I appreciate the review. Wild Dunes is a resort that gets mentioned a lot in Hyatt discussion groups, but this is the first review I've seen on it. While Globalist status is supposed to be recognized everywhere, some hotels aren't as good as others - but breakfast and valet only can make it worthwhile. When I stayed at the Thompson in DC for 4 nights, I saved over $800 that way - I was traveling with whole family. If you use that FNA in Orlando, you should consider the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress over the Hyatt Regency Orlando

You are lucky. I just got Explorist status and find that it is really nothing at all. No real upgrades at all. But I do laugh at the $50 breakfast voucher. Go overseas and get a full buffet breakfast for $0 no matter how expensive it is. But if you are overseas, eating the local breakfast is often the better idea, so the voucher kind of remains unused (for me) if I do get Globalist.
Oh absolutely, basically all the statuses do nothing for Hyatt until Globalist for sure.
But I hear you for sure and will experience that way more when I go abroad I’m sure, really excited for the local food etc vs hotel.

I think the major brands do, but really seems like these destination or privately owned ones have way less consistency. As Chris Wright said.

I haven't stayed at a Hyatt before and this does not leave me warm and fuzzy.
I will say in defense, every other Hyatt I’ve been too have been very good. This was the first that the service was ehhh, property was still very nice though.

@@AnthonyVenture It is kinda funny that everyone talks about how much better Globalist is than anything out there. Yet - when a bunch of you dudes used the Guest of Honor Globalist ALL the experiences were pretty much terrible.
@@jimmyjames6492 Hhaha it happens. I would have ended up using it at a Cat 8 and probably would have had a better experience for sure, but didn’t want to lose it either.
I’m sure I’ll have some better experiences as I use it more, but best service has been FHR hands down.
One of the benefits of being a Globalist is having a concierge who can inform properties that you will be arriving.
Ahh yes, I didn’t think to do that but I probably should have tried honestly, I wonder if Guest Of Honors can do that?

Anthony if you're going to Orlando, checkout Hyatt Grand Cypress. Nice property. Hyatt Regency Orlando on Internacional Drive is busy with Convention Center next door.

So sounds like the Hudson Market is NOTTT it haha. The breakfast at Coastal Provisions looked awesome though! Very true though that we are all so privileged to be offsetting all these great experiences with points (like you talked about in the parting message), when very likely 95%+ of other people are paying out of pocket. Service can make or break a place. Sucks that this was your first look at a globalist. I have never stayed at a Hyatt but what I have seen from some other creators it’s depends on the property on the type of service received.
Yep absolutely 100%, this is my maybe 10th or more Hyatt stay this year, and the rest were amazing I think! This was the first that had low service for the category, but the property it last was very nice and fun.
Honestly we will be back, but won’t expect anything other than the property itself hahaha.

I had planned to stay here in December of 2022 to use the Hotel Collection credit. My car blew up on the way, so I didn't make it, but it seems like I didn't miss too much.
I am curious about the difference in upgrades from Amex vs Globalist though.

It happened to me 2 times with Hyatt, one in the US and the other in South Korea, Jeju. I even called Hyatt Line and told my complaint about my status not being granted and never heard from hyatt Customer Service or an email. I canceled the card. Never I had stayed in a Hyatt since 2020. If you don't have globalist, don't even bother staying. Unless it is a cheap price compared to other hotel chains, go for hyatt. Just my opinion 🤷

I wonder if we just never noticed if service is good or not since yes, maybe a lot of us stay at an only 1-4 cat Hyatts etc so don’t expect that.

Being a Hyatt Discoverist status myself, something i learned today after checking out hyatt house (Category 3 hotel). I got comped for parking which is sort of surprising to me.

Hi Anthony! Nope, It’s very rare to get comped parking for being Discoverist. I typically get charged for daily parking at most Hyatt hotels. I really don’t know how I got it. But I’m guessing showing kindness to the front desk lady can go a long way. It was the same lady that checked me in as well. I probably reminded her for being a Discoverist status member and requested a late 2pm check-out. Generally speaking, most hotels should acknowledge your status with their hotel loyalty program during check-in process. She forgot to acknowledge and was being apologetic which then lead me to the free comped parking. It could be that reason or the frequency of staying at this specific hotel. It was my 3rd time staying there. 😅

Sounds like your Globalist experience was lackluster and not positive at this Hyatt property. Curious why you had to write on receipt "Globalist Tip included "? Wouldn't they know that? 🤔
So if they were a more “mainstream brand” like Andaz, Park Hyatt etc, they’d have already had it written most likely, but each place is different.
But if not, Shaun taught me to write it like that and they’ll get their 18% tip.
But this place, ehhh, they didn’t really care that much about globalist. They gave the vouchers for breakfast but that’s about it.
