I've got a timeshare. I enjoy using it and it adds to my credit card point usage. However, they are not for everyone. I do also at times wonder, if I put all I've spent on the timeshare into something like Bask Bank to earn points from savings, what would come out better in the end. The same reservation costs the same number of points every time. The points technically don't devalue. What changes is the maintenance fees for those points. Those do go up. The last step the offered was then trying to rent the timeshare to you for a year.
@@PsychoGilgamesh wouldn't it just be cheaper to pay individually for a vacation anytime you want to go anywhere? Timeshare locks you into the same place forever
@@Smart_ThinkI went through a Hilton presentation and they do things differently. You’re purchasing a place which gives you points every year. You can save them up and bank them. You can use them to go to different places and nicer properties if you choose. I went last year when I was 20 and the the sales person was confused as to how I even got there lmao. But I was just there for free points. Definitely not for everyone but for Hilton specifically it might make sense for others.
@@Smart_Think.....your deed is at a location. The points can be used just about anywhere Hilton Grand Vacations has a property and you have enough points. You have to know how you and your family travels. LEARN how the program works!!!
I went to that hotel for the concrete convention. Didn’t even know that was a timeshare place. Nice hotel. The room I got had two separate bedrooms with living in middle full kitchen, it was awesome! Not kitschy. BBQed by the pool, it was great! I’m thinking about doing the Orlando one, there are a lot of nice pools at grand vacations. I’ve done a few with other brands. Wyndam does the points spiel too.
We have a HGVC timeshare and the problem is availability during holidays is really bad. It gets booked up and you can’t get anything when you want to travel.
Timeshares are something I will never attend. The potential idea of making my mood very sour on time I would be relaxing and having no pressure on me makes me disgusted. If the Timeshare presentation gave me straight cash of like $1000, then I'd do it.
Yeah it’s not for everyone to take advantage of, I went in knowing I’ll have a video to create and to have fun with it, knowing I was getting 100k pts. But I get the headache too. Thanks Mr. Sleepy Head!
Its been a while, and im fuzzy on the details, but there are only so many Disney points per resort. If they raise the points needed for Christmas they must lower them somewhere else. So a 1br at 20pts per night in 1999 is still about 20pts per night. BUT buying in has gotten more expensive. In 1999 you probably could have bought into DVC for about $75 a point. Its now about $150+. Maybe 200? Don't know if Hilton works like Disney. Disney certainly doesnt do that high pressure sales.
@@AnthonyVenture and course maintenance fees go up with inflation and Florida insurance costs. Disney has no shortage of people looking to buy in. If you use it enough it's a good deal. You can use your points at Disney or trade them to some other non-Disney timeshares/hotels.
Timeshares are for the individuals that choose to travel a lot and have the money to purchase the time share versus financing it. The interest rate is too high and not to mention the cost of other living expenses
Long post……So yeah, the one thru Hilton is not bad ! But you have to make sure it thru Hilton, me and my wife took the one thru Hilton a couple years ago, went just like this. They called us back up last year but be aware ! Because another timeshare used the Hilton hook to make us think it was thru Hilton, we took the Hilton Head, SC one. Only to find out when we got there that it was a subsidiary to Hilton, Spinnaker. It was absolute trash, we had like 200k points from our Hilton awards and ended up using them to stay at Hilton grand resorts but still had to go to Spinnaker presentation which was trash. So if they call you back to take another one. Make sure it’s thru Hilton and not a Hilton subsidiary!
It’s worth it if you buy resale. You could also convert your grand vacation points to Hilton Honors points, which can sometimes be a good deal. You can also access RCI.
That seemed like something they couldn’t tell us, so wait, you can convert your HGV Points to Hilton? What’s the ratio?? Thanks Zenichiro for that, that’s interesting!
@@AnthonyVenture yes mine are 32:1 but some are 16:1 depends on where you own. Still not a great value. My maintience fees are $1200 per year for 11500 points. So to convert it would be 368k HH
@@AnthonyVenture it’s like buying points. It can be, 368,000 Hilton Honors points would be worth approximately 0.326 cents per point if they are valued at $1200 per year maintience fee. The 16 to 1 conversion is not since it would be 184000 HH or .652 cents per point.
@@Zenichiro ahh so at 1 to 32 it makes sense, that’s better than buying points even on the double offer, but I heard from someone earlier that, that conversion only exists for timeshares in NY? Any merit to that? Otherwise they said everyone else is 1 to 16 etc.
They still make money or break even on the timeshare presentations. Their marginal cost for a room even on a weekend in Vegas isn’t really that high (although they do give up some money on the opportunity cost). The only way they lose money is if literally nobody attends the presentation and they can’t get the rooms booked out. But the points are too juicy to say no (I’m sure they get insane discounts from Hilton).
Nah man, you were way more detailed haha. However I do think we thought different parts of the timeshare were more interesting; goes to show we are two different people with two different perspectives.

