    Cool. Am about to pull apart my Toyota / AISIN hubs to replace brake disks and sort out driveshaft boots so hoovering up all content that’s out there. My van is similar vintage. I didn’t realise just how easy the flange swap was. Many thanks.

    Manual hubs for the win. I'd take them over the vacumn junk anyday lol

    What is the gasket that you mention at the end? Is that something else that I need to buy besides the hubs and if so could you drop a link for it? Thanks for the great video btw about to level up my 94 4runner

    I put some on my hilux and the cvs still spin slightly, lack of greasing maybe 🤔 or do the need some breaking in

    • @ils360
      @ils360  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure the splines in the locking hubs to the splines on the axles match and lock and fully unlock correctly if the CV axles are still spinning slightly it could just be due to the bearings in the axle end having a little bit of friction with the grease which is perfectly normal you just shouldn't be able to grab the CV axle itself and spin it and the tire at the same time if the CV axle spins the tire then it's definitely not unlocking correctly

    Did the hub conversion help with fuel mileage?

    • @ils360
      @ils360  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just a little bit but not enough to overcome the cost of new manual hubs if you can find them cheap like 30 40 bucks I would say it's worth it just make sure you're getting used quality parts not brand new garbage parts that will break on you

    Just wondering is it safe to remove the hub cover without cranking the wheel up?

    • @ils360
      @ils360  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah 👍 doesn't hold the wheel on Now messing with the bearings or lug nuts you would definitely want to but just taking the hub cover off you don't need to lift the truck

    I’m looking to do a manual hub swap on my 93 4runner, would I have to do anything with the vacuum lines or just leave them installed after swapping to manual hub?

    • @ils360
      @ils360  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can leave the vacuum lines as long as they do still function and lock up the axel mine was actually stuck in the locked position there are some that actually make a plate to go in there to keep it locked or get the actuator to go one direction and lock it in place somehowbut if you don't feel like removing them as long as it locks up and allows the four-wheel drive to work that's all you need

      @@ils360 Thank you for this information . I'm going to ask but I think I know the answer .Should I do this swap to manual locking hub ,I do not need to take apart but mount as it is assembled using alignment keys for assembly . Second I plan on new ,not rebuilds . Any suggestions . Ty Murphy .

    quick question about my 93? what do i do with the entire vacuum line assembly etc? mine works but should i remove it all or would that effect this

    • @ils360
      @ils360  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So there's a couple different directions you could go you could either leave it alone but still have the manual locking hubs being able to dislocate the wheels from the differential a little bit redundant but could be done number two you could disable the system move the fork over to the lock position and find a way to keep it there or three find a new axle shaft for the side that the vacuum lock and unlock solenoid sits on and replace it with a solid shaft getting rid of the need for that system at all I'm sure there are other avenues that you could go as well these are just a few of them.

    • @cammk9415
      @cammk9415 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ils360 thanks man is there any issue just doing the hub swap and leaving everything there? like will it basically be the same as an oem manual hub truck or is the engagement of 4x4 etc still not the swme

    • @ils360
      @ils360  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cammk9415 so having both systems in play it will be like having to different setups ultimately the original vacuum system will be the defining factor in whether the front wheels get the power or not but having the locking hubs will just be a secondary way of disabling that power. No problems and having both systems just kind of redundant and not really needed 🤷🏼‍♂️ seeing as the only thing different is having to get out and walk in the hubs unless you are worried about the original system failing and staying locked in

    That doesn't make any sense you're not telling us the whole story I have a 1990 am it's a full-time four-wheel drive but I want to put locking hubs in it it's a five-speed with a shifter from high low four wheel drive

    Did you put that gold bolt with washer back in before closing the hub up ?

    • @ils360
      @ils360  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it is no longer needed due to that being a part of the old hub system it would actually stop the new manual locking hubs from going on
