LIsten Derek (and Kevin @JYD) keeps me interested and entertained enough so that I watch all of his videos and priortize them for when I have time to really relax and enjoy them on the big screen like the fine film productions that they are - and you guys, I don't even drive. I never had a driver's license and have never been interested in cars. Between you and Kevin and Scotty Kilmer, I have started noticing makes of cars and things like that, I never did before. Maybe I'll even learn to drive (I'm kind of old for that! :-)

I guess the cylinder walls were just way too thin. The 2.8 V6 loved to throw rods like in my 86 Z24 even with proper oil and filter changes.

Very very sorry for your loss but dont forget theres other kids out there, As a lad who didnt have a dad at home l would have loved the opportunity to have had a neighbour let me work on stuff with them and learn the basics. I had a newer S-10. The engine was fine though it wasted gasoline. Stupid transmission and transfer case always needed work. Front lower ball joints had to be replaced twice in a 4 year period.

Hey, I like seeing the 80’s & 90’s Era cars and trucks. Always brings back lots of memories. Those were tough little trucks. When you got geared up for the glove box mice nests, I laughed so hard. Best show on TH-cam by far.
I would like to add a suggestion on rusty bolts and nuts. My. Dad and I had to remove large machines from the floor. Dad would get a bottle of warm coke and pour it on the nuts and floor bolts that hold down the machines. Works every time.
A guy misses his old '93 S10, last of the square body. Never cared for 94's on what with all the swoops and child safe corners. That '93 and I had some fond memories after 380k or so miles. One fond memory was when the truck needed its second replacement clutch and the broken springs fell between the clutch disk and flywheel rendering the clutch pedal useless. Sure, a feller could've replaced it right away, but I did the right thing and just kept on driving it daily for the next 6 months, and replacing both the clutch disk, and a starter. Have to say though, I got pretty good at RPM matching for shifts, even for downshift. Also learned the space to drop and replace that starter was tighter than Roseanne Barr's girdle. Love all your content, reminds me of growing up wrenching on vehicles and anything else me and my dad could find. Glad to see you doing the same with your boys. Bring the Thunder!
Hey, Derek, Check your pedal assembly mount! My ex-girlfriend's trooper did that, and I replaced EVERYTHING at least 4 times, and came to find out, the pedal assembly was cracked and bent all over!! Replaced the pedal assembly, and she worked perfectly.

Had an 88 GMC flavor of this truck, bought it cheap, replaced the throttle body and distributor and it ran good for 5 years, 4 speed was fun, but coulda used a 5th on the highway. Great job Derek, love your sense of humor, I need a T Shirt that says, " That's fine " .... Love your channel and your ability to revive forgotten rides....Eventually sold the truck for nearly double what I had in it, was my first fuel injected vehicle ever...

Wish I'd seen this 10 years ago. When I tried to fix the rear brake lines on my '88 S10, figured out that a brad nail plug in the fitting off the distribution block works real good at converting to 2 wheel brakes. Never had the chance to test it good because the throttle body injection decided it wanted to be next on the fix-it list a week later, so I traded it for a '98 Olds 98.

Hey, I like seeing the 80’s & 90’s Era cars and trucks. Always brings back lots of memories. Those were tough little trucks. When you got geared up for the glove box mice nests, I laughed so hard. Best show on TH-cam by far.

I would like to add a suggestion on rusty bolts and nuts. My. Dad and I had to remove large machines from the floor. Dad would get a bottle of warm coke and pour it on the nuts and floor bolts that hold down the machines. Works every time.

A guy misses his old '93 S10, last of the square body. Never cared for 94's on what with all the swoops and child safe corners. That '93 and I had some fond memories after 380k or so miles. One fond memory was when the truck needed its second replacement clutch and the broken springs fell between the clutch disk and flywheel rendering the clutch pedal useless. Sure, a feller could've replaced it right away, but I did the right thing and just kept on driving it daily for the next 6 months, and replacing both the clutch disk, and a starter. Have to say though, I got pretty good at RPM matching for shifts, even for downshift. Also learned the space to drop and replace that starter was tighter than Roseanne Barr's girdle.
Love all your content, reminds me of growing up wrenching on vehicles and anything else me and my dad could find. Glad to see you doing the same with your boys. Bring the Thunder!

Hey, Derek, Check your pedal assembly mount! My ex-girlfriend's trooper did that, and I replaced EVERYTHING at least 4 times, and came to find out, the pedal assembly was cracked and bent all over!! Replaced the pedal assembly, and she worked perfectly.

Had an 88 GMC flavor of this truck, bought it cheap, replaced the throttle body and distributor and it ran good for 5 years, 4 speed was fun, but coulda used a 5th on the highway. Great job Derek, love your sense of humor, I need a T Shirt that says, " That's fine " .... Love your channel and your ability to revive forgotten rides....Eventually sold the truck for nearly double what I had in it, was my first fuel injected vehicle ever...

One of the best small pickup trucks ever made. Had a 2000 with 200,000 miles just regular maintenance until it got totalled.
The 99-06 Silverado/Sierra were the best full size trucks too. Can’t kill the things. Couldn’t kill the 91 Sonoma I had either. S10/Sonomas we’re the best small trucks.
Every one of those trucks had nearly 300,000 miles when I got rid of them.
I have a 1986 gmc s15 started restoring with my dad before he passed love that old truck 2.5l 4 speed manual iron Duke runs strong got some body work and paint to still do yet and a couple odds and ends love your videos

Wish I'd seen this 10 years ago. When I tried to fix the rear brake lines on my '88 S10, figured out that a brad nail plug in the fitting off the distribution block works real good at converting to 2 wheel brakes. Never had the chance to test it good because the throttle body injection decided it wanted to be next on the fix-it list a week later, so I traded it for a '98 Olds 98.
