    I bought this monitor 1 week ago and noticed quite high (compared to my experience with my old monitor) input lag, when playing on lower than native resultions. Yes, i upgraded to firmware F7 right from the start, so it isn't a problem with outdated software, but rather with signal processing delay. I'm writing this in case someone encounters the same issue in the future and to provide a fix/workaround for the given time. You can set the scaling method from "display" to "gpu" in the nvidia drivers, which completely eliminates the added input lag. Same goes for the AMD driver, but for that i don't know the exact settings since i don't own an AMD card myself. For some reason the monitor is slower in upscaling 1080p images than the gpu in this case.

    • @sachatend

      I've heard that if you often use alt+tab it has big delays when you switching from game to desktop and from desktop to the game which can be game change for those who often use alt+tab while gaming. Can someone confirm this?

    • @freekvanemaus
      @freekvanemaus หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sasharey3153 this usually depends on your whether your game is using "fullscreen" or "borderless" mode. If it's on "fullscreen" and using a different resolution than your desktop it can take longer.

    • @freekvanemaus
      @freekvanemaus หลายเดือนก่อน

      Monitor built-in upscaling is not really suitable for gaming, it's really only used for desktop applications and can produce input lag among other problems. Obviously the tiny chip in the monitor is nowhere near as powerful as a GPU. For in-game upscaling you should just set your display resolution to the native resolution of the display, and use DLSS, FSR or XeSS from the game menu when available. Lots of modern
      games support this. If not, just use the scaling from the driver settings but these are usually inferior in quality to the "AI" upscalers I mentioned before.

HDMI 2.1 is not 48gbps but works very well with PS5 and Nvidia RTX 3000 series. My problem is, I'm been comparing the monitor with my LG OLED CX and that's not good because the OLED TV is a beast. all I can say is, for the price of the monitor (I pay $800 plus taxes and shipping) is not a good value. TV's now are getting real closed or better than monitors, bringing gaming features like low input lag, zero ghosting, VRR, ALLM, HIG plus you got Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and apps. if you don't like big screen go for the 27 inch if you don't mind big size go for a TV with gaming features.

    It would be super useful for buyers if you could put a (subjective) scoring on how each monitor performs in the response time testing. For example, inverse ghosting 40% of score, input lag 15% etc etc. You could then give us a total “score” for each monitor based on their overall performance across all graphs based on your interpretation of what matters more to real world performance.

    Samsung's new 4k 144 Hz monitor is coming out soon as well. Can't wait for its review!
    I hate when people whine about how 1440p is good enough (good for them but 1440p looks like garbage to me) and how 4k does not need high refresh rate displays.
    To those people, this how you use it: You can just turn the resolution down to 1080p in-game and play with the high refresh rates! And play at 4k for the single player games with the lower frames (like Red Dead Redemption 2). -.-

      @@drunkhusband6257 Ah, I see. But, not for me though unfortunately. It's extremely obvious to me. I hate that it is since I'm forced to play at lower frames.
      I have a 4k 60 Hz monitor and a 1440p 240 Hz monitor currently.
      1440p is just 1.78x better than 1080p whereas 4k is literally 4x better than 1080p. The image looks so perfect!
      (For a 27 inch monitor, I don't mind it at 1800p because of the pixel density but nothing less than that)
      I think it's just that I am sensitive to this more than others. Some people don't even really consider graphics as a thing that factors into their gaming experience (not that I don't play games with bad graphics if is good in other areas). I'm the kind of person that goes bonkers when there's good graphics to the point that I would spend hours taking pictures of the game to only admire them later!

    I picked this one up with my new build in January 2023, I don't know if it's just mine, but mine makes a creaking/popping sound like metal expanding and rubbing plastic. Even when it gets turned off, it still makes that sound every couple of minutes for awhile after.

    I'm considering buying the M28U but I've seen many reviews complaining about black screen (maybe even shuts down) that appears for 4-5 seconds after exiting any full screen app (some people reported that this could be resolved by disabling G-Sync and FreeSync), have you experienced this issue?
    And also what do you think about the text sharpness and crispness as I intend to use this monitor for work as well and text sharpness is key for me.
    Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

      I have this monitor. Black screen is about 1-2 seconds when tabbing OUT, not into games. Have not been able to fix it but honestly got so used to it and that i am not bothered by it anymore. Sadly that’s just what you will most likely have to deal with

    It's nice to see a 4K monitor destroying models several times more expensive. The prices of 4K high refresh rate gaming monitors were stagnating for way too long. Hopefully this new model is successful and encourages competition.

    Does that mean this monitor is physically unable to do full 4:4:4 color at 4k120?

    What’s behind and beyond a screen should be a big if. And I'd like to chime in my experience.
    I got an M28U. A nasty bad one. The screen flickered from time to time. The worst scenario is it blacked out a second.; can’t say when or how often, like after how many minutes.
    Well. If you think a faulty monitor is bad enough, you’re in for a bigger trouble.That is Gigabyte’s service and attitude. Originally I wanted a replacement. They wouldn’t let you, unless they test it and make sure it’s not my wrongdoing. That’d leave me without a monitor. So I decided to return it and get refund.
    But the trouble did not end here. Gigabyte would not confirm refund before they check and test to their heart’s content. And they said it’d take a month.

    Got this monitor but it's constantly flicking to a black screen when I change apps (games/etc). I can't seem to find a fix.
    Edit: after a lot of searching and testing, apparently using freesync is what's causing it. I disabled it and no more black screens randomly.

      Update 2: Rarely had issues, now literally out of no where I've been getting black screens every 5-10 minutes. And I'm not even running anything that's graphical (just web browsing). At this point, I think I'm going to have to just get a different monitor, this isn't worth putting up with and gigabyte seems to just not give a damn.
