I know you can do better in next video ;-) but OMG, borrow that sweet, sweet enraged rabbit carrot feeder from your Voron, and show us how to connect it to Sovol SV08. Eddy current probe is ok, but multi material printing will be golden.

it happens but like every movie that ends with a cliffhanger the eventual ending will be worth while. (PS Looking to use an Eddy on an upgraded SV05 I been modding using a BTT Pi4B and H2V2S extruder....BTT is legit getting my cash for gear!)

Bro its all about the journey. The big Takeaway is not that problems occurred and that solutions weren't instantly readily at hand in zero time and effort.
but rather you had the luxury of doing the craziest most amazing mods imaginable and its all 100% possible with a bit of patience and a bit more care. Its normal for an electronics noob to let the magic smoke out of a few things but its school fees and that's how you learn and improve.
There are 2 types of viewers. The ones who want everything polished and perfect. And the real hackers.
This video was raw and authentic. Stop apologizing just man up and do what you want. Its your channel. Own it.

On the one hand, thank you for all the input you gave to Sovol to help address early production bugs and your efforts to upgrade will certainly come in handy down the road. On the other hand however, I've been waiting almost three weeks and still haven't received a shipping notification, let alone the actual printer, so maybe if you don't distract Sovol engineers with optional upgrade questions they might be able to get some printers shipped, lol. But seriously, thank you for all the time and effort you've put into this and you're probably, maybe. most likely not responsible for any shipping delays, lol. Thank you for the excellent content. @@thenextlayer I didn't get in time for the super early bird special so there's at least 800 people ahead of me, and if they have to go back and upgrade the machines they already had built, I'm not too surprised by the wait. I’ve been on and off watching your channel for awhile and TBH it often feels like you half ass these projects, printer reviews, and in general most of your content. You decide half way through your metrics, views, and sponsors are more important than your content quality, give a lame excuse, and then hand wave the parts you didn’t bother with. I get that you have a business to run, but I feel there are other channels that handle these situations better and honestly do it less often. I’ll stick around for now as a subscriber to see how you improve as the channel grows, but this has been something that bothers me about your content for quite awhile now.

i think he mention the things that arent good, he doesnt hide them.
Also he is a 3d printing enthusiast so is normal that even if a machine lacks something in the end he will be happy.
the thing is that he say whats wrong about the product very clearly and then the review goes on with his opinions.

@@damianomotta1809 In this video specifically there are more than a few examples. Like instead of modeling the mount for the BTT sensor he just glued it in place, instead of fixing the feet they cut them in half and said F it, instead of running canbus they hacked in a USB cable, instead of talking about replacing the display he just dropped in sponsor click bait for the new BTT klipper display, instead of modeling a new tool head cover he literally just chopped it up with a dremel wheel, instead of talking about a better silent electronics fan people could purchase and using a link he just dropped in some junk he had around, his revo hotend mount wasn’t finished but instead of waiting for the replacement he just drilled into it and said it will be fixed later. All throughout he name dropped sponsor after sponsor who paid for all the stuff and paid him to make the video. This is just this one video, but honestly he does it in all of them.

For now, I'm sticking with upgrading my existing MK3S+ up to current specs as I can afford it (just ordered the 3.5 kit). However, this printer looks really attractive as a next printer purchase. I'm sure by the time I get around to actually purchasing one, many of these issues will be resolved. My ender 3 pro is a jumbled mess right now until I get it configured properly then I'll go back and redo the wiring to be more "polished" haha. It's just nice to see a professional content creator doing it too. Too often do we just get a cut of the finished project and not the nitty gritty goodness in between. I love my sv08 for the money it has been great, I did get the super early bird price. I also have found that if I preheat the bed, home it and drop the print head down to 2mm from the bed and let it heat soak for a bit before printing I have had really good first layers so far. I would like to be able to use my diamond back nozzles on it or get a higher flow hotend as it has more than enough speed and size to take advantage of higher flow rates, but I am spoiled with my modified flsun super racer with a goliath hotend on it haha.

