blue?
-Yes
All I want to know is how the hell was any of this discovered
Probably someone into tech looking into the game's code

it got broken down ingame first, but for the real hard crack stuff actually looking into the memory was neccessary (like this run)
I really like how you can a.c.e your way into this game but people take the time to do just enough so that you can still a.c.e the game but with a little scenario
Hey man. You can speedrun hollow knight. It is a hard but fun game to speedrun. The world record is something like 32 min.