I just don't see it being worth a time shares to pre pay for vacations with all that interest and maintenance fees yearly. Once u pay for it u miss out on all the deals and sales that u can get normally all over the world. And 1 week 10000 points in 2 years might cost 12500 points.. then maybe the weeks and rooms u want are already taken unless u booked it months in advance.... with all those fees and monthly paymens u can just buy a 2 bedroom condo in a vacation place that u can abnb when ur not there and make it an investment

@brandonunruh1822 wow. And not to mention u can only stay at one location. But back in the day timeshares were the thing. Now with internet and access to so many hotels and airbnb, they dont make sense and you cannot get out of it bc nobody wants to buy them
Ive seen timeshares they givong away for free bc they dont want to keep paying the fees yearly anymore
Thanks for sharing!
@@Smart_Think And I didn’t even mention that every year I go they try to get me to do another presentation to convert my current contract into the new ownerships “point system” which of course requires more money. It’s a racket man. I believe they are all. Some are just worse than others.
So many for a studio, so many for 1-bed room 2-bed room, 3-bed, penthouse, etc. We've gone to some GREAT locations and our deed is in Hawaii Big Island. You have to know how you and your family travels. LEARN how the program works!!!
Yeah I’m not doing another timeshare presentation. Was duped into one and never again. It was an inquisition when I told them I wasn’t interested.
Oh dang Artist! It happens to the best of us for sure but I hear you!
Thanks for being here man!
And you haven't tell, that there is a cost every single year for your membership!
Agreed!
Yes I can see that, very misleading. Buy in price just heavily inflated now I guess.
Thanks Marzan for being here and for that insight!
@@AnthonyVenture and course maintenance fees go up with inflation and Florida insurance costs. Disney has no shortage of people looking to buy in. If you use it enough it's a good deal. You can use your points at Disney or trade them to some other non-Disney timeshares/hotels.
That makes sense for sure, and especially for Disney folks, it can be valuable I think as you said!
Timeshares are for the individuals that choose to travel a lot and have the money to purchase the time share versus financing it. The interest rate is too high and not to mention the cost of other living expenses
Just buy resale and get one for pennies on the dollar.
Ohhhh very good tip! Thanks for sharing that and I will carry that wisdom going forward! 🫡
Thanks Nightmare!
That’s actually really really crazy woah. Hmm, I wonder if that’d be worth it over the HGV points 🤔
@@AnthonyVenture it’s like buying points. It can be, 368,000 Hilton
Honors points would be worth approximately 0.326 cents per point if they are valued at $1200 per year maintience fee.
I ain't going to a damn timeshare. My time is worth more than that bullshit, bro
Yeah you get a free trip and just say no

"My Friend"... I just knew you looked familiar! LOL Glad I caught this Part 2 (Part 1?).
😂 haha right! Thanks Larry!
Nah man, you were way more detailed haha. However I do think we thought different parts of the timeshare were more interesting; goes to show we are two different people with two different perspectives.
Absolutely haha, I told you that man!! And nah, you were more detailed 😂
I did the timeshare thing, same location back in January. I did the meeting with a mad hangover.
Hahaha I’m sure the whole room was spinning Credit Nomad 😂
Can’t wait to go to one to get a cheap stay and some free points 👍🏼👍🏼 gonna call in my next Hilton reservation for next month and hope they offer to transfer me to their line.

But the English lady sounds funny hahaha.

