    HI mate, good show, moving the winch over 2" that mean's you'll have to drill 4 new holes, and the drum will not be in center with the fair lead, I would just rotate the winch motor a notch or two to clear the leaver for the cooler. When you incert the square nuts in to the winch, cover the hole with a bit of sticky tape, nut will not come out.

      Thanks for the tip! This is back when I was pretty new to winch installs and now I work at a shop that does lots of offroad vehicle outfitting and have learned soooo much. I might go back in and change the angle of the clutch to allow for clearance but there's also some other modifications and changes I've been thinking about too so we'll see!

    I'm designing a bumper for these right now. Also slotted and stuff, but heavier material for strength. Also, some of those weld joints could definitely be designed much stronger.

      Nice! It's good to see more people coming out with different products and things for the Montero/Pajero! There are some drawbacks from this bumper but I still really like it and prefer something a little lighter personally.

    Great video! Glad to see more Gen 2 content. I have that same android unit. I tried to install it, but no sound came out of it. I think it's because the factory radio has two extra round plugs that are the amp/sub. How did you get yours to work? Did you just hook up the one big connector, or did you also need to wire up the two extra plugs? Thanks!

    • @dahlenadventures
      @dahlenadventures 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I’ve been slower than I’d like to bring stuff out but hopefully I can get some more videos out on a regular basis. Did you plug into the upper connector where the three gauges are or the actual radio connector down below where the audio unit was. I used the actual audio connector and only needed to make my own ground for the harness since the original was grounded through the unit itself. Other than that that’s all I did and it works fine.

    hey man, i just got a winch and winch plate from ADD, I was wondering why you have an electrical disconnect for the winch. I don't understand winches as well as I should and don't understand why it is important, or if its something that isn't important. Also should I paint the winch plate to prevent corrosion? and I bought the ADD modular bumper, and would you recommend painting that as well? I have a year 2000 gen 2.5 Montero. Thank you so much and this video will help a ton as I install the winch in the coming weeks.

    • @dahlenadventures
      @dahlenadventures 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s basically a safety measure for when not using the winch. The wires to the winch are big and if they ever managed to come in contact with the body you will probably burn the vehicle down haha! A disconnect makes sure they aren’t live when the winch isn’t in use. Plus then no one can just have the ability to use the winch if you don’t want them to. And if there was ever a malfunction you can just shut it off there. Yeah I would paint it to help with corrosion. That’s why I did it. Glad the video helped!

    What happens with the all the vacuum bits that used to engage it ??

    • @dahlenadventures
      @dahlenadventures 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still work normally when you have the hubs locked. Basically when in 2wd it doesn’t matter since you aren’t using those functions. Once you lock the hubs the vehicle is like it would be normally and you can engage 4wd as you would.