If you're happy with what 80 out of 100 other people get then good, have at it. Any fan, especially that loud being on 24/7 was a terrible decision.I saw another review the other day and the SV08 they bought has QA issues with the side metal frame pieces that screw into the bottom so sounds like it either slipping through QA or they were just trying to get orders out. You should homes6ask BIQU what it would take to work if am internal MQTT server on something like Home Assistant.
The screen is great but the one downside is since it works over WiFi, probably using MQTT, they lag a little. I got an XTouch on my PS1 and works the same way so just something to know for anyone interested.
I agree, the proprietary hot ends were a bad idea.I already know the Swiss3Dc Starlex DHB hotend will work but it's still preorder only. Unique system. With a CHR Bambu heatsink it will work with P1S/X1 using the DHB 24, 24mm of melting zone. They have different lengths, super suick nozzle change and can super dual ceramic heaters. Will work with any printer that has a heat since with uoword screw at the bottom, with an adapter for.precie length. 22, 24, 28, and 32mm were the options. The design is pretty ingenious IF it works as advertised. Downside is no preorder price listed yet.
FYI, DFORCE trianglab has an 80W ceramic heater heater/thermistor for X1/1, so if this is JST it would work also.
I hope it succeeds because places like DFORCE and Mellow makes a lot of custom parts for printers that sell.well, like the Endor 3(insert version here). With this being.opem source, would make it really easy for them to do so it's something you could upgrade over time if you don't have the money now, but will.down the line. Obviously it has to sell well for them to.makw.money doing so.
I would LOVE to see you build a VZBot kit from Mellow 3D. The Goliath hot end is insane,, especially if you water cool it which is primarily for heat cream if I'm not mistaken. Might as well water cool the stepper motors also as they can get to 80C or above.
It's basically a Voron on steroids created by the VZbot team which I believe is around 10 people. It's all open source so no kit needed but I've seen it so 2000ms/s and get over 80mm/s volumetric rate and 20000mm/s travel speed from corner to corner. All for the price of a X1 with AMS. Minus the 40 hour assembly and printing parts for it.

I just got my SVß9 and the Revo coldend last week.
The coldend still has some problems due to the (missing) precision of aluminium printing. The bore at the top you added is still about 0.1 to low in diameter, so I had to drill it bigger a bit. The hole above the Revo nozzle where you place a short piece of tube into also lacks about 0.1mm in diameter, I used a 4mm drill to smothen out the inside of the hole.
However, after this postprocessing the inner hole of the nozzle and the tube do not match up perfectly. They seem off by maybe 0.1mm. This does not effect printing, but sometimes loading the filament it struggles there. Might not be optimal for an ERCF.
At the moment I use a standard heater core and a standard 0.4mm nozzle, so I have to reduce flow in slicer. A high flow Revo 0.4mm ObXedian is on the way. 0.4 and 0.6 mm high flow should work with a 40W heater core; 0.8 and bigger should use 60W. However, I do not use big nozzles often, so I might simply print slower.
One big advanced of Revo is the 0.4 mm standard flow nozzle leaves a very nice filament tip (if filament is dry) and can be reliable loaded again (yes, even with my post-processing problem mentioned above). So using the Revo standard nozzle a filament changer does not need cut&poo, wich reduces over all printing time and waste on multicolour prints. So if I use an ERCF later, for multicolour I could use a standard Revo, printing slower but due to faster filament changes with abou the same or even faster over all printing time, while using a Revo high flow for single colour prints.

@@thenextlayer Do not missunderstand - it works well, just the "normal" postprocessing needed on printed aluminium parts. I realy like the design and be happy with the upgrade. Of course pcbway spends more time on postprocessing if sending an example to a youtuber than to a normal customers. postprocessing isn´t a big deal - it´s quite normal to do the "polishing" yourself, like using a drill to "polish" the holes inside to make the rough surface better. Also I used a cheap clone nozzle to clean up the inside of remaining aluminum dust.
So it is not hard to do - but in your video you obviously got an already more "finished" product.

