And it's great, we want Voron to keep thriving, BambuLabs wouldn't exist without Voron, they revolutionized the 3D printing consumer market and I assure you the next generation of IDEX and Toolchanger printers will be a mix of a copy of the Prusa XL and a Voron version of a toolchanger.
a Voron user will know how to maintain this sovol, non Voron / custom 3d printers will have a very... very hard time to figure out whats wrong when it will start having issues, and it will.
Totally agree with you, but I think you miss the point, the SV08 is in no ways a competitor to Voron (despite their stupid communication plan), as I said in a previous comment SV08 seems to be the core XY Ender 3 equivalent, it's nearly as good as any Voron solution but it's just an entry point and an open source entry point (this need to be tested and confirmed). Today, I can't afford the investment (nor time) needed in a Voron solution (2.4 or trident) but I'm eager to play with coreXY- then Sovol happen and propose the SV08, in my place what would you do ?
Great Video and some great points about it. I have been watching how this printer has been progressing and the issues that have been showing up. I just ordered mine, and I love working on machines like this. I know the first three upgrades I will be making. Well 4 actually. First is swapping out the mainboard fan to a quieter one. Second I will be upgrading is the bed level sensor to a Eddy sensor, its more percise making bed meshing and makes adhesion more precise. and 3rd the hotend, because I have seen a few problems with the factory nozzle getting clogged when running PTEG, and one minor issue I will fix is the wire harness on the bottom of the printer that passes through the sheetmetal cover, to protect it from rubbing on the sheetmetal. And to all of you complaining about him saying its a Voron, ITS a Voron LIKE printer, but he can say or call it whatever he wants its his Channel!
I don't think it's going to replace Voron. It's a budget machine with cheaper and proprietary parts (granted mods will make up for this). Plus, as others have mentioned, Voron is more than just a printer. That being said, I still bought an SV08 with the enclosure. Was 5 minutes late to launch and missed the super early bird pricing, but still got the printer and enclosure for $620 which is less than half what I paid for my 2.4. I'm looking forward to getting it and comparing it to my actual Vorons. Also, the whole thing with Voron is parts readily available off the shelf. That's not the case with the SV08, so this is not a Voron by definition.
Without the rise of the Voron, this wouldn’t exist, it has obviously been inspired by the Voron design, full marks to Sovol for producing this excellent machine at this price point, I can see it going a long way with a big following, great for the 3D printing beginner and for those who want to get into the hobby at a reasonable price.

Thanks! I haven’t seen any other videos on it, but my experience was great and assembly went super smooth, the manual was excellent and the parts fit together so well! 💜
In all fairness its really hard for people to build printers on a stream. Ive built a voron myself and its hella hard / demanding - I would hate to have to worry about an audience as well.
I'm a little late to the party, but don't think the voron community cares. The team builds cool things because they want to push limits and build new things. I have a 2.4 that i wouldn't trade even if this was available out the gates. My voron is my tinker toy and i would not have known anything about printing without it
I am glad you liked it and the youtubers that complained are the same ones that complain about every printer. And I see we have a huge echo chamber in the comments. I commend sovol for trying something different. I don't expect it to be perfect though. I just wish people could be happy that these companies are coming out with their version of a core xy. It will lower the prices and give us choices. If not there would be crealiaty and bambu. And we would be paying much more for a printer. Just my 2 cents.
People who want to build a Voron enjoy the building of the machine as much, and sometimes more, than the final product. I think this SV08 definitely has its place in the market but I don’t think it will affect Voron one little bit. Creality with their K range and Bambu Labs have more to worry about.
I'm starting my 4th voron. A 350mm Trident. I have built a 2.4, v02 and an enderwire. I don't need more printers, but I love the build process. This sovol was so tempting to get and tinker with. Looks interesting and the price is great.
I don’t think it’s going to negatively affect the Voron project. I’d say it’s similar to the PC market in that one you build yourself will better suit the user than anything prebuilt off the shelf.

