Amen, brother! And as everyday gets further from that time, I realize only we can truly say, we lived a life like non before. Or will again. It was the music!!!
One of the best songs in the 80s. No doubt. I was 16 back then. Time flies. 51 now. Here's wishing everyone the best of health, peace & happiness always... ❤️ from 🇸🇬
What were they like? They seemed lovely. She is gorgeous - she looks like Cindy Crawford here but with more spontaneity. I looked them up and today she is still very beautiful and he looks great too. Divorced but good friends still
Summer, 2024 Born in 83, I've listened to this song since I was a kid riding in the car with my mom. Always loved it. Two months ago, it came on my Playlist as we were driving for vacation, and I skipped thinking none of the family wanted to hear it. My three year old threw a fit, so I put it back on, and she danced and jammed out with her daddy, and that is hands down my favorite memory from that vacation. Same kiddo used to love for me to hold her and sing Toto's "I'll be over you" when she was a couple months old. She's one from my own heart, and this is now our song. Love the 80s.
My mother and father danced to this song every night in my youth. They passed away a day apart from each other. They left me alone, but I listen to this song and I feel them close to me again
I use to dance to this with my x and its a long story won’t get into that but we remained friends becuz his two children and my two children became siblings even if they were not blood related. It’s 42 years later and my x has terminal cancer and I thank God for keeping us as family. The four kids can lean on each other! This song I play everyday just for good memories!
You're not alone. They taught you to love, so that when the day did come they departed this earth, you would never be alone. As long as you love someone, you are never alone.
1988, on vacation in Florida. This song was on every station in South Florida. I'd hear it twenty or thirty times a day and never got tired of hearing it. That holds true to this day.
Here it is April 20, 2024 - woke up this morning and this song started playing in my head. Wow I haven’t heard it in years but I know it was there and “sent” to me for a reason. Magic ❤ Beautiful uplifting song and video😊 Thank you 🙏 Think I’ll play it one more time 😉
As a younger GenXer, I was glad that as a teenager I had this great music. There’s a sweetness and optimism to it that’s been totally lost. The 80’s had the best music!
Why can't life be as good as this video is... It's like an explosion of pure joy. The 80s had a lot more joy in them... And I know I'm not the only person who feels that way... Miss ya, 80s. mwah!
+Josh Popichak He is right. When you hear this song it takes you back to your younger years and makes you remember the times when you had little to no stress and no worries as a child or young teenager. it allows you to live those days all over again and calms you down and puts you in a good mood. I'm sure the young kids now will think that of current songs as they get older.
+Josh Popichak You can make your life anything you want it, you just can't make it "80's good" If I could live a time over it would be the stretch from 1984-1989. Even people in their 50's would say that was a good time, an easier time. And music like this shows it. #timeless
+Stephen Conley SO TRUE, AND THE SAD REALITY OF IT ALL MANY KIDS TODAY CONCUR WITH THAT STATEMENT. MODERN TIMES SUCK, I WISH THAT WASNT THE CASE BUT IT IS
No way a dont want go back its only now a realise how good things were thanks for the memories its music like this that gives us a wake up call am 64 still got 40 years in me and its nice telling my girls how good things were in the 80s
I agree! I never realized that so many people feel like I do until reading all of these wonderful comments! It makes me happy but also sad that I can't go back in time to the 80's.
This was also my wife and I song. We played it at our wedding unfortunately we also played it at her funeral in February. I refuse to let it make me sad. All I see when I hear this is the beautiful face of my wife.
It makes me sad that my children didn't have the same magical childhood I did growing up in the 80's. Amazing music, playing outside with my friends all day, riding bikes all over the neighborhood, drinking water from the hose, Atari, break dancing on the corner, lol. The world was more innocent and much brighter than today.
Couldn't agree more... listening now, in 2019.. missing the 80's days...waiting for my husband to come home after driving a semi, with the impeding storms here in Ohio... CHERISH the memories, AND the music, for sure.
I'd be honored if some 80s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of 80s classic songs on my YT channel. Covers include Sting, Prince, George Michael, Phil Collins, Tom Petty, Kenny Loggins, Billy Joel, Earth Wind & Fire, plus a couple of '010s classics from Bruno Mars and Coldplay. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and peace.
this song takes me back in time to the 80's.......a different life, a different world......I was blessed to be born in 1969 and grew up listening good music in the 70;s and 80's I was a young boy.......now 55 in 2024 and going back in time thru my laptop and internet, it is my time machine ............thank God for letting me live the best years of my life with this kind of music that today brings me back sadness to listen to..........because this is only memories now of a time that has gone forever.
The interesting thing is we still had the threat of nuclear war, but it's like everyone could see the end of the cold war in sight and were ready to celebrate!
Actually thee best decade of music was the 1970s. More categories than ever! True new raw talent at it's finest. Real musicians and Real Singers. No computerized drum programming, no voice machines. The 1980s was the last decade of real music for the most part.
this is one of those songs that captured the American pop of the 80s .... dreamy, excellently produced , performed and wrote .... 3 minutes songs that last forever
My husband died and this was our song when I miss him I go outside at night and listen to it while gazing at the stars and it makes me feel closer to him and one time I even seen a falling star ✨️🌟 ✨️
When you feel the breeze at your temple...know that it is his kiss. May it comfort you to know he is still there...and still in love with you. Until you and he are reunited, never to be separated again. Hold on, hold out, you are not now nor ever without him.
Absolutely agree! You could have FUN dressing up & going out. Girls & guys BOTH. Great range of music to pick....mostly UPBEAT & FUN....and people were still NICE. Everything went down hill from the 80's. Sad.

