This is great to see this video! I was one of two cinematographers to shoot this. I did all the "B" roll slice of life footage that wraps thru the video. Pliny Porter was the second unit director. I had no idea that Keifer Sutherland was directing until i was halfway thru the nite of shooting. Me and Pliny went with a 16mm camera and shot out of a van grabbing whatever was going on that nite around hollywood!. Was good times! Awesome tune! I'm proud to have been part of this one!

I just think our music of the 21st century would be so much better if Jude was a part of it. One of a kind and I sure miss his voice and musical talent at this time.
Good point, could be timing -- I just recently found out about Jude, but what I've heard is outstanding, but as many have already stated generally good music doesn't seem to get much air play these days. Even a group like Eagles, which is easily considered one of the best contemporary rock bands ever, would they even get radio play these days on a new release? Sure they still sell out stadiums and get plenty of internet play, but that's all base on what they pretty much accomplished in the past, when they did get air play.

Jude Cole is one of the most underrated artists from that time. Wonder how things might have been different for him (& Van Halen w/Sammy Hagar) if Ed Leffler had not died. Jude Cole. Truly one of the most underrated singers of all time. Also one of the best singing voices I've ever heard. I bet the UK and Europe would have truly appreciated his singing talent! I'm very surprised his songs didn't rank higher here in the U.S.
Jude…I listened as I drove around when I felt depressed. His songs made me feel better. Still have his CD and he was so underrated. Which sucks because he was an awesome singer and songwriter .
Underrated classic. There was a lot of pre grunge, post mid 80s rock pop that sprung up around this time (sweet spot is like 87-92). A lot of them had this areggiated guitar which carried the melody, along with that loud whip snare with some reverb. The quintessential of that being John waites Missing You. I think this is the best version of that. Cole also has a song called “Walls that Bend” which 80s pop revivalists would drool over, deserves a lot more attention…there are a couple other artists who pulled off this type of song but it’s incredibly difficult. Benjamin Orr’s solo record is another great example…
I owned the cassette tape back in the 90's. Brings back so many memories back when life was bohemian and I cared more about great music than paying bills.

So, it's been 33 years now (released in 1990, it's now 2023), and 'A View From 3rd St' is still number 6 on my list of ALL-TIME most favorite albums. And I have one qualifier which has kept a LOT of albums OFF of my all-time most favorite albums... there can't be even one "dud" track. I should be able to listen to the entire album without needing to skip even a single track. And Jude fulfilled that requirement with "3rd St." This album is a masterpiece of writing, playing, and singing. And it sounds as fresh as it did in 1990. Jude is truly a gifted songwriter/musician. Thanks for this timeless album, Jude!

Every time I listen to this song, it's bittersweet. The lyrics are so powerful. My head becomes flooded with so many fond memories... yet reality fills my heart with sadness. I've lived long enough to know what is real and what isn't. Even though I try to let go, I know deep down that my heart never will... because the love that I feel stays strong, just like the song says. My sister was sent this album by a pen pal way back in 1990 or 1991. We had heard "Baby, It's Tonight" and gave the rest of the album a listen. What a gem! I used to listen to it on my Walkman in between classes at San Jose State University. To this day it is one of my favorite albums of all time. I never tire of listening to it & I have cried many times too. It's a masterpiece.
hot 100 peak at #32 for the week of october 13, 1990...for me, it's a good thing this wasn't a relative hit to have been played to death on the radio...so when i do hear this, it has that deeply proustian effect on me...so achingly resonant that i wistfully yearn to relive those days from late 1990..i could never let go of the memories of my youth...
This guy was a sensational artist back in the early 90's. I remember I bought the CD A View From 3rd Street when it first came out and couldn't stop listening to it. What happened to him? He had all the makings of a star and he is so much better than all the garbage of today. Keep on Rockin' Jude!
Jude had a couple more albums after this they were pretty good if you like his music. In the early 2000s he went on to produce the band called Lifehouse which were fairly successful.
We all experience a “time for letting go” in life…..for me, it’s the end of my nine year marriage and it’s just about destroyed me……yet I’ll always love and care about her! So, Cheri, I listen to this awesome song and think what might have been….
This song was a staple on my Armed Forces radio shows, and Cole is the most underrated talent in music today as the background for Lifehouse. No one here has mentioned his work with Moon Martin, either. Jude is the real deal, and I'll always be one of his bigest fans. BTW, the album "A View From 3rd Street" is perfect!
How in the hell was Jude Cole not a superstar? Beautiful songwriting, exquisite musicianship, and total soul!!! I so miss this kind of honesty in music!
This was one of those songs reminiscent of Richard Marx's "Right Here Waiting", that you're hearing faintly from someone's car radio as you were just waking up from a nap on a hot, late afternoon's summer's day in the late 80s, early 90s. I was going through a love-hate relationship with a girl when this song became popular during the Gulf War. Back then we didn't know if we were truly in love, as there was jealousy and suspected other people in the relationship. We break up, we get back together then broke up again for good when she ended her stint in the Air Force and went back home to MI. Never had a chance to say goodbye and never saw her again. Time For Letting Go indeed...i keep telling myself over and over...
Jude's songs age very well. Still great. Some real gems in his collection, and a pity he didn't achieve the status he should have as a performer. Right There Now, Open Road, just about the entire Start the Car and View CDs. The Falling Home CD is also awesome, and no record company supported it. I guess he's happy being a producer rather than a performer. Wish him all the best...
One of the most underrated AOR performers in history! And really a nice guy!! This song brings back a flood of memories for me....thanx Jude for these memories!!!