Just got the Vegas one in my inbox, I may have to go for it
don't do it!
I would honestly because I’m thinking about doing it this guy made it seem like it’s no big deal just 1hr and 30 min isn’t too bad I guess and then you get to have the whole rest of the trip to yourself

Great information. I’ve been wondering about this as I also see these offers.
Thank you Shawn! I had a fun time honestly haha.
We took advantage on one of these in Hawaii! Just signed up for another one! Easy points
That’s what you would call a, “ah TOO EASY” haha!
Glad you got out and became all the wiser they are known to be quite the financial scam the prices lure you in.
Absolutely Shawn, that’s very true. Thanks man for being here!
Nice video Anthony. IMO timeshare sales is very predatory , high presure and not worth being tied down to a property for your vacations. DVC might say otherwise😂
So about 3.5 hours for 100k Hilton points? Well, as long as you’re not being waterboarded I guess it’s worth it 🙂.
Also, if you never get time off from work, how did you have time to attend the presentation? She should have pressured you on that point 😄.
(Think you meant “it was a great wedding” not “it was a great marriage”, unless there’s news we’re missing 🙂)
Yes a great wedding 😂😂😂
Yeah that actually did come up, Calby said he only got off like 3 days a year, and someone said oh so these are your only days off right now huh?
And he said, “yeah it was tough” 😂
Thanks Qcman!
Went to two timeshire presentations. Both for whyndam. In atl. 1st one wasn't so bad. The second one is literally the worst experience in my life. The amount of lies and deceit was outrageous. On top of that, 3 sales people litterally followed me to my room at the hotel and harassed me and my fiancé. I pretty much told them very coldly. "If they dont step off in the next 5 seconds, the police were going to be called, their choice if they were going to be called by me or on me." they went away pretty quickly
Yeahhhh you told me about that, you had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever heard, that is so so crazy and sorry you had to go through it Woodzy.
I really appreciate your videos, your not only informative but very down to earth! Keep up the great work man and God bless!
Wow thank you for saying that! It really does mean a lot!
Thanks for being here Moutwtrng!
I want to go to one of these presentations, but the most I'm ever offered is 50,000 Hilton or IHG points. I don't want to go unless they offer more points than that
Yeah man it can be good! Hopefully they offer you more, however you actually can negotiate too.

hey did they try to force you to give your social security number and/or run a credit check as a condition of the offer?
Not at all, I bet some places do, but Hilton did not no.
When you and your friend sat with the closer lady did you two sit together?
Yes, we sat together the entire time actually. Surprised they let us haha.
I ended up getting one 7yrs ago.

You technically can call and negotiate a higher offer at times! But yeah that’s sort of low, I don’t blame you OVX!
It's the way I'd rather mattress run for status with my money than get a time share
Oh 100% agreed Gimmie!
So they said we have to stay there for a 2 hour tour. After the two hours can’t we just leave? They can’t take away the deal if they said it going to be 2 hours
Yes once that’s done and you signed your name that you were there, you can leave. You can also clarify with them that the timeshare is done as well.
@@AnthonyVenture what exactly is a timeshare?
@@thehadyca timeshare is where a company pretends to let you stay at a hotel and charges you tens of thousands
My brother in law is a Club Wyndham owner and he gets a lot of value from it, but he inherited it and didn't have to pay the upfront costs.
The offer I see only gives out 15k points, is there a trick to getting the 100k points offer?
Hey, just some advice don’t ever get a timeshare no matter what. You will be paying for that timeshare after you die. Your kids will be paying for that timeshare until they die. Don’t ever get one!
Can call up and negotiate a better offer technically. I have before.
And agreed, NEVER BUY! Ha

Let’s go King Nasir! Just say No! Haha!
One I went through last year, they gave me a free trip to Hawaii. I never used it because I didn't trust them.
You'd have gotten railroaded there too
The fact they talk in points is to clearly confuse people so they dont even realize how ripped off they are compared to just pay for a vacation
Absolutely man! Purchase price goes up, points stay the same. Very deceptive.
Thanks Smart Think!

Did you stick to 90 mins and dip or how long were you there?
I stuck for the full 90 minutes yes. If you dip out before you sign your name when you finish, they won’t give you the points and will upcharge the hotel costs.

So what did they say when you walked away? And was it awkward?
Nothing much, we all just went our separate ways so not awkward at all haha, basically just said ok thank you for being here etc, and then walked away. It wasn’t bad honestly.

@@AnthonyVenture okay I am going on one soon! and kind of scared so thank you.
