- The strawberry and hugelkultur bed are long overdue a tidy up, its been 3 years since I cleared all the old strawberries out and started again with just 12 plants I kept, and what was a hugelkultur bed has been overtaken with grass. I want to keep my strawberries of different ages separate and the area needs to be as maintenance free as possible. With these 2 goals in mind we start on a mini allotment clearance adventure, whether it is the best sort of weather to be doing this is debatable but who doesn't mind a bit of mud?
Oh and I built a hill ;)

You were not kidding with out of control strawberries, half way up the grassy knoll. Lol, maybe do a bit of shaping on the hill and make a nice grass lounge chair out of it. Or get your hands on a bunch of bulbs and plant them all over the hill, that would look nice when everything is in bloom.
Good to see you have a little buddy at the plot, always fun to take a break and watch the birds.
Hey great minds and all that - it did cross my mind to make a massive chair out of it, and bulbs are happening hopefully. I'll finalise the shape once this cold snap is over, but to be honest I'm dreaming about the changes I'm going to make to the clubhouse on the new plot. That robin was great, as you may already know I've got some magpies nesting at the back and they've been around for a couple of years but stay away from me, so that was a great encounter. Cheers

Haha that might have been a better option, it's dried out a bit now. I just wanted to get it finished as I've got a lot of winter jobs I want to get done, hopefully I won't need to touch it again this year. Thanks for the comment, cheers

you are like me once i set a number i have to achieve it even when i know i havel done more than enough
I've sort of scrimped on things before and I just wanted to do this once and leave it, once you get going you're ok aren't you, was pretty hard work though, but the flat tyre didn't help. Thanks for the comment, cheers
@@DigDaveDig It is definitely better to finish even if it knacers you. The wheelbarrow issue definitely made it worse 😭 I’m waiting on a new wheelbarrow as mine is wonky beyond belief

Well that would have warmed you up 👍. It’s absolutely beautiful today blue skies and sunshine 😢 but the price of that is high winds and freezing cold temperatures 🥶. Predictions are for it to get as low as minus 17c at night. It what are we going to do it’s winter in Canada 🇨🇦. Have a super week if I missed it Happy New Year and here’s to an awesome 2024, Ali 🥶🇨🇦
