      I just sold my 2015 3.5l Eco extra cab with 32k miles on it for $2k less than I paid for it. Wonderful truck no issues; i just wanted a F350.

    Seeing all of that open space out in the hot desert makes me realize how different ownership needs are from one person to the next. I live in a large, dense, cold, northern city with a garage that is pretty tight. Ford has to make a truck for every person’s needs. I’m looking at the new Maverick as a good city truck. For anyone saying trucks are too big, do you think this guy feels they are too big? For anyone saying it’s not a truck without a 4x4, do you think this guy needs a 4x4? We all have different needs from a truck and the big three manufacturers try and make one truck to fit them all.

      YES! Well said. Love that you are considering a Maverick! I am doing the same, but I live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and have lots of land and space to roam and go off-road in. I have a full-size F150 for the playground, hahaha, but want a nicer driving much smaller daily driver utility pickup. The Maverick may be the key!! Hoping the prices are not as painful as the Bronco Sport though as I will only buy the 2.0 Ecoboost AWD model. I expect to pay more for it of course, but this package in the Bronco Sport starts around $42,000 Canadian,,,,,,,,,, I’ll buy a Ranger for that price and sacrifice some comfort the sport is going to offer, especially getting in and out.

      For the longest time, most half ton trucks on the road were 2wd (even in northern/snow states). While I like having 4wd if I have to get down an unplowed road, I actually rarely use it.

      @@cnoyes72 - I really enjoy 4wd and the only 2wd I have is a 67 C10 short box, but that’s a weekend toy or show and shine vehicle. I don’t use it a lot. You are right about using 4wd, especially if you don’t go playing off-road or need it for work. My dad used to say you don’t need it because if you get stuck with it, you are really stuck and likely to break the truck getting it out!! He had a point, hahaha. As a kid with a 4wd I had a tendency to walk a lot. Walk, get the tractor to pull the truck out, drive the tractor home, ride the motorcycle to get the truck, load the bike and drive home,,,,,, whewwwww. A lot of work! Hahaha.

      @@cnoyes72 yeah I live in the mountains in Canada and when I was growing up all we had was 2wd pickups. It wasn’t til the mid 2000s that it seems like everyone switched over. That being said I’d never go back haha.

    Us old guys love our lil 2.7’s, calm and quiet when we’re just driving along checking out the scenery and fast when you need to ball the jack, old coal miner saying, some upty 35 year old pulls beside you in a 5.3 GM, 5.7 Toyota or Hemi, it our duty to knock em down a peg or two, not that us old guys would do that🤨

    I previously owned 3 F-150's, 2 X V8 302, 1 Inline 6 300 and an F-350 with a 460. I now have a 2018 2.7l XTR Sport Super Crew that always has a generator, tool boxes and miscellaneous stuff under a tonneau cover . Yesterday I was on a toll highway here in Ontario Canada travelling at 120 km/h to start and my consumption kept climbing from 9.9l/100km to 11.1. In the U.S, that's 21.2 MPG or 25.5 imperial MPG here. Dropping my speed 10 km/h I was able to reduce to 9.7l/100km or 24.4 MPG U.S. or 29.1 MPG imperial. Pulling my 16' bowrider I don't even notice it until I have to pull in to a gas station or park. Love my 2.7l ecoboost!!