Easy answer. This doesn’t sell. Record execs find it easier to peddle crap to the youth, then actual good music
Because they hate talent
Because "music" nowadays... just isn't.
It's rhythmic noise with some crappy words thrown in.

LA MEJOR MUSICA DE LA HISTORIA, CON ESTAS BANDAS BAILABAMOS !
Lyrics
.
I've been holding back words
And waiting for time
Cause there's a lesson here somewhere
I know it's mine
And though I'll remember the promise we made
Promises don't justify feeling this way anymore
It's time for letting go
We can't hide what we both know
But ooh, the hurt grows
Every time I think it's over
You've been keeping all your secrets inside
I know the truth now baby
You don't have to hide, no no no
But my mind wanders to the very first day
What a shame things had to turn out this way
Oh, it's time for letting go
We can't hide what we both know
But ooh, the hurt grows
Every time I think it's over
No words could bring back your affection
And no lies could keep me holding on
And holding on and holding on, yeah
And now I know it's time for letting go
We can't hide what we both know
But ooh, the hurt grows
Every time I think it's over
It's time to realize
That we're both just living lies
And way down deep inside
The time is telling me it's time for letting go
Let it go
I keep telling myself over and over
Let it go
But my love's still strong
I just can't keep holding on
And holding on and holding on
I know, oh I know

This guy was VERY talented and had a golden voice. It's a shame we don't have artists today that have half the talent of this performer..............
Outstanding tune! Dig the music. Jude played with The Records. Props given.
Это Красиво, Сильно!Класс! Благодарю!
I can't believe it! Love him ! He had that slant on notes like John Waite! 3:53
Never made that (spot on) comparison
Absolutely amazing ❤❤
We all experience a “time for letting go” in life…..for me, it’s the end of my nine year marriage and it’s just about destroyed me……yet I’ll always love and care about her! So, Cheri, I listen to this awesome song and think what might have been….
Grossly underrated.....lost golden genre....wow
Excelente tema musical del genero pop rock de los 80 sin lugar a dudas la década de oro de la música internacional ❤😊
Realmente un temazo!!!jude,un musico excepcional!!!!!
First heard of him in the early 90’s and I’m still listening to him in 2020 .....am I’m never letting go.
No more pain although I Will Always Love You 🥰
One of the greatest underrated tunes ever
Mr. Jude Cole, wherever you are, thank you, thank you, thank you for this wonderful, incredible song.
How in the hell was Jude Cole not a superstar? Beautiful songwriting, exquisite musicianship, and total soul!!! I so miss this kind of honesty in music!
He should have been the one to make it big rather than Richard Marx...
Can't figure out why Jude Cole didn't become more popular!!! Great voice and songwriter. Baffling!! Anyway, great song!!
What a song.. what a song!! and what awesome voice and the lyrics too..... Take a bow JUDE COLE...Main to phida ho gaya yaar!!!
Who first listened in Fall 1990?
Jude Cole...so glad i rediscovered him...this song is everything
Aayyy Dios no puedo creer !!Paul cantando Seminare!!!que sorpresas maravillosas nos da el arte,la MUSICA!!!!😃😆😍😍😍❤❤❤BRAVOOOOO
i Will love this song forever ♡
Jude's songs age very well. Still great. Some real gems in his collection, and a pity he didn't achieve the status he should have as a performer. Right There Now, Open Road, just about the entire Start the Car and View CDs. The Falling Home CD is also awesome, and no record company supported it. I guess he's happy being a producer rather than a performer. Wish him all the best...
One of the most underrated AOR performers in history! And really a nice guy!! This song brings back a flood of memories for me....thanx Jude for these memories!!!
This song is timeless! ❤❤❤
What an incredibly talented artist. Jude Cole not only wrote songs for himself but he co-wrote songs with Jason Wade from lifehouse.
La escucho hoy en CHILE , 5 DE JUNIO DE 2024....👍🇨🇱🇨🇱
Somos 2
Beatiful music Very good
“No words can bring back your affection. No lies can keep me holding on”. Outstanding!
better off living apart
Simply one of the best breakup songs of all time and simply one of the best songs of the 1990s. This should have been No. 1 worldwide.
Una canzone limpida. Non riesco stancarmi a sentirla 😊😊
Time For Letting Go says it all. Not only to let go of the bad relationships but also the anger, hate anad the hurts of the past.THANK YOU JUDE COLE!!!!! Love your music.