This marvelous love song throws me back to the even much more marvelous eighties when (1988, when this song was released) I was 22 years old and when I was very deeply in love with my girlfriend witch I am still with fortunately. 'Those were the days my friend🤷🏻♂️'; I will néver forget the incredible, maybe the best music decade ever (way too much to mention), eighties. Whát a great time then; perhaps the best days of my life and I miss it too...
Neither will I, I song it to my girlfriend and she said to me wish i was pretty as Shannon. That brought tears to my eyes I told her she was pretty and she smiled after I told her that. I love her with all my heart
So many memories of the 80s whenever I hear this song: high school, cutting classes with besties, bubblegum, heartbreak of a crush, winning and losing at sports, the clunky Sony Walkman & a shelf full of casette tapes, and above all, the feelings of being immortal and pleasantly stuck in an endless summer party. The subsequent decades just don't quite match up.
I was 20 when this song came out. Back then I thought it was pretty good, but now I'm 55 and both the song and video bring tears to my eyes. They exude such positivity and really make me miss the 80s.
I was born in 83. It amazes me how 80s music is full of such unbridled optimism. They were positive the future was gonna be awesome. Not sure when it started but nihilism has firmly taken hold sometime since then.
Yeah I'm astonish. I heard all this music back in the 80s. Of course it though it was good. But now I feel there's such a positive and innocent feeling too them. Boy has the world become a cold place without us noticing it. We are screwed 😭
Waiting for the 80's come 'round again, will be touchin' heaven when it does, great horns, very classic 80's cut. Nothing better like a summer rain...cleansing of the soul.
There are still some of us teaching these young kids to love the 80’s well the music. We’re in our 40s but our 9 year old pulls up 80’s playlists and jams out with our cat 🐈

I think this song is more childish than others. I liked it when I was 10 too, in 2008 i'm afraid to say. You were born at a good time to enjoy this song.
Yes, the West was a paradise on earth, but now it's in the past!!! Did you laugh at Russia???? Well, now you have all fallen into poverty as one, and it will only get worse in the West!!!

@Momentum Rules You bet!! In fact, since I had the misfortune of being a teenager in the 2010s--when mainstream music is almost nothing but autotune and machine noises and not using real instruments--I listen heavily to 1980s music as most of it has a unique "magical" and "stereotypical Disney" (this song is especially very Disney-esque) especially feel to it, with its potent synthesizers (like Van Halen's "Jump" and Laura Branigan's "Gloria", the latter of which I especially like the "explosive" synthesizer jabs), blazing distorted electric guitar (like in every 1980s hair metal song), and driving beats! (You can say that I am one of those youth in a generation that tends to indulge in and favor the decade 2-3 decades before the current one, as how there were youths who were a fan of the 1950s-1960s, back in the 1980s; just like there are youths who like 1980s today) Though I am glad that there are many artists today that are channeling the 1980s in their own music...In fact, a singer named Eddie Vantez released an album this week, of songs that sound like they came straight from Bon Jovi, RATT, Whitesnake, Journey, etc., only difference is that they were released this week! You should listen to Eddie Vantez!!

I believe it was intended for Belinda Carlisle. You can find her version on TH-cam. She wasn’t a fan of the song so she half assed it. It’s apparent in her version. The writers recorded it themselves & made magic.

Born in 83, I've listened to this song since I was a kid riding in the car with my mom.
That's a very special Child who has been Blessed with a VERY special Mother ❤
Was my best decade ever. 80's always. Thank-you Amy!
i miss the 80's so much
My mother and father danced to this song every night in my youth. They passed away a day apart from each other. They left me alone, but I listen to this song and I feel them close to me again
That is terribly sad, but also kind of romantic. They just couldn’t live without each other.
that is sooooooooooooo sad!!!!! but I'm so glad that they are together watching over you.
That I have loved but alone for a very long time now but I’d be good!
1988, on vacation in Florida. This song was on every station in South Florida. I'd hear it twenty or thirty times a day and never got tired of hearing it. That holds true to this day.
And the exact same humans are still in Florida.
I was in south Florida in 1988, coral gables. Went every summer. This song was indeed on every station!

When you hear this song it takes you back to your younger years and makes you remember the times when you had little to no stress and no worries as a child or young teenager. it allows you to live those days all over again and calms you down and puts you in a good mood.

What a great ballad. 80s were the best times to be young and alive.
Totally agree! 💯
(You can say that I am one of those youth in a generation that tends to indulge in and favor the decade 2-3 decades before the current one, as how there were youths who were a fan of the 1950s-1960s, back in the 1980s; just like there are youths who like 1980s today)
Though I am glad that there are many artists today that are channeling the 1980s in their own music...In fact, a singer named Eddie Vantez released an album this week, of songs that sound like they came straight from Bon Jovi, RATT, Whitesnake, Journey, etc., only difference is that they were released this week! You should listen to Eddie Vantez!!
It's not really a ballad. Just a clean and pure 80's pop song.

I believe it was intended for Belinda Carlisle. You can find her version on TH-cam. She wasn’t a fan of the song so she half assed it. It’s apparent in her version. The writers recorded it themselves & made magic.
