This is step one . Thank you. I Subbed.
Gavin feldtman to be honest .. its tough . I usual charge 60 bucks for a basic clean up inside out from the 25 i used to charge . I feel like i over due it for a basic clean up but i would hate to give it to a customer and have them pick something up . I am getting more customers just by word of mouth .. but im usuing the money to buy more efficient tools

Heyyy, I’m fourteen. My name is Sebastian! I’m from Chicago and I’m moving to Arizona. I want to start a car detailing business. I’ve been watching so many guides on how to detail. I want to come into this industry with the right equipment, techniques, and knowledge. I love it when I see a super clean car, so it’s going to be satisfying to see a dirty car transform into a clean one that is practically eye candy. I’m thankful for the internet because I do not know anyone who details cars for a living. I was wondering if you could sent me a list of all the products I need to get started. I’m going to check out your channel for any tutorials that might be of use. Thanks a lot, much love from Chicago 💛😄
Hey I just started my business with mobile detailing and changing breaks. I find it so hard for me to stay firm with my price because I’m such a nice guy and Sometimes people like to take advantage of that by trying to talk me down in price because of their personal issues. Thanks for helping me figure out what to do or say in those situations. Keep up the great vids!!
You have a good logic. I also usually charge a set price based on the average amount of time it has taken me to do that type of vehicle in the past. From there I look at the vehicle and adjust price/time required to complete the job. Then like I said I over estimate a bit on the price/time that way when I get done earlier and it costs them less they feel like they got a good deal. What I have learned is that if a person is not willing to give u the money and time with their vehicle in order to do the job right then they either don't want a "detail" they just want a clean up which is not the same at all and most customers don't understand that. If someone really values your skills and wants the job done right then they won't have a problem letting u keep their vehicle for as long as it takes(within reason). If someone doesn't like the price or time that I quote them I politely suggest that they go to a detail (shop) with multiple people working on each vehicle and pay double what I charge. Have a nice day! Lol
great info! I wasnt sure where to start with prices because Im new and didnt want to charge like the pros do around here. Now at least I understand the logic behind the pricing for me plus I dont want to undercut to much. love the video thanks a bunch.
Excellent video. Couple of weeks ago i decided to get trained on detailing fir myself, but i ended thinking on a second income. Your video answer some if my questions. Keep going.
Thanks Luke! Can you make a video on how you get the grease/product clean out of your tire dressing or protectant out from your applicator pads and towels. Also, I have compound dried up on my black DA Griot's Garage Pad that hasn't come out after 5 washes!
Do you have report the money u make every year on taxes an how does that work how much do you have to put aside also do you have to report earning even when starting off ?
great video luke, is possible to give a customer a list of your service prices and let them pick what they want done. example like headlights $20.00 tires & clean shine $15.00 leather & vinyl cleaning $25.00 black trim $ 40.00 hand wax $15.00 etc... what do you and your thoughts thanks luke keep them videos coming...
Absolutely! That's certainly a viable option, I would just be careful in that giving flat rates can be difficult because not all cars are equal in condition, so you may charge 20 dollars for a 30 minute job one place, and a 2 hour job another place, so I would make sure that there is a stipulation in that flat rates can increase with excessive dirt... great question!
