I was the editor of this video. Haven't seen it for years. The original was in the old 4:3 ratio, but even though enlarging it to 16:9 makes it look a bit softer, it still looks pretty good. I loved editing it and I still love the song 35 years later.

The music of the 80,S will always remain nostalgic, listening to it takes me back down memory lane to those good old days, it was school, books(Enid Blyton The Far Away Tree, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Bopsey Twins), ink pens, sport, cycling, climbing trees, building home made dumbbells' for the home gym constructing mud bunkers lol in the back yard after having watched the movie THE GREAT ESCAPE, trying to find the secret to human flight ,ANTGRAVITY ,levitation, trying to make contact with Extra terrestrial beings using the old broken pocket radio , trying to learn HAM, watching those woofers pound to the base generated by those solid state stand alone amps,,, every moment was filled with a meaning and purpose, today at 49 as i listen to these golden oldies i wish i could turn back the clock, those were the days my friend , i am happy to have lived them to the fullest, iam sure many out here have done too, cheers and good luck

Never heard of them before but I liked the song so much that I bought the CD. 35 years later I still have it. This song is one of the top 10 songs of the 80s !

When I'm lost in a strange place
    Scared and alone
    When I'm wishing for home
That's when I think of you
When the load gets too heavy
    Too much to bear
When I'm going nowhere and there's no-one there
And I'm feeling like a fool
That's when I think of you
It's all that I can do
I'd go mad if it wasn't for you
When I'm caught in the crossfire
    Of wrongs making right
When I wake in the night
That's when I think of you
    When I'm halfway to heaven
    And three parts in hell
When it's all just as well and I can't even tell
    I'm lost without a clue
That's when I think of you
It's all that I can do
I'd go mad if it wasn't for you
If not for the thought of you
The promise of dreams come true
I'd go mad if it wasn't for you
    When I'm lonely for loving
    So far from home
When it feels like I'm in the Twilight Zone
And I just can't make it through
That's when I think of you
It's all that I can do
I'd go mad if it wasn't for you
If not for the thought of you
The promise of dreams come true
I'd go mad if it wasn't for you
Oh I'm always thinking of you
It's all that I can do
I'm going mad not being with you

The promise of dreams come true
I'd go mad not being with you

No actually you are out of your f###cking mind. YOU chose to make this about the bible. If you do your research this song has NOTHING to do with the bible. It's. A standard 80s pop song about a guy missing a girl YOU chose to bring your beliefs here which they don't belong. I bet I don't see you commenting on a nine inch nails song or a pantera song or a sepultura song about how great the bible is. I don't need a lecture from you about the bible. I have read the bible, the apocrypha the Koran, the gnostic gospels, the Vedas, the kaballah, the book of mormon and the works of St Augustine and 12 years of catholic school and studying with the Gideons, Seventh day Adventists and Jehovah witnesses So don't you dare talk to me about religion!!!!!
So you just listen to pop songs that are in common time 4/4 and in the major keys that have a nice melodic sound and all off a sudden you think God is responsible?. Let me guess you hear heavy metal or rap and you think it's the work of the devil because there's swearing and it's in a minor key so it sounds angry and sad????
OH NO ITS THE WORK OF THE DEVIL. You are a baboon all you had to say was "Yeah I agree this is a good song it should have gone No.1."
BUT NO!!!! You instead show me Ecc 9 4-12, which has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SONG!!!! It talks about living in the moment and not to expect everything going to plan in life.
These are more appropriate bible verses about love between a man and a woman
Ph 1:3, Ro 13:8, Song of Solomon (the whole book).
I could go on and on so please take your misguided arrogant and unwanted speech and F##$ off.

I love that from 2:58 its obviously a special long shot where they have filled the studio with smoke and have him on a raised scaffold or something. Poor Eric is almost choking/vomiting on the smoke but has to compose himself and get through the song...also a funny little "wtf was that" look at the end. Love this song + one of the best guitar solos ever!

I love this song so much, its simple 4/4 drumming, just perfect.
Memories of my grocery store crush where this song would play over the PA.
    Thank you 1927.

Eric had the most beautiful voice,I still remember when he was "discovered" on red faces(-Hey hey its Saturday)
Such a shame his battles with mental health kept him away from music for so long
    Absolutely beautiful voice

One of the classic great 80's songs I grew up hearing as a kid. Takes me back to simpler times. But being older now you understand the lyrics so much more. Great song.

Just saw 1927 last Friday night, brought back great memories of the 80's & 90's, the best era ever to grow up & listen to music.
