    I see most of the top comments are people complaining about the size. I've been using a 27" 1440p monitor since 2016 and I love the size but the pixel density isn't where I want it. I've tried a 4k 32" monitor but it's too big while sitting roughly 3 ft away and game UI elements end up too far outside of my peripheral vision. I must be in the minority of people who want more pixel density and not a bigger monitor.

      100% agreed, been using a 28" 4k monitor for a long time and I love the pixel density, I have just been waiting for a higher refresh rate one and with the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 this monitor is a no brainer buy for me.

      He is quite biased in this review. He is telling the viewers (and most of them are no tech nerds) that this Monitor is a better deal than the GN950 because the LG Monitor has no HDMI 2.1. This is biased because he 100% knows that the GP model has HDMI 2.1.
      But hey, Fanboys of TH-cam channels dont like to talk about that, just look at the most liked comments under each video, its always bs comments like „moustache“ and shit like that instead of talking about the actual product or about the review.... quite sad

      Probably not a large enough demand in the market, 27/28 inch seem to be far more common. But I agree, with 4k in the future a 32 inch screen will be a must, with such a gorgeous resolution that can look so amazing when you have the hardware to have all the bells and whistles turned on, larger than 27 inch is very desirable (when 4k becomes cheaper, like with how 27 inch became the 1440p standard, I'm certain we'll start to see more 32 inch monitors on the market that don't cost the price of a cheap car).

      No fucking idea, 4k is stupid at 28 even though it's visibly better than 1440p at that size. Either give us 32 4k or an in-between resolution for 27,28, the resolution gap is too big to justify the same size and the loss in performance.

    Hi Tim. Does this monitor lock the OD mode when in its sRGB mode? In the M28U review, you mentioned that this panel was locked to the 'Smart OD' mode when in sRGB mode. In the review of this VG28UQL1A you did not mention if the OD modes was locked is using its sRGB mode. I trust my question makes sense.
    Also, just on a related question, what effect does using a 4K panel have on the idle power of a GPU? I have noticed that in the Windows 10 desktop at 60Hz on my 1440p panel, my GPU (reference 6900XT) idles at between 6-8W, but if I select a 75Hz refresh the idle power jumps to 33-36W and there is a corresponding rise in GPU temp. Clearly the GPU is working harder to pump out 75 fps compared to 60fps, even when at idle on the Widows desktop. I have been considering moving to one of these newer 28" 4K panels, but am concerned that my GPU's idle power and temps, given the basic pixel pushing my GPU will have to do over a 1440p panel, will push my card to a temp where the fans have to come on periodically, and I would find this really annoying. Have you or Steve done any analysis/testing of idle power at different panel resolutions and/or refresh rates?

    • @Jhakaro
      @Jhakaro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To get a HDR certification in terms of brightness, the monitor only has to have a peak brightness of that value or higher, not a standard brightness of that value. Also anything but HDR 1000 is pretty much a waste of money. There's practically no point. And even then, unless it has at least a few hundred backlit zones, if not thousands or an OLED, then you won't really get a huge benefit from it and it can in fact make your images look worse half the time. Like you can get amazing monitors that don't have HDR 1000 certification but if you're buying for HDR specifically, I'd focus more on the other monitor features and not HDR if it's 600 or below.

    Iam gaming for more than 20 years and on the PC, the optimal size is 24inch. The max you can go is 27inch, if you go higher than that then you can essentially forget competitive gaming and also get used to neck pain...