    I had a large ranch up until I sold out to retire in 2019. Had a tire shop as well, but it’s not relevant to this comment. I had a lot of 5.0 trucks over the years. The last 4 trucks I bought were in late 2018 and all of them were F150s. 1 with the 5.0 (mine) and the other 3 with the 2.7 EcoBoost. I wanted all 5 litres buy they weren’t available. All 4 trucks were XLT SuperCabs with the FX4 package. I still had a couple of 2017 5.0s as well at the time.
    Well,,,,, I was amazed by the 2.7 and since all of the work was done off-road the speeds were 80 kph or 50 mph or less generally. The 2.7s outperformed all of the 5.0 trucks!! The torque curve starts down at 1200 RPM with 70% of the 400 lb ft available then and almost all the way to red line. They work very hard! At the end of the day we don’t check mileage because the driving conditions varied so much, but the 2.7 trucks took less fuel (10 - 15%) than the 5.0 trucks. They saw similar if not more use because they were the “new” trucks. They were sold with the Ranch and I still stay in touch with the new owners. The trucks perform excellent, he has replace the 2017s with 2 x 3.5 EcoBoost trucks. He said they are a bit harder on fuel than the 5.0 trucks, but the 2.7s are still the best of the 3 motors for fuel economy. The 3.5 is the best performing motor, naturally.
    The 2.7 is no joke and there is a reason it is now outselling the 5.0 and the 3.5, lots of bang for your buck!! Here in Canada it is standard when you get to the Lariat and for the XLT or lower, it’s only $900 as a very cheap option. The other 2 motors are over $3500 CAD!!
    Of note, the new owner was a Ram buyer and he had a Tradesman 5.7 Hemi. The 2.7 outperformed that as well on the Ranch. The Hemi is the most thirsty motor, but he will only have Ram Cummins HD trucks and is switched to Ford for all his 1/2 tons. He had a few issues with that last Ram 1500 as well apparently.

      @@CJColvin - That’s a nice C-10, but it’s Jay Leno’s. Mine is just very stock looking with factory suspension and rally wheels with BFG TAs. I may go this route in the future, but currently it looks like it just came off the showroom floor with RamJet fuel injected 350, 4 speed automatic and 4 wheel Wilwood disc brakes,,,, hahaha. Clean and well done, but not very exciting. I am actually hoping to find another truck that’s a better candidate for dropping down like this and that hopefully already has a natural patina look. Getting d*mn hard to find though as the patina look is very popular as Mr. Leno has shown,,,,, heh heh. If I ever see him, I’ll pass the compliment on!!! Haha.

      Interesting life and comment. Good to learn from you about the different trucks from real world work and not just internet keyboard warriors. This helped me make up my mind and not be afraid to buy a 2.7 L

      Your assessment of the 2.7 is spot on. I have a’19 with a 2.7 with 3:55 gears like most are equipped. A coworker of mine has 3:73 gears and it wakes up the potential of the 2.7 even more. Really changed my biases of V-8 no turbo only mentality. Thinking my next will be a PowerBoost and that only comes in a 3.5 eco boost. I think I can get used to it.

    My dad has a 2018 2.7 4x4 with 102k miles that he got brand new and it hasn’t been to a shop yet (except for oil changes every 6k miles and transmission fluid changed around 60k) and he uses it everyday as his farm truck. He hasn’t reset his trip meter in around 20k and he’s averaged 19.9mpg in combined city/hwy

    The best part of the Ford line up is they have the truck you need..not every guy wants/needs a 7.3 4x4 Platinum or Lariat....This guy got the truck he wanted/needed and no more, no less. Meeting the customer where they are is how the F150 stays where it does compared to the other light duty pick ups in it's class.

    I just bought a 2021 f150 with the 2.7 and I absolutely love my truck. The 2.7 and the ten speed feel awesome together. I can't wait to tow my boat with it once the ice melts.

      I have a 2018 STX supercrew 4x4. Mine also has the 2.7L and I love my truck too. I traded out of a 2006 XLT extended cab 2wd with the 5.4L triton. I drove that truck until late this past January. The difference is like night and day.

    I have a ‘15 2x4 with the 2.7. 78k miles just regular maintenance- ZERO problems. I get 21 mpg combined between hwy, city and farm use. Pulls a trailer loaded with tractor and implements with no problems. Very pleased with my truck.

      They hold up well. That heat in Phoenix can really strain turbo charged engines but the Ford's seem to do well

    I have a 2015 F150 XLT with the 2.7, has 141k miles on it, never an issue out of it. Just did regular maintenance on it. Bought a second truck, a 2020 F150 Lariat with the 5.0 and only had it for 4 months because it had a lot of issues with the SYNC system, just traded it in for a 2021 F150 Platinum with the 5.0, couldn’t be happier with my decision. Still have the 2.7 for fun on the weekends.

