    wearing black gloves seems to be step one to being a professional detailer, seems like they all do it.

      Would you rather have dirty hand with dirt and chemicals or have gloves? We use black cause blue or white gloves get more dirty and you can see it and looks bad for the client.

    One loophole I ended up finding for a heated carpet extractor was using my shop vac diy extractor hooked up to my hot water tap for the washer. Dont have one so it was open. only drawback is needing the customer to come to me or have a hot water tap available. it works in a pinch and only cost me around $120

    Luke: The content of the video was very pertinent to you work model that you've incorporated and much of us know about. It may have been over-the-head for beginners, but for those whom have been in the business for a short time, had specific problem solving themes in which to draw from. Heck, I still over compensate by using your gimmick of rolling a micro-fiber into a mini-stand that holds a business card and mints (Remember)? Overall, no repetition, you didn't stumble, and the content was specific and to the point. Another job well done!!!

      Thank you so much Bill, always look forward to your feedback. This is definitely my favorite part of the youtube videos, being able to talk about business things like this. I truly think this type of detailing business model is best especially for young guys (which is a lot of my audience), and that's why Im teaching it this way in the course Im developing. Making 3-4K per month with auto detailing while working part time is so possible its crazy hahah

    As usual Luke you’re on the money - no pun intended. I’m a secondary school teacher coming up to retirement teaching engineering, design metalwork, woodwork and technical drawing. I’m currently only able to do weekends and holidays with the sun setting at 5pm as its coming to winter here. I would love to transition to your 4 hour a day model, but can you see that happening for me while I’m working full time? I have 5 regular customers (one who did the same thing to me last Friday as she spilt a casserole in the boot and the dog went nuts every time it got in the car trying to get to there food! My new Bissell extractor killed it. I too would like too use my teaching to educate as I go, but getting tie to edit my footage is an issue. Keep up this content as its great to hear ways to impress customers

    • @wilsonautodetailing
      @wilsonautodetailing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely man! Good questions for sure, I would say firstly, the fact that you already have 5 regular customers is pretty amazing as it sounds like you are still in the beginning stages. Double down on that model because I can tell you from experience that is where the real growth, money, and leverage is. I think the 4 hour model (give or take a little time of course) is something that has to be worked up to in a sense. Finding those clients can take some time, and developing a tried and true strategy and system can take a little time as well, that being said, I don't know your abilities of course, so you may be able to grow faster than others! Keeping it as a side hustle for now, and slowly growing it from there is a tried and true way to go!

      Wilson Auto Detailing thanks for the reply Luke. I’d say after 2 years of practice and about a year of client work, my skills are above average. Coming from as hand on practical teaching subject has helped. I’ve just been commissioned to bring a 1969 Ford Mustang coupe back to its best ready for sale by the owner so I must be doing something right. I’ll post some instagrams shots when its done.

    When is the next online course?

  • @darianoleary6806
    @darianoleary6806 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    My question to you is: when a customer sends in photos of a vehicle that they want detailed, and it completely filthy and you don’t want to dive into it, what do you tell the customer? How do you say no without being rude?

    • @wilsonautodetailing
      @wilsonautodetailing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha great question, I think I would say something along these lines “Hey there customer, thank you so much for sending in the pictures. I know it’s difficult to get all of the important areas of the car in a single picture so these really help me! As I’m looking through them, it’s looking like the car is in need of some specific detailing and cleaning that unfortunately I really don’t provide. I don’t mean to disappoint you, but sometimes in the detailing world, certain vehicles are at a point where unless they are completely detailed out to the highest level, you might be disappointed with the results and ultimately paying the price you pay for the results you get. While I don’t want to turn people away, in my opinion, for your sake, your money would be better spent somewhere where they deal with this kind of condition on a regular basis. Does that make sense?”

  • @jonpagel9917
    @jonpagel9917 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Extremely helpful. What kind of price differential is a dirty detail to your maintenance. Ex
    75 maintenance charge vs (dirty detail price). How do you up charge is what I'm saying

    • @wilsonautodetailing
      @wilsonautodetailing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually charge closer to $100+ even for maintenance, and while it’s a difficult question to answer simply because it varies so much, I will generally not touch a really dirty interior for less than $65/hour

      It is the VX 5000 steam cleaner, they used to be available on amazon but I believe you can only get them now on their website, they are about $900
