  • Today we got to check out Nathan's 1978 Cutlass supreme. Featuring an LS swap and Amazon turbos!!.... well just about everything was bought from amazon minus the fuel system! Which is just crazy! These turbos are rated to 600-700 and he has TWO of them!
    In his words - "Amazon covid build. Wastegates, turbos, blow off valves, headers, all piping, oil lines and drains, v-bands, short radiator...heck, even the stainless studs for the headers came from Amazon."

    When I was 16 my first car was a 78 Buick Century. Same chassis but wrapped in an ugly 4-door slant-back style sedan body. I thought these 78-80 Cutlasses were stuff! I love what he's done with this car! These days the 81-87 G-Bodies are gettin' all the love from GM fans, especially the Buick Regal/Grand National. Not much is said anymore about these early G-Bodies but as this guy shows they offer a ton of potential at a fraction of the price.

    Hello Nathan,Nice ride- i had a 79 2 tone green olds cutlass once...loved that car! It wasn't as hoped up as yours but 350 4 bolt was alright-- fast-.. i kept noticing my ass end was too light, finally, come across a rear hatch spoiler off of a 91 RS.. sanded it down, painted it in trim black, bolted in on, hooked up the 3rd brake light and it came out awesome! Made the ass end stay down and rode instantly better..plus allot of comps!

    Just extend a filler neck from the fuel cell to a small hole with a cap in the top of the fiberglass trunklid. That way you can simply flip up a lid to fill the cell without adding any significant weight.. and no random people talking/asking about your car.

      @@zakkcooper of just the turbo system? Headers, $100. Turbos, $249 x2. Wastegates, $40 x2. BOV, $35 x2. Universal intercooler piping, $120. Intercooler, $200. Drain hose and fittings, $78. Oil feed, $60. Feed adapter, $35. Exhaust piping, various sizes, $100. Misc fittings, v-bands, etc, $200. So, $1,549 to get it done and driving.
      Then I added the boost controller, SEP 1500s, magnafuel 4303 pump, fuel cell, meth kit and swapped the cam later. I just most recently changed the wheels and tires, added coil-overs all around and swapped in the Ford 8.8.

      I think some people are missing the important parts of the story. The first build in 2013 was done on the super cheap. Sold a bunch of projects and just got this one daily drivable. Then slowly upgraded over the years. Then this time all I did was add turbos sloppy style. It's really not as expensive as it looks.

    I used to have a 78 Cutlass Supreme. People came up to me, too, because the original gas fill is under the license plate on a flipdown hinge that was springloaded, so it didn't matter how or where I parked to fill. It was a great car and was quite luxurious on the inside, but the gas just got to be too much for it, I think it was something ridiculous like 10mpg or something like that since it's basically a land yacht in terms of weight and size.

    Why not add a fuel filler, in the center of that trunk lid? Something like the A/C Cobra, or Challenger have

    • @mr70camarors
      @mr70camarors 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thinking about that. Its somewhat popular to install a riser straight up to the middle of the trunk lid.

    Still amazed by this car. Just wondering what you did for the dipstick tube on the 4l80e? Swapping one into a 3rd gen firebird and looking for ideas. Thanks.

    Awesome car. Love the exhaust pipes coming out the front fenders. Saves the work and headaches of running them out the back. What made you decide on going with the Lq4? Was it a junkyard motor?

      I traded a bbc 177 mini-blower for it in 2008. It was a take-out from a guy that put a lower mile motor in his truck. I've just used it in multiple cars ever since, slowly changing and upgrading. Building a 414 stroker with twin billet 7875s currently.

    Just wondering what engine management system you went with? For those wanting to do this exact swap into a 3rd gen trans am/camaro, can you recommend a guide or build sheet (or website) to refer to for some of the trickier details of this swap? Thanks for the video. Truly inspiring.