      @@9-seven Not a fanboy of any make I just happen to own a Ford. The other two makes in my driveway are Hyundai brands. Have heard the same of GM. Ram I don’t know. Rust is a fanboy of that brand from what I seen. Axle rust or body rust? Honestly My experience is vehicles in general. Haven’t crawled under any lately.

      C'mon people honestly the rust thing is getting ridiculous. I'm a technician have been for 20+ years and everything people are pointing out and crying about will NEVER fail due too rust. Differentials, driveshafts, tie rod ends are always covered in surface rust and thats on any damn car. I work at a subaru dealer currently and I can show you brand new 2021 subies that have "rust" on some components

      My 2012 with the 3.5 has 125k as well. Changed the plugs yesterday and it runs like new. No problems with the motor whatsoever. Can't imagine how that motor would feel with 700 lbs lighter truck than mine and with the 10 speed instead of the 6....which has also been solid.

We’re in 2021 and there are lots of ways to increase horsepower and torque over add pistons and liters... more pollution, more gasoline per mileage... there are lots of disadvantages having a bigger engine. Today u can have the same power and torque of a 5.0 V8 with a smaller, less gas per mileage and less polluting engine! So why not!

      I agree with you statements but to each his own 🤷 I don't like tho sound the 2.7 makes. I love tuning my 5.0 plenty of power and reliable. A 10 speed transmission paired with with a 5.0 is like magic ✨.

    I also live in Arizona I have a 2013 5.0 with 266,000 miles driving all over the country I absolutely love this truck and engine don't think I will be switching to an ecoboost anytime soon

    I have a company 2020 Ford truck with the V8. It replaced a 2017 F-150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. I’m a salesman of commercial and industrial cleaning equipment. I put 148,000 trouble free miles on it. The V8 2020 truck I have now is averaging 4-5 mpg less than the 2017. If I were to be purchasing an F-150 for myself, I’d buy one with the 2.7 or 3.5 Ecoboost engine. My job has me traveling 13 states in the NE. I’ve had several trips in the 2017 with the 3.5 Ecoboost that averaged over 27 mpg. On these trips I stayed in the right lane and averaged about 5 over the speed limit. For the life of the truck I averaged a little over 22 mpg. My current truck with the V8 has averaged 19.4 mpg through 30,000 miles.

    Just went over 200,000 miles on my 2016 with a 2.7L 4x4. Only thing to fail was the battery at 190,000 miles. Have been through tires, brakes, do all fluid changes myself at required times except for transmission, it is original (I know, should be changed at 50k) but there is also the worry of changing later causes transmission to fail. Mine hasn't. I tow a 6000 lb boat fairly regularly, drive daily, and tour the country boondocking. I don't go crazy offroad, 4x4 is for wet grass, snow, trails, and pulling the boat out of a snotty ramp at low tide. It has stood the test of time. I love this truck and if the time comes, will rebuild the engine due to the price of new pickups.

    I currently have a 2019 RAM Rebel 5.7L, love the truck and the Hemi sound. But before, I had a 2015 F150 2.7L Ecoboost, and honestly that truck was faster in just about every way, got vastly better mpg, and completely trouble free. A jewel of a motor, just wished it didn't sound like a Honda Accord. Great motor, I wouldn't mind getting another one someday.

      I think the Ford's high rpm gearing is tricking you, the 325hp 6 speed will never outperform 395hp 8 speed, maybe 1000 lb extra makes some difference... I have 5.7 Ram also and v6 F150 6 speed work truck and even the work truck is over weighted with tools, the get go feels like driving Explorer, it's just the nice way they geared it, the dohc Pentastar in Ram had similar feel to it compare to 5.7

      @@tallll70 It's no trick, it's power to weight, also 400 lb-ft of torque & 10 speed auto vs 410 lb-ft & 8-speed auto, The 0-60 of a 2.7L 4x4 Supercrew is 5.7 seconds, the 0-60 of a 5.7L 4x4 Crew Cab is 6.1 seconds, these are pretty consistent times with most published review sites. I can tell you my RAM is definitely slower than my Ecoboost with my GPS 0-60 meter as well. I said faster, I didn't say stronger. The 5.7L does have a higher tow rating than the 2.7L.

