What a nightmare! I am a Swiss doctor, and if you had any symptoms of a heard attack in Switzerland, you can call an fully equipped ambulance that would arrive within one hour and you would be driven to a cardiac unit for diagnosis and treatment

You may or may not work within the system.
If you can see my other post look up the film & website I mention .
The overworked & thinly spread care workers are by design.
There are huge monies in the NHS most of which goes to admin & private partners .

Your compassion and validation of the suffering happening to countless people is truly touching my soul. It’s just beyond comprehension that we have the technology to provide medical care and yet the general public suffer. We the people are turned away and sent home from emergency services and told to follow up with our primary care doctor. At best it’s 2-3 months waiting for an appointment. How many people have died while waiting? Thank you for creating a new service that can help those in your area. The problem is global. Something really needs to change in the whole medical system. I hope you are successful in helping as many people as you can.

The political parties need to stop squabbling over minor issues and put together a manifesto that sorts out healthcare for all in the UK. In Thailand, my wife went to see my cardiologist without an appointment. She went before 8 and had blood tests and other tests and was given medication all by 11am. She's going for a follow up tomorrow.
The cost was around 8,000 baht £175.
I suggest getting a flight to Thailand where you can see a specialist immediately and have a small holiday at the same time. Hospital costs can be very expensive as well as operations. However, following a consultation, you can get a very accurate estimate of what it will all cost. Better than waiting to die.

My BP started to go low and my cardiologist told me to reduce the meds. I reduced them to zero and don't take them any more. I monitor my BP and heart rate which appears higher due to the Afib but has also become lower.
I thought I would have to take the meds for the rest of my life and was warned against rebound.
I have stopped carbs and started mild intermittent fasting.
I haven't seen my cardiologist in a while because I'm living in Portugal.
At 76, I know my valves are leaky and my heart isn't perfect but the BP is normal. I do regular excercise riding my E-Bike but obviously have to rest if I over exert. Am I taking risks?

Sorry for your loss for Father and friend. I love that you are trying new ways to be helpful to those who need health care. My concern is that the third way is using the original understaffed and overworked people in the system already. Or is the expectation that private hospitals, etc have a lot more time for it to work. I know that private healthcare insurance is magical when cutting down times for specialists tests and appointments, etc. but surely there is a limit too. Would that soon become priced out of reach for the poorer end of the community. You are very dear to this community. Please continue to be the caring doctor that you are. ❤

If I were in the same country, I would be all over this offer - have been dealing with some serious cardiovascular issues and am very disappointed by the standard approach offered as a 'solution'. On a more positive note, the whole situation has given me the unwavering drive to leave no stone unturned from a lifestyle standpoint, taking diet and exercise to levels I would have never believed were a possibility for me to achieve, let alone enjoy, before.

What a wonderful idea, Dr. Sanjay! This plan is born out of genuine care, love and respect and will prosper. 🙏🏻 Something wonderful happened with the original NHS and it can and will happen again. I am sure that many people would also be interested in paying for a general check-up package during which BP & bloods are taken and heart issues looked out for. I’d love to get my cardiovascular system checked out and do have private health insurance but you have to do everything through your GP first and getting an appointment is a major issue. Our cars get better health check-ups than their owners. Time for that to change. May God bless your venture!

Something I'd love to see happen is a new type of community GP - working privately but locally, on a subscription scheme; whereby a GP would take on a group of patients all regularly paying in to the scheme to provide the GP with a sensible wage. This would ensure stability and continuity of care, which I believe is a foundation stone of clinical excellence.

Wow. I'll sign up for that. As a sufferer of cardiac anxiety, and my cardiologist not wanting a CT done because "echo looks ok" ecg looks ok. What a blessing you are Dr Gupta, and I have had a consult with him.... I couldn't say enough, to give thanks, about the information and demeanor he has, and compassion. So if you haven't booked a consult with Dr Sanjay then you should, even if it's just a screening for health.