I self sourced my voron for 850€ (without rpi, including delivery fees). It's a lovely beast. (jlcmc instead of mitsumi frame, other kind aluminum). Also, should a new revision come from voron, i can just easily upgrade.
I think this printer is hitting a market that typically gets left out. However I think its coming like 2 years to late. Multi filament printing is absolutely the future of printing going forward. I think if Sovol should have showcased something that clearly proves that this printer will support that or is capable of doing it. Without that proof, this really is just going to be printer people get rid of for a multi material / multi color printer. Even if we dont care about multi material or color, it should support dual filament feeder due to massive print volume size. This printer can easily out print a spool of filament. Im not complaining but just forward thinking on some stuff i think they missed.
I have my machine now, have another Klipper printer and I am using an external RPI to control that one. I configured KlipperScreen to switch between the two (the other printer and the SV08) and it simply controls it through the network port. So that is very simple and works well.
Machines like this are the new wave. Back in the bedslinger era, everybody copied the Ender 3 and Prusa MK3. Now we're in the corexy era, and Voron is providing the blueprints.
I'm very interested in this machine as the largest build area I have right now is the X1-C. More content on it would be very welcome. They are offering the upgrade touch screen on the website. The base price is $549 on the web site, however.
Napster, Ahh the good old days. Wait this is a 3d printing video! If I hadn't just bought a 10in resin printer and a Creality laser engraver I'd have ordered one of these. I'm still rocking old 210mm FDM printers and a helmet-class printer was on the cards before I got the engraver instead. Maybe in a few months.... Cheers and thanks for the info.
PLEASE follow up! I have to know if they are fixing the issues, specifically the Z offset. It seems like its a click-to-print machine, requiring very little tinkering to get very good prints, but also.... all the tinkering to get better or faster. Very excited for that. Also I can start printing bigger cosplay parts all in one
It really frustrates me that every fast printer drops speeds like 500 to 700mms but none of the videos online actually show it. Is it better to just assume that these printers can't do that and can only print at like 400?
I get that. I don’t worry too much, top speeds on cars, or even top speeds on drills… they can do it, but the results or wear and tear aren’t worth it.
Thank you for the great video. This is a printer I was waiting for, on which I can print A4-size tables/signs (A4= 297x210 mm) and smaler frames for A4-pictures up to approx. 342x255 mm. Biut two points I would appreciate to see improved in future. 1. What about an enclosuer / housing. I beliefe, Sovol will launch this 3d-printer with full enclosure and some improvements soon. 2. The printbed temperaure should reach a max. of 110°C to be able to print ASA and control temp. constant at 105°C.
I see that the price is now $549, which is still a killer deal. For reference, the orginal Creality CR-10 was selling for about $400 six years ago. We have certainly come a long way. I am also noticing that the Sovol website is showing the enclosed version of the SV08 is $699, and with the enclosure and the touch screen it is $769. I thought that the next printer that I was going to buy would be the FLSun S1 at $1499; now, I am thinking my next printer might be the SV08 instead.
I have been wanting to build a Voron. The build looked like a lot of fun but I know that when I got to the programing portion and tweaking I would have given up, just no patience for that. I am seriously looking at the SOVOL SV08 now.
While I do like the Sovol SV08, I am not a fan of the custom extrusions. I know a lot of companies are doing this including laser engravers, but it makes it harder to modify. If you wanted to raise the Z height, it would be almost impossible to do. Still, I would not mind having one. Better than buying a Voron kit which usually does not include the 3d printed parts.
Great video - subscribed! How is the extruder for flexibles? How slow a speed is needed? Any word from sovol to fix the bed adhesion? Are files forced to go thru their servers in China or are files local and private?
@@LoyalMoses officially i hear Co-Print is being pushed, and thats dead in the water for most (€400-500+lots+lots of waste), i spotted today on the SV08 FB group there a yt'er doing a toolchanger (teachingtech i think)< im stoked if its gooing to be good.
