It's a shame that the very old people who played the game when it came out on the Gameboy Color passed away before it was released on the Virtual Console for the Nintendo 3DS and never witnessed this Celebi event.
I'm so glad that they enabled this event permanently and globally. A really nice treat and a perfect post-Elite Four reward. I recently bought Crystal and I plan on playing it once I finish my long-dormant file of Moon since I had been burnt out on the series for over half a decade. I'll be glad once I obtain this Mythical! I'm still quite happy to have the gift one from Bank. Celebi is my favourite Mythical Pokémon!

@@kingthebingg9433 Well, yeah. This Celebi Event is permanent. It's one of the first-ever too, so making it permanent for a rerelease of an old-ass game is how it should be. It'd be dumb to make it a limited time thing.
If the Generation 3 games ever come to Nintendo Switch Online, I hope they make it so the Events can be unlocked as well. Fans should get to experience the awesome Ho-Oh, Lugia, Deoxys, Latias/Latios and Mew events.
Damn. I remember trying all of the "how to catch celebi" tutorials I could find back in the day (and obviously failing). The fact that I could never catch one in the game boy version was frustrating. I can't believe I can finally do this.
Back in the years i had every pokemon including mew on my savegame except celebi. After a time i started a new savegame and my friend got me celebi with cheatcode. I think resetting the game there was the error of my Life :D

@@t4rif4ri How do you get to Mew in Red/Blue? Every video on YT is some sort of bug/glitch that gets Mew, was it even possible to get it legitimately? If not, what was even the point of putting Mew in the game.
@@reservationatdorsias3215 no, it wasnt. I just wanted to have all pokemon :D mew was possible with the glitch, which wasnt possible for celebi
Such a positive and happy video! I love Celebi. I normally don't care for legendaries, but Celebi is a rare exception due to how I could never get one before and it's so adorable.
Upon transferring, Celebi will have a Timid nature by default. The nature depends on the last two digits in its XP gain. To get a Timid nature, have the last two digits end on either 10, 35, 60, or 80.

You don't need to do this clock reset trick. All you need to do is close the game and change the day on your 3DS in the settings.

To this day I think a celebi in gen 2 was the hardest to catch. There wasn't much info on the internet for it back then, and 3rd grade me was so confused on how to get it. I finally learned that you needed a GS ball to even start the process, and so I'd literally go all over the game talking to NPC's on how to get one LOL. The time we spent on those games was monumental. We would have never known that the GS ball was only available from an online mobile device only in Japan. Good times tho.
The GS ball was the friends we made along the way.
@rifasclub oh, dude yeah I messed with all the glitches on mygameboy lite like 4 years ago and completed the dex in all gen 1 and 2 games. Hahah

You made reseting your in game crystal clock so much easier then most online forums, im rubbish at math and was so confused by the math terms so thank you for making the process so so simple through your information and linked websites you use.

I heard they also have a mystery event going on for sun and moon for a year you can get celebi for free....so long as you own thoes games. but at least with crystal you can do the dupe glitch and get infinite celebi's

Pokemon Gen 2 Crystal especially is my favorite Pokemon game as there is so much to do in it. The game alone is worth that money at least to me as I have a lot of nostalgia for it. The Celeibi is a nice bonus

I had crystal when I was young lad, (I still do with my Gameboy Advanced SP but the cartridge can no longer save) so I'm glad I can finally do this
you can send your cartridge to a game stkre called DKoldies and theyll replace the battery to your cartridge. id suggest doing so if you have the OG crystal cartridge. the battery is just ljke a watch battery. thats how the games can hold a save file

I think when a Pokemon from the VCs are transferred to the 3DS games I think some of their stats transform with 31 IVs (I read this in Bulbapedia).

Im currently beating pokemon crystal now on my 2ds in order to have a chance at shiny hunting it, I was able to get shiny Dialga in 262 SRs and shiny Azelf in a little under 3000 SRs in diamond, so I'm hoping for that luck to come back for this hunt as well!

What exp corresponds to different natures? Smogon recommends Timid; + Speed, - Attack.

I like how Nintendo is bringing back all this stuff we could never get outside of Japan, examples include this event in this video, and Earthbound beginnings. Let's hope Nintendo somehow brings back the Arceus event we could never access and that weird event in the weird cave from Fire Red and Leaf Green.

I thought Altering Cave was to be modified by scanning eReader cards, which (deservedly) nobody ever gave a shit about.
It worked. You needed an E-card reader and an E-card.
Maybe it will finally happen when Diamond and Pearl are finally remade.

Actually for me its gen 2 and 6 why two? Because you could play gen 2 without worrying about pokemons ev and iv. People say it doesnt matter in the play through but it does even good pokemon can be bad if it has bad ivs... gen 2 didnt have that you didnt have to care about anything its the best for casual play. But since ev and iv came into play the best is gen 6 with all the enhancements its even better than gen 7because it has national Pokedex. Plus you dont have to spend bp on mega stones.

You’re not the only one, I’m with ya.
You can clone Pokémon in Generation 2. I cloned my legendaries and shinies and transferred it to the latest Generation.

@@josephgomesg5558 on the original gameboy the was a bug: basicly when transfering pokemon to different pc boxes and then turn off the game while "SAVING DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER" resulting in the data being in both places. Howevee it was risky. pokemons could also dissapair instead. or even weirder shit: my HO-OH disappaired and my MEWTWO had the name and stats of HO-OH. So yea the cloning only works on the original gameboy and not in the emulator

I remember as a kid telling school ground myths about ways to get the gs ball in NA. All matter of nonsense was shared as wisdom. Much like the trick to get mew by using cut then strength on the truck just outside of the ss Anne in red/blue/yellow. Simpler times...
Ok. I didn't know I could get this on my 2DS XL! I just got it today!
At first, I thought that you would be required to download something from either the Nintendo e-shop or the official Pokemon website for this event to work in Crystal. I am glad that's not the case. It shows that this isn't just simply Game Freak dumping a simple ROM of the game and charging you for it, because even on the emulator, you would have to use a cheat code in order to activate this event. I am so glad you can get a Celebi legitimately now. Even if, it's almoast two decades after the game was first released.

I still have the gameboy version of Pokémon Crystal and I have Celebi in it. XD. All I did was use a Gameshark cheat code to get the GS Ball and trigger the event. It was sooooooo cool. 😆

He probably did the mew glitch in the virtual console version of red, blue and yellow and tranfered the Mews to crystal version

Yes, as it was in gen 3, gen 4, and gen 5. Real fans are usually aware of this. In gen 6, it was cut in half, and again in gen 7.