    Love my 2019 F150 2.7 twin turbo. I have the advantage over this guy because I have the 10 speed tranny, but what a great truck going on almost 3 years, 43,000+ miles, REDLINE oil at every change and absolutely no problems, great gas mileage and awesome speed in SPORT! 400 ft/lbs of torque does the job on a daily.

    The 2.7L engine serves 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, those numbers are better than the old 5.4L V8 SOHC 3 valve from 2004-08 300 horsepower and 365 lb-ft. Very good numbers considering my 5.7L Hemi barely beats it on torque.

      And your hemi makes that tq thousands of RPMs AFTER the 2.7 does. The 2.7 nearly has all 400ftlbs at 2k rpms depending on how it's being driven. And carries it up to 4600rpms of not a bit further before it falls off.
      3/4 of your tachomet the 2.7 has you beat in power and tq. That last bit is yours though.
      It's the same with my 5.0.
      the 2.7 is definitely making big v8s obsolete for truck engines.
      Just need to address that plastic oil pan. I'd hate for a log or a rock to crack it.
      From what I see, 2.7s have no problem making close to 400HP with mods. It'll prob turn out around 400 on 91-93 pump gas with tunes and exhaust mods.

    I have 2015 2.7l f150 xlt screw with sport appearance package, fx4 package 107, 000 miles. Me being a ford technician heavily influenced my decision to get the 2.7l and I got to drive all 3 engines prior to purchasing, I don't tow heavy or often (most I've towed is about 4,000lbs), I off-road A LOT only issue I have had is the aux trans fluid pump for stop start started to go out around 75k miles, easy fix with forscan to disable auto stop start. With S&B intake, full race intercooler, SPD down pipes and magnaflow exhaust, it will definitely put the gapplebees on most trucks on the road, I haven't even tuned it yet. 17 mpg hwy/city/offroad combined, 20mpg hwy, 18mpg city. 15mpg offroad in 4x4 loaded with my camp gear. The 2.7l is by far the best engine ford builds.

      dude u gotta tune your 2.7!! I bought a bully dog bdx tuner for my 2018 2.7 and holy crap its a completely different animal!!!! You don't realize how lazy Ford's tune is and how much horsepower and torque they leave on the table until you put in a 93 octane tune it is unreal I can't even explain it you have to experience it yourself!! The bdx 93 tune will put the 2nd gen 2.7 at a minimum of 390 horsepower and 480 pound feet of torque at crank! and with u having better intercooler and down pipes if u get a custom tune u would be well over 425hp and probably 550 torque or more!!! Your truck would be a monster!!!!

      @@trackpackgt877 dont have 93 octane where I live, only 91 plus gas is to expensive to run 9. I offroad alot, often find myself in very small towns can't always count on having 91 let alone 93.

      @@1FiftyOverland well you can get a 91 tune I forget a lot of people can't get 93 but the 91 tune is still completely different animal from the Stock tune and honestly if if you don't want to run higher octane I know a friend that has just an 87 octane tune on his 2.7 and it's still a lot faster and a lot more powerful than stock. You have a better intercooler and better downpipes you would have so much more gains from even an 87 tune to optimize those upgrades

    I went from a 18' 2.7L 0 to 130k miles. great engine. no issues. to a 23' new 5.0 truck. love 5.0. my complaint with 2.6 were 1 zero engine braking, 2 sound, 3 tows more, 4 get close to the same mpg as both ecoboost, 5 don't have to worry about replacing turbos.