I still print on it .. sometimes maybe there will be a new bed coming .. but i have the cable helper printed on it and a smoke alarm near it :) Anyway , i also had no visible deforming at the area of the cable. I print actually on it with 0,6mm nozzle. But i also ordered a SV08 for 450€ It was around 449$ plus 10$ delivery, but the Euro exchange got it back to 450,87€
Like with any 3d printer they are consumables. So just buy a pack of hardened ones. 🤷♂️ And while you ae at it get some 0.6 too if you want to print faster and some 0.2 if you want to print more finer details.
would like to ask what fan does it use for power supply?. size ? and voltage ? i get it that it is the loudest thing on printer. then SV08 should be equipped with TMC 2209's, and I use those myself at 1.15V, where they're dead silent. Have you tried testing what voltage SV08 use them at, just for the fun of it? I'm curious, because the stepper drivers are similar, but the noise level is night and day between my printer and the SV08. It could also mean an early burn-out. But it might also just be true to them being a different brand, but since the TMC 2209's support up to 28V for motor supply and up logic voltage up to 5V, it might also just be a far more aggressive tuning than what I use.
Truth be told, it reminds me a bit of me first printer, the ender 3, at the time I would -of course- have preferred to start with a Prusa, sure, but didn't have the money in my pocket and was a bit shy of building a printer from ground. Ok, I've never reached the level of quality offered by Prusa (not that far away though) but I had a lot of fun, learned all the basics, it served me well for two years and has now found a new happy home since I invested in a biqu B1 and a tronxy crux 1(one other hobbiist lesson I've learned over time always have at least 2 printers, 1 stock and one to tinker with ;-)) Then is the sovol an affordable version of the Voron 2.4, absolutely not!! Can it be the best place to start playing with core XY, I sure hope so, if it respect its open source promise. Then my best wish would be that one of the first mod for the SV08 would be a solution to integrate the stealthburner to replace the propriatary extruder ;-)
I think Sovol knocked it out of the park with the SV06, and SV08. I am not sure I would consider the other printers they offer, or most other printers that any company offers, for that matter. That being said, my budget is very limited. I have the SV06, and the thing I like about it (aside from it being basically a Prusa Mk3 with a 32 bit board and a minimalist price) is that the minimal upgrades that I do, are real improvements to a well designed machine. I am not just printing an entirely new machine, because the original was so badly engineered. The price is because of subsidies. The U.S.A. subsidies' corn production, other countries subsidies other product production, like say 3D Printers.
I like those machines as well. There are LOTS of rumors on how these machines are paid for or subsidized. I've spoken at length with many of these companies directly over the years - the costs are so low because their components are readily available and produced at scale. They can build basic bed slingers for less than $50, and of course more complex 3D printers have increased costs.
My SV06+ had a terrible PEI build sheet. Once I got a new sheet my issues with bed adhesion went away. I am guessing they are using the same supplier of PEI sheets for this build too.
I think large aux interfaces are better addons. If you want one you can have one and move it between machines depending on which your fussing with at any particular moment. I'd personally rather control it from my phone.
I’m two months into trying to figure out my first printer. I’m leaning towards the p1p or this. Any advise? Please? This has been the hardest decision on a product I have ever made.
Voron is a thing that people are proud of making, and it gives them trememdous satisfaction. They hate this sort of thing. No effort. P.S. I just bought one.
I think it will only increase the relevance of Voron, especially in markets like India, where sourcing the components is near to next impossible or way too expensive!
@@LoyalMoses We typically end up paying around 35% more i.e a voron 2.4 mid tier printer build is $2384! Which is way out of the budget for 99.98% of Indians. Spares become another nightmare. Customs processing for Chinese imports are a nightmare. Sovol has a direct dealer and their pricing is competitive. We are waiting for the SV08.
Can a Bambu Lab hotend be installed in that toolhead? It seems to have similar mounting screws. Could you please check? It would be fantastic if it fits, especially since there are third-party Bambu hotends with high flow capabilities.
Cheap to call it a Voron. Can you post likes to the top 10 upgrades for this printer, since it's "infinitely upgradable". By your logic, nearly every printer is infinitely upgradable
How is this the BEST Voron 2.4? If anything it's a super basic version of it for a small price. Also I don't see how you would bolt anything to this frame, do I need to drill the frame now for every mod?