Looking to start a detailing business in the future. What has been your best results on marketing/advertising? Also is it worth it to get certified through a school, will that allow me to charge more? Thanks
Very good information and I love the part where you say don’t let them bully you on your price but you also have to think about the wear and tear on your vehicle as well not just your tools. Also, you have to worry about taxes at the end of year to a lot of people forget about that you have taxes to pay on every dollar you make it’s just the way it is, so in all honesty yes, you have to charge a higher rate for the taxes and the wear and tear on your vehicle. You have to understand you have to put tires brakes oil changes maintenance on your vehicle gas in your tank to get back-and-forth to these peoples houses all that Has to be factored in not just your tools With me, I would do a wash and wax for $120 flat rate. If you want your interior done it’s an extra 80 bucks. so in total I believe that is 200. I believe if I have my math, correct I honestly think that is a honest price after you factor in tools wear and tear on your vehicle gas for your vehicle product prices are going up at an all-time high. Everything is going up the wax I used to buy honestly used to cost me 11 bucks now it cost me 15 and some change prices are at an all time high there’s nothing we can do and honestly down here in Florida where I’m at you will sweat your ass off it’s just the nature of the business never short change yourself, and just like this young man has said never let them bully you into lowering your price you know what you are. worth know your work for example my wife works for a transport company. She works in the office I went and talk to one of her bosses. Her boss had told me that she has a Detailing company that comes in and does all her vehicles for $80 a vehicle that’s everything wash wax clean the interior vacuum, she also mentioned that they also do her truck wash wax vacuum, clean the interior for $100. The company also owns a couple of transport buses. She didn’t tell me what they charge to do those but she says it’s pretty expensive. I looked at my wife and I looked at her and I said well they have me beat on the price because I definitely can’t charge you 80 bucks to do a whole vehicle interior and out I’m not working for free. She asked me do you carry your own water tank I said no I’d have to use your power and your water. She said well they use their own water and I believe they use their own power and that’s when I told her if I had that stuff, I would charge you way more than $200 that’s why I only want to charge you 200 for each vehicle but anyway I decided to move on because she was actually trying to beat me down from $80 what her other Detailing company does not worth it know your worth I am definitely not doing a whole car or a van for 80 bucks. It’s not enough money.
Mr. Wilson I changed $ 30 a hour I live in Tulsa Oklahoma prices are cheap but I been detailing over forty years and I will like to do it myself from wet sanding old school supplies compound to bring your vehicle's back to shine
Great video. I'm thinking of starting a mobile detailing business in my area so I'm searching for as much info as I can. I'm struggling with pricing and product. I can use all the help I can get.
Hey Luke great advice for any service. My l question is do you ozone generators for sanitizing or deodorizing? Your opinion on what size and what to charge as a single service?
Speaking of underpricing, I was legit just putting myself down or i had a genuine customer, but I spent 4hrs on a Mitsubishi ASX. This was my third car since branching into cleaning or detailing and originally I made a friends only FB post saying "I'll do cars for $40". When I asked this customer (parents of my friends) what I said or if there was a quote, they said $40 but they said it was way too cheap for the work done and I said okay... does ...$80 sound fair? Bloke pulled out aome cash and said "youll get this and thatll be the end of it" I saw a red and yellow thinking ah yeah $70 thats fair. Finished talking, went inside and saw there was $90 instead, so I'm genuinely happy with that. 90 for a touch up clean on a Mitsubishi ASX, especially as a new aspiring detailer was a great start. I reckon charging a flat rate of $120 for CX9/4BYS is fair, 150 is soiled and muddy or half a biscuit factory in the back seats
I have a price worksheet. And then vehicle sizes effect percentages. Coupes 80% sedans and small crossovers 100% trucks 120% and large suvs 140%. The percentage is put it for each individual 'result produced' idk if that makes sense
Hey could you answer this for me please I'm just starting off and I'm thinking of pricing and getting customer and I've seen a few video including your and some say too get your first customers go to friends, family or neighbours and give them a seriously big discount so that they'll give you a good review and share your info with other people well my question is how do you know they will tho?? Because you might do the service and give them the discount and then wot if they don't mention you too there friends or others or write a review??
I always time myself on my mom's big escalade. I'll do the highest detail I offer and time myself in every section. I can get done in about 8 hours on a medium soiled car. So I know I can probably shave an hour or 2 off a decent car and add an hour or 2 on a heavy soiled car
Hey Luke! When you offer an exterior wash, do you use a spray wax or liquid? I’m starting my business out and trying to figure out what to offer here in NY 😊
I do a "maintenance wash" which is just a thorough exterior wash including door jams and wheel wells, tire dressing (and sometimes a very quick vacuum and windows depending on the client). My "maintenance detail" is all the above plus a sealant application and a little more attention to the interior. Hopefully this helps!
I wish I could answer that David, but I just don't have any way that I could answer it, just because I don't know what that includes, or how long it takes, or any of the other variables, and there's just no way for me to give you an answer because it's just so subjective
Wilson Auto Detailing Interior include: Complete vacuum Wash and clean floor mats Carpet and seat shampoo Clean window Freshener/ odor elimination Dashboard, center consola and door panels. Spray fragrance
You need to put into factor that all vehicles are different some people might have kids, pets, go to the beach possibly, be using it for camping or work excetera and the car can take three times as long as a car that's only used for basic things like going down the street or just putting around town.