    I had a 1st gen 2.7 with 96k miles on it and was great. good mileage and power. I now have a gen2 2.7, tuned, exhaust, intercooler, intake and have had zero issues with 86k on it

    The 2.7 only has one issue...leaky pans.
    Also, there were some sold in '16 with defective valve guide material. Apparently Ford did not anticipate the demand for the 2.7 and had to increase it's production. An outside vendor was sourced to supply heads for the 2.7. The vendor did not use specified materials which resulted in some engines being replaced.

    I like the way Larry thinks. I'm not as in love with the idea of a V8 as a lot of guys out there, clinging to the past. The most important things a truck needs in my opinion are good fuel economy and good capability. Of course reliability is important too, but the F150 isn't always the most reliable. It's certainly not the worst, but it's no Tundra (although it gets FAR better gas mileage). If you take care of it and do ALL of your scheduled maintenance the ecoboost engines will easily last 200,000. I'm seriously considering getting a new F150 with the 2.7 ecoboost, which is the best engine they put in the F150 in my opinion. It's a solid design and it offers the best balance between efficiency and performance.

    Im not a 2wd truck fan but for most people including me a 2wd with a locker will be enough to get the truck out of most situations! I have a 18 2.7 4x4 and i use my locker way way more than the 4x4. anyway love the 2.7 ecoboost when u tune them with a 93 octane tune there a completely different animal ford left so much power on the table for fuel mileage and comfort for the average driver. Anybody that has a 2.7 and don't have a tune I recommend looking into one makes it a completely different truck it's like adding a 3rd Turbo lol and its safe. Awesome video

    my grandpa had a 2.7 it was great! so fast and he got like 22mpg.the front end got kinda light when we towed hay tho. i just bought a 2021 xlt 3.5eco and i get like 16.5 mpg lol

      I paint houses for a living and have a '16 Transit full size van with the 3.5 eco boost and I'm averaging 16.5 driving around town. I ordered the truck brand new and if I could go back and do it again I would have gotten the non eco boost V6. The engine I have is great, but for just tooling around town the turbos are kinda overkill. I've talked to guys that have the regular base V6 and they say it has plenty of power.

    The 2.7 is a very well built engine.
    Anyone who knows the internal parts will agree. Alot of heavy-duty parts in there that can handle whatever is put at it.

    Everyone's wants and needs are different. I live in the southeastern US and we've had a 2007 GMC Canyon 4x2, regular cab since new. It's got the bigger 5cyl engine and 4-spd automatic. It's pretty much a stripped work truck. The only "features" it has are cruise control and tilt wheel. Manual everything. Vinyl upholstery and flooring. It suits our needs perfectly. We don't need a crew cab. We don't need 4WD. The 5cyl is a solid engine and it handles our towing and hauling needs. Anything more would have been overkill and a waste of money for us. It seems like this guy got exactly the truck he wanted and needed.

    Eco boost in the truck seem to last a lot longer then the transverse 3.5 v6 eco. They are amazing trucks I love my dads f150 it’s a pavement princess 😂

    Both engines are great. I actually traded in a 2018 2.7l for a 2019 5.0. I just prefer the V8. I knew I wanted to mod it with an exhaust and ect... and the 3.5 and 2.7 Ecos don't sound good with exhaust systems. Nothing beats the sound of a V8. I wanted that V8 rumble when I remote start the truck every morning.

      Yea I put a borla exhaust on my 2.7L and a k&n air intake. It sounds good but nothing like a v8. Its definitely more of a diesel almost sound when idle. And a rice rocket sound in hard throttle, just a little deeper. Lol. But I'm going to keep it as it was fairly cheap and does everything I need it to. It just doesnt have the sound of the old traditional v8's.

      My issue is with turbo & super chargers not # of cylinders. Drove a V6 F100 on the farm growing up & it was fine. I prefer naturally aspirated engines over turbocharged. Every turbocharged gas engine I've owned or knew someone who owned one has spent more time in the shop than on the road. Turbo & super chargers are best left to weekend toys & diesels IMO.