It’s like the Voron crowd has suddenly forgotten how to mod and tinker the moment this machine was released. Rather than be so insecure about it, celebrate it! Be excited about innovation and new platforms.
Edit: unless it does use 20x20 extrusions as the frame and just has a bunch of covers. I see it on the gantry but cant tell for the frame. I dont really understand the whole infinite upgrades thing. I dont think many of the voron specific upgrades can apply to this. Especially when we are talking about mods applying to the toolhead. No ability to do that without changing its propritary toolhead. Also i dont think case lights is really possible or purge bucket since those use standard 20x20 extrusions. Most mods do. I dont doubt a community will be grow around this and they might develop mods but right now it doesnt exist.
Why did you not bash this with a hammer multiple times or drop on the floor, like other reviewers? They did that btw. I am Very excited for the future of Sovol now.
Oh BOY are there gonna be in bees in bonnets after this video title 🤣 But, I feel you, and I'm very happy to see that you and I got to the same conclusions on a lot of different things, because I really, really respect your opinion. I'm not entirely sure who this printer is for-- If I want an out-of-the-box working printer, I go with Bambu or Creality. Maybe even Qidi. If I want a self-built Voron, why not build an actual Voron?
Brutal honesty, more content creators should so that. How bad a job would it be to handle a clog on this printer? Have an upgraded Ender 3 Pro with DD and an skr Mobo, want a 'new generation" printer (finally all the brands are producing better printers instead of just nee iterations of clones) but I'm still holding back on goin the Bambu path..
@@LoyalMosesLike cars we should still be able to see what kind of performance we can expect though.
Glad it was helpful! Yes they have an enclosure!
A big thing to mention is this printer is open source. Hardware and software. You can remake any component on this printer just like on a voron.
Good point.
They even had a coupon code for $449! Insane how much pricing has changed over the years! Love it!
I have been wanting to build a Voron. The build looked like a lot of fun but I know that when I got to the programing portion and tweaking I would have given up, just no patience for that. I am seriously looking at the SOVOL SV08 now.
It's a great machine, especially for those where time is a factor.,
Got it, get a Noctua for the PSU. Check!
Where there is a will, there is a way! But, I totally know what you mean!
Great video - subscribed! How is the extruder for flexibles? How slow a speed is needed? Any word from sovol to fix the bed adhesion? Are files forced to go thru their servers in China or are files local and private?
We have another video coming where we'll cover more fun things with it, but we tested TPU and it ran great!
Also, thank you!
Do you think it will ever have IDEX or toolchanging - a la Voron Family?
I doubt officially, but that’s the great thing about linux and the open system. If someone wants to implement IDEX, it’s completely doable.
I'm getting one!!! lol first upgrade aluminum parts in place the injected molded!
Nice!
Great video! Waiting for the Bambi A1 to return because I have had my eye on it for a while, but this one has got me tempted to hold off on that haha
A lot of us are waiting for that A1 to come back in stock!
@@LoyalMoses reckon If I miss out on the first round of A1’s when they return, might have to lean on the SV08!
I still print on it .. sometimes maybe there will be a new bed coming .. but i have the cable helper printed on it and
a smoke alarm near it :)
Anyway , i also had no visible deforming at the area of the cable.
I print actually on it with 0,6mm nozzle.
But i also ordered a SV08 for 450€
It was around 449$ plus 10$ delivery, but the Euro exchange got it back to 450,87€
I have a bambu lab P1S and i love it, but wow if this was out at the time i probably would have looked into this machine.
Cool!
I like it good price solid frame good parts nice video
Thank you!
Is there any whispers for a sovol 8 multi filament upgrade? I am trying to tick off too many boxes for my printer. Thank you!
Did you see their Co-Print announcement?! It was on Twitter yesterday! Exciting!
Can it print abrasives? In other words, are those nozzles hardened steel or just coated brass?
Like with any 3d printer they are consumables. So just buy a pack of hardened ones. 🤷♂️ And while you ae at it get some 0.6 too if you want to print faster and some 0.2 if you want to print more finer details.