I don't know where you live at but people don't pay like that around here, but I do charge according to the condition and size of the vehicles... On average it takes me 3 hrs
make a google spread sheet with the date you bought it, how many/what types of cars you detailed, and the date that you ran out, then you can see how long it lasted, and how many cars you detailed with it, and what kind of cars they were
Even not knowing everything that a pro detailer knows I understand everything you just said and I charge a reasonable price that under cuts everyone else and the look I produced is a professional clean look I still give a reasonable price and I’m still able to gain profit but customer services is number one so with presenting a reasonable price to me that’s good customer service and then everything else falls into place I feel that if I was to go full time I would rake up but there are people like you said that are trying to get something great for nothing and I’ve had people hate on me for my prices because they know they are screwing people out of money that’s there problem
Interesting! It’s definitely a different approach than I take, it if it is working for you and your customers are happy than great job! Different customers want different things and different detailers want different things so there is certainly plenty of business for everyone if you ask me. Great job!
yes exactly, i get people tying to low ball me all the time..One customer told me what he wanted to pay..needless to say hes not my customer anymore..Thanks Luke :)
I am that 14 year old kid who is struggling to find business i charge 20 ill lower it to a minimum of 15 and some is always trying to bargain with me, so this video helped qlot thank you.
Am starting at this and charge 70 if the car is not that bad but definitely I will charge more if the car is really nasty.....am ok .Whit that price. Help me please
I've had that problem. There's been a 3 wave price change throughout the years. I'm where I need to be now in price and the new customer have no problem paying it. But some of the old customers are lost and it happens. I just keep it moving 👉💪🚘🚘🚘
I would think, after doing 6 to 12 cars, your own,do some relatives cars and different types of vehicles, sedans, coupes, mini vans, and pick ups, you'd get an idea how long it took and the other costs,so you could actually quote jobs.
What are the rules and how can I obtain a detailing business license and also what advice can you give the other detailers that want to get a business license
Hey man so a business license more or less varies with where you live. Not all states/counties have the same laws, so I would call the county clerk and ask how much a business license is depending on what kind of business you want to set up like an LLC, sole proprieter, etc...
So what I’m saying is just get the right tools and set prices where you feel your giving your customer a great deal and that you can feel good about after the job is done and replenish your supplies after it’s all said and done and repeat
Great video but 14 minutes and you never told us what you charge people. I would love a video of I charge $100 for the S 200 for this 300 for this. I have recently started doing detailing and I'm dying to know what other people charge
Wilson Auto Detailing I've got to say your prices shocked me. I live in upstate New York and pretty much charge double what you do. I do this on the weekends and I pretty much have a job both days every weekend but I want other ways to reach out to people because I can do it at night was wondering if you could help me Facebook has been very helpful
hahahaha understood! My prices are based on a clean car, in other words, those prices are a "bottm dollar price" or a "starting price" so that is simply a base line, add anywhere from about 50 to 100 dollars to those prices, and that is going to be the standard detail pricing job, but yes it is going to vary based on where you live and what your world looks like. And yes facebook is a great resource, what exactly are you needing help with?
Love the energy !!! It's awesome to see the next generation! Keep up the good work!

Luke what are you using to dry the cars
How do you calculate the cost of tools gas and supplies?
Awesome job.
Great video. I'm thinking of starting a mobile detailing business in my area so I'm searching for as much info as I can. I'm struggling with pricing and product. I can use all the help I can get.
Tim Newton that's so awesome Tim! Let me know if I can help!
Wilson Auto Detailing I'm sure you can lol. I'll watch some more of your videos and learn as much as I can.
Sounds great!!
Nice video man, thanks for the tips very helpful ☺☺
Hey Luke great advice for any service. My l question is do you ozone generators for sanitizing or deodorizing? Your opinion on what size and what to charge as a single service?
Nice pricing info! Figuring out pricing based on location and market is hard... but its nice to see your thoughts!
So hourly rate can be a little off.. Because of getting supplies together, mixing, set up, break down, washing things excetera excetera.