The one thing that should be stressed is, to get the proper version of this, you need to get the enclosure as well. Its beyond idiotic to offer an "open framed" core X/Y printer these days, especially if its built on a 2.4 frame. So while the printer is cheaper without the enclosure, the ACTUAL cost of the printer is about $750 with the enclosure. Then its basically a 2.4 in all but name only, with its parts list fully posted, mods for it will be just as easily made as they are for the 2.4 itself. Many mods should be very easy conversions to work for the SV08 that came from or are from the 2.4. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Stealburner conversion for the hotend soon, since it already runs CAN-BUS the mod should be fairly straight forward short of adapting how it mounts to the gantry.
For inductive probe, if you can, do NOT home with that and try to use the physical sensor on the back for your Z home. The Inductive probe will ALWAYS drift, and if you must use it as your Z home, then you will need to go into the Printer.cfg to fix this. Under the Probe section in the printer.cfg file you will find a setting for the tolerance of the probing, usually set at .05. This is too much leeway and is the root cause of the Z drifting, so a simple decrease of it to .02 instead and increase the number of samples to 3 (if not already) or 5 (which is max). This will ensure better Z homing and minimize the drift as much as possible. My guess is Sovol already did this with a firmware update, but really you can just do it yourself.
I have done this myself with both of my Neptune 4 Max printers that, unfortunately, also use an inductive probe to home Z. After adjusting that tolerance in the config file, many issues with inconsistent Z homing heights were fixed.
There is a reason that even with a stock Voron 2.4, that there is a physical Z endstop at the back corner of the printer, because the inductive probe is not reliable enough for this.
So its not running mainline Klipper? The fuck? If you can, rip that shit out and install mainline klipper, it is beyond stupid, that companies "make their own version" of Klipper, blocking users from being able to update it themselves......

Have had a modded sv07plus since day one, I have found nothing proprietary from Sovol in Klipper itself and have uninstalled and reinstalled using Kiauh without any issues.
I believe they did obfuscate the update button in mainsail but after helping 100s of people in the Facebook group this is a good thing for novice users. You should easily be able to update Klipper using SSH and add any missing features.
As for the z-offset and probe, the Z-offset will never change it’s the probe inductive probe tolerance that is the issue. But with proper pre-heat of bed and probe and upping the probe count you can get very nice 0.2mm first layers.

I bought an X1 Carbon about 3 months ago having waited over a year for the kinks to be ironed out, I have used my X1C and AMS a lot, I realised the other day that I was missing modding my printers, the only mods I have left to do are Mercury 1.1 mods to 2 Ender 5 Plus machines that are already highly modded, in fact the only Creality parts left are the frame and the motion system I just realised I could sell my 2 Ender 5 Plus printers and buy a couple of SV08.

What type of themperature sensor the SV08 use? I did a Revo upgrade on my Qidi X-max 3 and wondered why the themerature not being sensed. Actually I did not shortened anything - the Xmax simply uses a thermocouple instead of a thermistor. I simply added an old creality silent board flashed to klipper to ad an thermistor input, added two cables on the chain from the printhead to the creality board, and edit a few lines in the firmware. Worked well.
So it might be interesting to find out if the board actually realy was shortened or simply a different type of temperature sensor is used.
Edit: It uses a normal therimistor, so the next layer realy shortend the board.

It would be nice to have the option of getting different trim levels of SV08:
level 1: what you get now @ $579, it's going to do it's job, but you won't necessarily like it, if you actually use it often, you will be annoyed and highly motivated to upgrade parts
level 2: you get carefully selected, still economical, but good quality components such as quieter fans @ $650, you actually like it
level 3: advanced, excellent components @ $900, you love it, little is left to upgrade, aimed at print-and-forget crowd, no trial and error tinkering necessary
I think manufacturers probably would be surprised at how many people will choose the middle variant and how few will change the level 1. Of course for the manufacturers, it's impossible to tell the truth like: with level one you get cheapest of the cheap parts, if we have a choice of a loud fan for $7 or a much quieter fan for $8, you will get the loud fan, because it's cheaper. I really, really, don't want to get a cheap as hell Ford pinto and then upgrade it into a reliable, quiet, pleasant, powerful and refined car. But they have competition to consider and price is king, right? Let's hope this will change.

@thenextlayer hey, is the BTT screen you used the panda touch with different firmware installed? I remember seeing BTT say that the Bambu screen and Klipper screen will both be interchangeable by just swapping the firmware on the device. I got a panda when they first launched, and haven't updated the firmware for it yet even, so I've been pretty let down about its functionality. And now that the latest Bambu firmware apparently bricked the functionality of all aftermarket interfaces (panda, xtouch, home assistant, etc), I'm thinking putting it to use on my SV08 once it arrives ("mid-June" for Canada 🙄) would be the best use for it.
