LIsten Derek (and Kevin @JYD) keeps me interested and entertained enough so that I watch all of his videos and priortize them for when I have time to really relax and enjoy them on the big screen like the fine film productions that they are - and you guys, I don't even drive. I never had a driver's license and have never been interested in cars. Between you and Kevin and Scotty Kilmer, I have started noticing makes of cars and things like that, I never did before. Maybe I'll even learn to drive (I'm kind of old for that! :-)

I guess the cylinder walls were just way too thin. The 2.8 V6 loved to throw rods like in my 86 Z24 even with proper oil and filter changes.

I had a newer S-10. The engine was fine though it wasted gasoline. Stupid transmission and transfer case always needed work. Front lower ball joints had to be replaced twice in a 4 year period.

I would like to add a suggestion on rusty bolts and nuts. My. Dad and I had to remove large machines from the floor. Dad would get a bottle of warm coke and pour it on the nuts and floor bolts that hold down the machines. Works every time.

We simply don't have any of those nasty rust issues out here "west of the Cascades" in the Pacific NW. The underside of my old 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport still looks like new, and it's sat outside it's entire life. And there's no actual rust damage to the underside of my 1977 DODGE D200 Adventurer.

Be glad yours has the 2.5L. The 2.8L was slow with bad gas mileage. I had a 91 with a tired but reliable 4.3L. 0psi oil pressure at warm idle. Drove it like that for 4 years. Never seized up or knocked though.
Drove it 50k like that. Had good oil pressure when cold, but not warm. Was going to find another 4.3 for it, but got a good deal on a Sierra. Guy who bought the 91 put in a 350.
The 99-06 Silverado/Sierra were the best full size trucks too. Can’t kill the things. Couldn’t kill the 91 Sonoma I had either. S10/Sonomas we’re the best small trucks.
Wish I'd seen this 10 years ago. When I tried to fix the rear brake lines on my '88 S10, figured out that a brad nail plug in the fitting off the distribution block works real good at converting to 2 wheel brakes. Never had the chance to test it good because the throttle body injection decided it wanted to be next on the fix-it list a week later, so I traded it for a '98 Olds 98.
Hey, I like seeing the 80’s & 90’s Era cars and trucks. Always brings back lots of memories. Those were tough little trucks. When you got geared up for the glove box mice nests, I laughed so hard. Best show on TH-cam by far.

We simply don't have any of those nasty rust issues out here "west of the Cascades" in the Pacific NW. The underside of my old 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport still looks like new, and it's sat outside it's entire life. And there's no actual rust damage to the underside of my 1977 DODGE D200 Adventurer.

Be glad yours has the 2.5L. The 2.8L was slow with bad gas mileage. I had a 91 with a tired but reliable 4.3L. 0psi oil pressure at warm idle. Drove it like that for 4 years. Never seized up or knocked though.
Drove it 50k like that. Had good oil pressure when cold, but not warm. Was going to find another 4.3 for it, but got a good deal on a Sierra. Guy who bought the 91 put in a 350.
He kept the same transmission. Apparently the 4.3 & the 350 use the same bellhousing.
this channel has changed my whole outlook on life. Never have I laughed like this.

I now realize that life in the Midwestern plains can be pretty great.
One of the best small pickup trucks ever made. Had a 2000 with 200,000 miles just regular maintenance until it got totalled.
The 99-06 Silverado/Sierra were the best full size trucks too. Can’t kill the things. Couldn’t kill the 91 Sonoma I had either. S10/Sonomas we’re the best small trucks.
Every one of those trucks had nearly 300,000 miles when I got rid of them.
Wish I'd seen this 10 years ago. When I tried to fix the rear brake lines on my '88 S10, figured out that a brad nail plug in the fitting off the distribution block works real good at converting to 2 wheel brakes. Never had the chance to test it good because the throttle body injection decided it wanted to be next on the fix-it list a week later, so I traded it for a '98 Olds 98.
Hey, I like seeing the 80’s & 90’s Era cars and trucks. Always brings back lots of memories. Those were tough little trucks. When you got geared up for the glove box mice nests, I laughed so hard. Best show on TH-cam by far.