Hey Luke respect to you keep up good work and stay awesome
Found your channel researching names for my mobile set up. I live on Wilson st. Lol
Appreciate your videos! Please do a video on how to remove ink from a pen from a lite colored headliner. Thanks!
absolutely! I might put this question in a Q and A video!
Great video kid!
I'm ancient @ 51 years old&
detailing too
Did you do a live video this past Sunday?
I did not, I was actually on vacation so this sunday we will get back to normal! Thank you for asking!
I am startIng my small detail business. I am charging $85 for full interior 2dr & 4dr and $120 trucks suv vans. you think is too expensive?
btw awesome videos man. I like how you explain every single video.
I wish I could answer that David, but I just don't have any way that I could answer it, just because I don't know what that includes, or how long it takes, or any of the other variables, and there's just no way for me to give you an answer because it's just so subjective
Wilson Auto Detailing Interior include:
Complete vacuum
Wash and clean floor mats
Carpet and seat shampoo
Clean window
Freshener/ odor elimination
Dashboard, center consola and door panels.
Spray fragrance
Wilson Auto Detailing last time it take me 4 hours. all depends in the condition of car it was very dirty.
You need to put into factor that all vehicles are different some people might have kids, pets, go to the beach possibly, be using it for camping or work excetera and the car can take three times as long as a car that's only used for basic things like going down the street or just putting around town.
How Do you aproximatly charge for a full interior detailing on a car that is average dirty ? Like 3/4 hours jobs
$150-200
Thank you bro , keep up the good videos
I don't know where you live at but people don't pay like that around here, but I do charge according to the condition and size of the vehicles... On average it takes me 3 hrs
Chris Kerr for a 4.5 hour full detail I charge over 200 bucks
What is the best way to to determine cost of product/wear and tear to figure out how much your monthly expenses are for products?
make a google spread sheet with the date you bought it, how many/what types of cars you detailed, and the date that you ran out, then you can see how long it lasted, and how many cars you detailed with it, and what kind of cars they were
EXCELLENT video!
Great job!
Wilson Auto Detailing I’m learning from you guys man so thank you 💯💯💯💯💯 seriously you rock
yes exactly, i get people tying to low ball me all the time..One customer told me what he wanted to pay..needless to say hes not my customer anymore..Thanks Luke :)

love your youtube channel and detailing tips! I am also a detailer! What cameras do you use to record? Great footage
Thanks man! I use a Cannon 80D
Wilson Auto Detailing Awesome! I just purchased a cannon recorder to make videos as well, any advice you might have I'm a little camera shy haha
Great advice. You have a new subscriber.
Thanks my friend!
Awesome
Great info bro!
You should make a video about your strategy for juggling college and detailing
Great idea man! hahaha I love it
I would think, after doing 6 to 12 cars, your own,do some relatives cars and different types of vehicles, sedans, coupes, mini vans, and pick ups, you'd get an idea how long it took and the other costs,so you could actually quote jobs.
There ya go! Basic common sense most guys don’t want to follow
£ 60 qd a day working for a car dealer . From just wash/wax dry , wheels cils to mini /full vailts . From 2 up to 5 car /vans 4b4
You went to middle Tennessee
great video, very helpful
So glad Hugo!!! Let me know if I can help with anything specific in your world!

good stuff brofessor
What are the rules and how can I obtain a detailing business license and also what advice can you give the other detailers that want to get a business license
Hey man so a business license more or less varies with where you live. Not all states/counties have the same laws, so I would call the county clerk and ask how much a business license is depending on what kind of business you want to set up like an LLC, sole proprieter, etc...
So what I’m saying is just get the right tools and set prices where you feel your giving your customer a great deal and that you can feel good about after the job is done and replenish your supplies after it’s all said and done and repeat
Do you work in uk?
I usually over estimate based on the amount of time I know I can complete the job in....then if it takes less time to complete I adjust the price.
Yep that's definitely a good strategy, helps you over deliver at a level as well
You’re a born entrepreneur
Great video but 14 minutes and you never told us what you charge people. I would love a video of I charge $100 for the S 200 for this 300 for this. I have recently started doing detailing and I'm dying to know what other people charge
hahahaha just check out my website!!
Wilson Auto Detailing Will do thank you
Thanks for being involved my friend!
Great info kid ,
Great fucking video Luke. I’m gonna have to watch this a few more times to tattoo it in my brain