      Haha, 3.5 ecoboost needed new timing chain and new exhaust manifolds under 70k miles. The truck was rusting everywhere. I'll never buy another ford.

    I had a 2015 2.7 FX4 super crew great truck! Traded it on a 2017 Raptor. 2.7 was a great motor did off roading and pulled no problems.

    I like the truck it has a long bed very useful and the cab is all I would ever need enough power for what I do and I’ve had a 2 wheel drive truck for the past 25 years now and that’s all I really need. Plus you know. 2 wh drive is cheaper to own less parts to fix when something breaks. Yeah that’s a keeper Larry keep on trucking Buddy.

    I think the 2.7’s will last a while if you take care of them. They’ve been around long enough to where there are now quite a few with over 200,000 miles on them that are still going. Just don’t skimp on the maintenance or tow more than you’re supposed to and they’ll be fine.

      Mine is up to 200500 miles, first thing went bad at 190,000.... the battery died. Get over 19mpg and it is 4x4.

      I'd fully expect the motor to last. I would not expect those tiny turbos to last if it's a work truck pulling a 7500lb trailer every day.
      They're size properly for diesel like torque from low rpms but they run out of steam above 5,000rpms

    With the 10 speed these are easily getting in the low 20's mpg. A friend of mine has a 4x4 one with the 10 speed and he gets great gas mileage and he says it has plenty of power.

    I have a 2019 Ford 150 XLT with allot of extra goodies you normally find on a Lariat. It has 5.0 v8 that I had quite a few issues with. The dealership had to tear down the motor. Change cam phases. Reprogram the computer. The truck is fine now. I use it for work. I'm a carpenter. If I got another it would be a Super Duty 350 Crew cab with a 8' bed. The truck averages about 18 mpg. City & highway combined. Its a 4 wheel drive with a heavy duty payload package and trailer package as well. I average about 15, 000 per year.

    In AZ, if you live South then you don't need 4x4. I've been here for 50 years and realize that's the fact for most folks down here. No snow, no excessive rain or mud and roads are,.. eh,.. OK. Get what you need as far as a truck goes. Things don't rust in AZ typically. Rubber wears out, that's about it.

    These 2.7 ecoboost are under rated , get a Cheap 5 star tune,upgraded intercooler,intercooler piping amd a oil catch can,os all these need and it wakes them up,get good mpgs and reliable. More reliable than 3.5 and 5.0 and the trucks r not high demand so they are a lot cheaper than the other engines

    I own 2015 xl fx4 ext cab with the 2.7 I live in Baja live close to the beach use it to put my boat in the water with an extend a hitch has 46000 k miles always in an out of 4x4 It use to get 24 mpg until I upgraded the tires to a 33 inch Toyo RT now it will get 21 mpg on a good high way I love this truck.

    I have a 2015 F150 Lariat, 2.7 L, 4x4, with 78200 miles. Oil changes regularly, last month changed battery and plug at 75000 miles.

    Ecoboosts are great if you don't plan on going over 150,000 miles with them. I put over 200,000 miles on my F150 so the V8 is the best for what I use them for.

      My 2018 3.5 Ecoboost only has 46,000 miles and has had a hand full of issues already. Engine light has come on a few times. Cam phasers knock at idle when it’s hot. Transmission shifts really harsh and occasionally misses 4th gear when cold. But that’s what extended warranty is for 🤷‍♂️

    I have a 2015 with almost the same setup. Only difference is mine is a crew cab and I have a shell on the bed. 70k miles and the only problem was when I knocked the front end out of alignment, had to install an alignment kit for $500 because the truck doesn't have adjustable bolts...
    Been averaging 22mpg of mostly highway driving with occasionall towing. Overall I have been happy with the engine choice, but would have gotten 4 wheel drive if I was to purchase again.