It can print abrasives.
@@LoyalMoses thank you. What material are those nozzles? Hardened steel?
would like to ask what fan does it use for power supply?. size ? and voltage ? i get it that it is the loudest thing on printer.
then SV08 should be equipped with TMC 2209's, and I use those myself at 1.15V, where they're dead silent.
Cool!
Oh god not the dice! Those poor well modeled dice!
Truth be told, it reminds me a bit of me first printer, the ender 3, at the time I would -of course- have preferred to start with a Prusa, sure, but didn't have the money in my pocket and was a bit shy of building a printer from ground. Ok, I've never reached the level of quality offered by Prusa (not that far away though) but I had a lot of fun, learned all the basics, it served me well for two years and has now found a new happy home since I invested in a biqu B1 and a tronxy crux 1(one other hobbiist lesson I've learned over time always have at least 2 printers, 1 stock and one to tinker with ;-))
Then is the sovol an affordable version of the Voron 2.4, absolutely not!! Can it be the best place to start playing with core XY, I sure hope so, if it respect its open source promise.
Then my best wish would be that one of the first mod for the SV08 would be a solution to integrate the stealthburner to replace the propriatary extruder ;-)
Interesting points! Thank you!
Good sponsored video
It’s an awesome video! 💜
Managed to Bag one of these in the UK 🙂
CONGRATS!!!
@@LoyalMoses cheers buddy, always enjoy your videos, keep up the great content 👍🏻
Thank you!
How is it going? I’m thinking sbout getting one.
My SV06+ had a terrible PEI build sheet. Once I got a new sheet my issues with bed adhesion went away. I am guessing they are using the same supplier of PEI sheets for this build too.
Glad that you got that fixed!
price already went up. hope plenty got it at the low price. looks like it can be a great machine with a few of the bads fixed
Prices were so good!
Got mine in the first 500 at $449 and free shipping
Congrats!!!
Dude, the crying face, instant subscriber!!!
💜
I think large aux interfaces are better addons. If you want one you can have one and move it between machines depending on which your fussing with at any particular moment. I'd personally rather control it from my phone.
Great points!
Could you please compare the SV08 Vs the SV07 Plus upgraded with linear rails?
That would be cool if I ever do upgrade it!
I’m two months into trying to figure out my first printer. I’m leaning towards the p1p or this. Any advise? Please? This has been the hardest decision on a product I have ever made.
The P1P has the immediate availability for multi-color and also, the out of box quality on the P1P will likely be better.
Done. Thanks bud, love your vids. Keep up the great quality of content.
Love the Napster t-shirt
Thanks!
Got one, and there's a $50 discount site wide.
Congrats! ! !
There will be an sv08 "pro" with fixes for some of the gripes.(a tap probe would instantly fix the offset problem for example.
Cool
Leaving in a 70% @30C RH country your shelves of exposed filaments gives me anxiety 😥
haha! I bet! We are very lucky to have low humidity up here on the mountain!
Isn't the QIDI Q1 Pro a better value due to the fact it comes with a heated enclosure?
Oh! That’s a good comparison! Hmn
if i need prebuilt, i will go for bambu
Super popular!
Voron is a thing that people are proud of making, and it gives them trememdous satisfaction. They hate this sort of thing. No effort. P.S. I just bought one.
Congrats!!!
Am I able to put usb drive in and print? Or do I have to have some sort of Wi-Fi Set up.
Absolutely! Wifi is not required.
Do you plan to do a review of the Troodon 2.0?
Possibly if they send one over
I’m back and forth between this and k1 max.
Tough choices in 3D printers right now!
Maaaaan, now I gotta find and buy a Napster t-shirt…
Do it! I've been on a retro/nostalgic kick for a bit, really miss those days.
Same! Got into restoring handhelds somehow. Just something about holding an old gameboy brings me back!
Hi there and Thank you for this Video.
You covered alot but i searched the total Measurments on the Web and found nothing..
I’ll have to go measure it!