I agree with your overall sentiments regarding the NHS as a whole. Major reform is required as a lot of money and resources are wasted - 'diversity managers' on £50k+ for example.
The public also need to take responsibility for their health and stop wasting NHS time with bullshit trips to A&E and not attending GP/hospital appointments. Fines for time wasters should be introduced and access to interventions limited if your ailments are entirely self inflicted (i.e. you're morbidly obese via dietary choices but then need a new hip etc).
There's no 'easy fix' and maybe we need to get really tough with those who abuse their bodies but expect the NHS (and tax payer) to pick up the pieces.

You have such a big heart. Your father and friend would be so proud of you. Great job on getting this off the ground. Hopefully, you will prove it as a viable option during the 3-month trial run so it can continue to help cardiac patients forever.

You Sir are an incredible, caring, human being. Thank you for all the concern on our behalf & for finding a way to help in these very difficult times. I am dreadfully sorry about your dear friend and remembering your father in this way is wonderful. I can’t believe it is 3 years since you lost him, how time flies 😢

How sad. I'm so sorry for your loss. I suspect your friend is not the only one to have been failed by the NHS, sadly. That's a fantastic idea about heart package - well done and thank you. We need more doctors like you!

A sad and frightening story Dr. Gupta that worries me greatly. I'm very heartened to hear about the 3rd (possible) way! We shouldn't have to do this but we do all need to tap into any new ways of protecting ourselves. I have had a consultation with you previously and upon experiencing another long episode of SVT yesterday I was 22nd in line on the phone at my surgery. I wanted to book an appointment to have a look at any new beds to help me control this as it was an 8hour stint with the Palps. Good luck with the proposed new system. ❤

Dear Sanjay, I was sad to hear about your friend’s death and I am sad that so many people are similarly unable to get the healthcare they need in our broken system. I feel inspired by your work. You know what you are talking about, you have the ability to think things through clearly, you have a big heart and you are fearless in your willingness to speak the truth as you see it. These are the very qualities that are needed if we are to find a way forward. I hope that your new venture succeeds, but even if it doesn’t I don’t think you will give up! Your love for your father is evident and I am sure that he would be very proud of you.

This is great. Every time I go to a doctor or er and get tests (no images) they charge me $1400. I went and got a chest xray once and they charged me $5400. I wish people like you were here in the states. Sorry for your loss, I hope you can help lots of people.

When I finally went to the E.R. after a week of activity induced chest pain I was treated like the only patient on earth. They had my back for sure. I received a stent the next day in a 99% blocked artery. I have health insurance. The whole ordeal cost my about 7K. Our system is far from perfect but I am very thankful for everyone who took care of me.

Thanks Sanjay for a great video. Wish there were more caring doctors like yourself. I sent a letter to my practice a few weeks ago about the state of affairs in being unable to get an appointment in a timely manner. I got a reply from one of the head doctors showing the utter arrogance you mentioned. I just replied to him telling him refuting every complaint with white washing is not the way and reiterating every thing I had said in the first letter

Thank you Dr. Gupta for your generosity and caring heart. I wish we had more doctors like you in the U.S. I just had a third stent placed in my heart. I have insurance which costs me 900.00$ a month with a 8,700$ deductible. I am too young for our government Medicare , only 64 you need to be 65. I thank fully can afford my care, but there are many that cannot. My blood thinner is 225.00$ a month. I have stopped smoking 40 yrs ago, don’t drink, exercise and eat 90% organic and clean. I think your plans are wonderful and I hope all goes well and many people will not go through what your friend experienced. So sorry for your loss. May God bless you.

When you are 65 and ready for Medicare, please do not go to HMO!!!! You have to get a referral from your primary dictir to see any specialist, and you have to wait for approval for procedures. Pay extra and go to a supplement plan. It's even better than PPO. I do not have to get for any referral. As long as the doctor accepts Medicare, it's good to go. No in network or out of network BS. Hope you are doing well. Get a good Medicare insurance person if you have one. I am fortunate that my daughter offered to pay for the extra premium but they are also relieved that I don't have to wait for referrals, it could be a matter of life and death.