    There is and eco mode on it. I had a 2016 XLT also and it still had the economy mode on it along with the others. But this is a tow wheel drive so I think it might b different in a few ways. But dam only 32k miles. I traded in my 2016 for my 2019 after I put 157k miles on it. Very nice clean truck

    I have the same truck in a crew cab 4x4 and pulled a 3800 lb RV trailer about 15,000 miles in 2019, going from Virginia to the West Coast and back again while hitting 22 national parks. Never had a single problem and still drive it today w/ about 80K miles on it. I religiously change the oil every 5K miles and only use Ford's synthetic. Still have the original brakes, so perhaps that speaks to my driving style, and I routinely average around 21-22 mpg with about 75% highway miles. Got 12-14 mpg pulling the trailer so can't complain about that. I suspect I'll drive it for another 5-8 years before moving up to something else. That said, I'd like to get something slightly smaller, such as the Ranger Tremor, if I can get the 2.7L engine in it.

      @@howardriggins4010 I hear ya, but it is kind of funny when I think back to my old 6th generation F100 with its 122 Hp 300 CID straight six. That was a hell of a truck that handled all sorts of abuse without a complaint and it did it with a 3 speed transmission. It wasn't really bigger than the current Ranger but I never had a problem putting 3 guys in the cab. Now, I have a F150 with an engine that has about half the displacement and more than twice the power, so both me and the truck got bigger with age. I now park at the far end of parking lots so I have enough room and to give myself a little exercise. As I'm approaching 70 now, just think it might be nice to park a little closer to the door and have a truck that easily fits in my garage.

      I like the truck, as a owner of a Lil 2.7 Ecoboost I gotta say I agree with Larry 100%! I’m sure I’ll read below all the guys that say only a V8 for me and 36,000 ain’t longterm, but Larry has exactly what he needs and ain’t been any problems, that’s a pretty good predictor of the future. I’m older to and I do love how quiet and torquey the lil 2.7 is!

      If you don’t have kids it’s ok. But if you drop kids off and no one in the passenger seat you have to open the main door so people can get dropped off.

He would then have his engineers reduce the robustness of the parts that lasted to cut costs and improve sales. A methode employed by most manufacturers especially ford, to this day...

    Great Trucks, my dad has a 2014 with 182K miles 3.5, loves his truck, i have driven the 2.7, with a 8000lb trailer in the back, drives better, dint' even feel it.

      @@denco.outdoorsman1821 i live in south Texas so its not hard to take off the emissions nobody checks them but it kind of sucks to spend $60,000 on a new truck to instantly have to drop a few more grand in to it to make it reliable also voiding Warrenty.

    I would definitely rather hear a review about one with 100,000 miles instead. 30,000 miles is pretty much 4 oil changes you might not even have to change the air filter.
    I own a 2015 F150 with the 2.7 and I have 45,000 miles. I'd love to know what to expect when I have double the mileage.

      There’s one on the Ford forum’16 with 300,000 miles plus. Supposedly changed oil when the oil minder said to and regular ford suggested maintenance intervals. Looks like mostly highway miles. I haven’t followed that thread in months so I’m not sure what’s up with that truck currently.

    TFL you should do a video on vehicle shortage. In WV i feel that our lots only have half of the trucks and maybe less. Used trucks are over priced due to demand.

    Buddy of mine has a 2012 3.5L with 260K on it, all original, even the timing chain and phasers, only thing replaced has been exhaust manifold gaskets due to broken studs.

      It’s a mystery on why some people don’t have phaser and timing chain stretch issues and others don’t. Oil change intervals, quality of oil?

    I in 2023 want a truck 10 years old with the ecoboost, crew cab, under 150,000 miles, and for at about $10-15 when now they are still about >$20,000. Aurora Colorado help

    The 2.7 is a great truck if you want the size of a f150 with the mpg of a midsized truck. I would not suggest it in 4x4 with ties or hilly terrain.

    2.7 was first released in 2015, 3.5 is also still an option and the preferred option for heavy towing.

      It seems like from evaluation from 3.5 or 3.3s NA is about the same. Those engines are for those who want new but want to spend as least as possible or some people are just down on turbos.