I think it will only increase the relevance of Voron, especially in markets like India, where sourcing the components is near to next impossible or way too expensive!
interesting
@@LoyalMoses We typically end up paying around 35% more i.e a voron 2.4 mid tier printer build is $2384! Which is way out of the budget for 99.98% of Indians. Spares become another nightmare. Customs processing for Chinese imports are a nightmare.
Sovol has a direct dealer and their pricing is competitive. We are waiting for the SV08.
I do have a question, is the build plate spring steel?
👍
To be clear, adaptive mesh is part of klipper now
Not enabled in every implementation, several Klipper machines here where it’s not used.
Can a Bambu Lab hotend be installed in that toolhead? It seems to have similar mounting screws.
Could you please check? It would be fantastic if it fits, especially since there are third-party Bambu hotends with high flow capabilities.
I don’t believe so.
Cheap to call it a Voron.
Can you post likes to the top 10 upgrades for this printer, since it's "infinitely upgradable".
By your logic, nearly every printer is infinitely upgradable
Did you forget how to design, adapt or mod?
All of a sudden people have forgotten the mantra of “I can make that” and “I can mod that” 🤦♂️
I bought one, Voron next on line.
Congrats!
will the sovol mk8 nozzles work on the sv08?
Ya know, I'll have to go grab some of those out of the bin and look.
Ordered one on April 20 and I still haven't gotten it yet.
People are just now showing pics of them arriving! So they are working on it.
Second since BuildersMark was first 😭
Nice!
Why did you not bash this with a hammer multiple times or drop on the floor, like other reviewers? They did that btw. I am Very excited for the future of Sovol now.
Really?! Wow! Me too, stoked about what Sovol is doing!
Oh BOY are there gonna be in bees in bonnets after this video title 🤣
But, I feel you, and I'm very happy to see that you and I got to the same conclusions on a lot of different things, because I really, really respect your opinion. It's a great printer, even if it's not "a real voron" 🙄
Keep up the good work bro
hehe! Thanks brother!
What about the Troodon 2 Pro? It was before the Sovol SV08.
01:36 😁
@@LoyalMoses That goes by so fast. Have you looked at the Formbot Troodon 2 Pro yet?
respect that you actually know what youre talking about. love my comgrow robo router. modified the bejeezus out of it. Grabbed the sv08 with panels for 599, which was the 449 price. basically i bought it for msrp with free enclosure babeeee. dude already made klicky work for it, printing now
Congrats! Awesome you got the panels! Totally jealous! I don't have them! Thank you! ! !
Very nice helmet class + machine.
Indeed it is!
I'm not entirely sure who this printer is for-- If I want an out-of-the-box working printer, I go with Bambu or Creality. Maybe even Qidi. If I want a self-built Voron, why not build an actual Voron?
Thanks for sharing!
Prusa mk4 is waaaay to expensive anyway.
This one in the vid seems awesome and affordable..
It’s pretty straight forward to open up and get to, so I think jams and clogs would be simple to fix. I didn’t experience one, it ran really well.
@@LoyalMoses okay nice. Is the wiring just going around bare metal corners?
With the vibrations and time I'd suspect cut isolation/shielding on the wiring....?
hows the follow up video?
The only impact it will have on the Voron community is it will drive more to build their own, and anger the fan boys
Fantastic point - lots more people will want to learn to tinker.
@@LoyalMoses I don’t understand those that 3D print and don’t tinker. 99% of what I print is self designed. This is the way
what type is the nozzle is it hardend so one can print with corbon filament
You can definitely print abrasives with it.
I think lately Prusa might be sweating bullets now with all the new stuff coming out how can they keep up
This is a tough market right now for sure!
Print a second battle benchy for testing the turrets
haha
I say turn the turrets. What's the worst that happen (you have glue). 😃
I gave them a pretty good crank and they didn't turn! Any more and they'll snap!
lovely printer but i'll wait to see any bugs (like every other sovol release) lol
There are a few quirks, but nothing that was too serious.
i ordered week ago Kingroon KLP1-230...🙄😬next printer def
The 230 just showed up here last week!
