    I have a suggestion for you, since most of us are xperia users, try making your content in a 21:9 aspect ratio.

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Hey thanks for the suggestion, if/when I make videography related content then I would definitely consider it, however for the regular type of POV / Tutorial videos it would make more sense to have it in a 16:9 aspect ratio due to various factors like, for a start my chest action cam does not record in that format, I would have to crop in post and would degrade the feed quality further and losing more of the view. When doing tutorials and direct screen captures from a computer the native resolution is, again, 16:9. So whilst I'm all in on making 21:9 videos, it would just not be viable for the type of content I put out . Hope that makes sense. Cheers 👍

    Great videos. It's nice to have a channel which shows you how to use the Xperia cameras properly. Keep it up💪

      @UpsideLens  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks really appreciate 😊 well I must say it is a channel about mobile phone photography, it was never an Xperia ONLY channel... I just want to share with people my passion for photography and that one doesn't NEED to spend thousands on camera equipment, lenses and attachment to produce beautiful images, I just happened to have an Xperia phone... But this may all change very soon 👀 not by choice but by need, seeing Sony's poor choice of strategy with the VI 🥴

    Just bought for like $930 from AliExpress, pretty happy with it. Been a Sony phone only user since 2005. I have proper camera gonna buy even more cameras and have a small production company, but yeah use filters if you wanna mix some BTS shots or so from your phone into your main video, or just use the phone alone. I think Xperia 1v, especially in 4K HLG then transformed into Rec.709, is good enough as a studio camera for non-camera centric channels.
    The Xperia 1 V gonna be crucial as a waterproof monitor and field recorder (to record how the camera is working internally), especially with all monitors being very vulnerable to rain during our monsoon season.

    the ND filter idea is brilliant as i'm wary of the clip on ones as they press against the screen

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I'm not a big fan of the clip on ones, the one I use is much more robust and I know it is safe and I won't miss a shot because it moved or something, and on top of that it doesn't block the screen 👍

    quality of phone camera's is amazingly good too lately. the differences with dslr's seems to get smaller every year in my opinion.

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes quality has come leaps and bounds in recent years but there is still a huge gap between mirrorless cameras and phones ! Some of the constraints are purely due to physics (ie: sensor size / pixel size / lenses...) but nice to see manufacturers trying to even the field by concentrating their efforts on other modules apart from the main module.

    6:20 Magsafe case is more worth it in my opinion because it will gave you that precision when you want to use the wireless charger

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Magsafe is only for iPhones since it's built inside Apple phones. "Magnetic" attachments/cases/mods made for android phone is a different topic. I personally wouldn't use them long term for wireless charging since seeing how inductive charging works it could (and does) lead to over heating, more inefficient charging and even risk of fires in extreme cases.

    u should have aligned that magnet filter thingy little bit to the right (from our view). u left the gap for light to come in if the sun is behind u

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately because the filter holder is designed for S23 Ultra you have to install it the way i did otherwise you end up having some of the lenses being partially obscured (vignetting). yes there is a gap but it can easily be fixed by using some black tape if needs be. personally i just cover that gap with my hand if the sun is behind me, not an issue :)

    I would have loved to see the magnetic filter holder in use. I just can't make sense of it that a 67mm filter should fit on the Xperia 1V? The camera module itself is 52mm long. When I searched your link on Amazon, the 67mm magnetic filter holder fits the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. There are also magnetic filters that goes straight onto a lens. Will these magnetic filters work on the back of my Xperia 1V?

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use the phone to record my videos hence why I wasn't able to demonstrate it in this video however it is shown whilst in use in my other videos ( Lowlight photography video / automatic Vs manual video and my latest video at the seaside too ).
      Long story short yes it is originally designed for the S23 Ultra but works absolutely fine with the Xperia 1 V. The reason for a much larger filter is to be able to include ALL 3 lenses on the same filter, and not having to mess about with horrible "clip-on" ones which not only cover parts of your screen but also have the bad habit of moving across your lens ! Hope it all makes sense 👍

    How about the Sony shooting grip and Vlogging monitor?

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tbh it really depends on your needs. To me they're pretty pointless, the grip is an overpriced piece of kit that can be substituted for a cheap mini tripod and a Bluetooth remote, the vlogging monitor is not my cup of tea, when I record my vlogs I connect the phone to a 40" TV to check the lighting / framing / colours via HDMI output, when I'm out and about I don't really need to see myself, I just look at the lens and I know I'll be in the frame, again may have it's use case but more "gadgets" for Sony to make money out of their customers 😅

    • @theSFCchannel
      @theSFCchannel 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@UpsideLens I find it very handy when doing vlogs . For example this year I'm starting a new travel.and tech show, so I'm off to Romania to visit where Vlad Tepes was born etc. selfie monitor is very much needed . The shooting grip I bought second hand and got a good deal from it, but you can get a clone one which is much less costly.

    Does that powrig need a spesial specific filter to be able snapped into the mount? Or it can use universal filter with she same mm?

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure what you mean here, you install the POWRIG holder on your phone, and you use a 67mm filter.

    • @UpsideLens
      @UpsideLens  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I reached out to them to see if they would be looking at making a version for the Xperia range but never heard back from them.... So short answer is S23 Ultra version 😅 they also have a smaller version but doesn't allow for all 3 lenses to line up.

    • @UpsideLens

      I do have a generic Bluetooth remote that I use very rarely (I tend to use the timer if needed) but good shout, remotes can be handy depending on the situation.

    there's a slight problem with the powrig filter mount.
    There is vignetting on the ultrawide lens. Not a problem for people who don't intend to shoot ultrawide, but it's a bummer for me personally.

      I used to put my hand behind the filters I put on just in case as yes there is a gap but that can be solved by using a bit of black tape if really needed. On the plus side no vignetting on any lenses 👍
