  • A step by step of the install of manual hubs. This is for Aisin hubs but would be the same for pretty much any manual hub.
    Here's a link to buy the hubs on amazon.

    First off, thanks for the video and for sharing your knowledge!
    How does this affect the super select 4wd system? Do the 4wd indicator lights still function as normal? What's the procedure for putting it in 4wd? Lock the hubs then throw the 4wd shifter into 4wd?
    I've been thinking about doing this to my 94 L400 Delica. I follow you on the gram! We're in Denver and will be in Moab with the Delica in a couple weeks, can't wait! Cheers man!

      Normal driving in 2wd is fine with no issues. If you do want to go into 4wd you need to lock the hubs and then you can use 4wd normally.

    If you lock the manual hubs, are the auto hubs still functioning as normal then, when you put it in and out of 4WD, or are auto hubs disabled when you swap assemblies?

    • @dahlenadventures

      There's no auto hub but when locked in place the 4wd will function normally.

    • @dahlenadventures

      Still work normally when you have the hubs locked. Basically when in 2wd it doesn’t matter since you aren’t using those functions. Once you lock the hubs the vehicle is like it would be normally and you can engage 4wd as you would.

    Hey ive got the same model pajero/montero back in South Africa. Id just lioe to know the advantages of changing the hubs to manual hubs. Its not thie first time ive heard of someone doing it just wondering for the future...

    • @dahlenadventures
      @dahlenadventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mostly it helps with wear on vehicle components. With hubs free all the front drivetrain isn’t moving when driving. Also makes for less drag on the vehicle so it’s helps with fuel mileage as well.

    @05bwin 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What's is the advantage for the free wheel hub ??

    • @dahlenadventures
      @dahlenadventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Less moving parts when in 2wd. Monteros/Pajeros ,even when in 2wd, the front diff and half of the transfercase are moving since it disconnects one side of the axle from the other. that's a lot of moving parts that don't need to be when not in use. Which mean more wear and drag. Manual hubs take care of that and make it so just the wheels are moving in 2wd.

      @@dahlenadventures Did you have the blinking front wheel AWD problem? Or does it do that all the time? I have the flashing 4wd problem, and Im wondering if its in 4hi all the time. Does the front drive shaft spin all the time?
