Elvis Presley was one of the main reason the Arizona memorial got built. He did a huge fundraiser back in the early 60's to help fund the construction.
Actually, it was Colonel Parker. He loved Hawaii and did whatever he could to tie Elvis to the place and giving him a free trip there on business. Parker came up with the idea for a memorial concert to help fund the place, then let Elvis know he was going to do the concert. It was his last concert until the Comeback (Singer) Special in 68. Elvis himself liked the islands and went there several times over the years. Important events in his personal life are tied to the place.
A JEWEL of a video by a tourist.. applaud you for what is shown here!
I am born and raised here on Oahu 65 years ago.
5 stars🤙
Thank you!
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip used to br able to go up Aloha Tower in their elevator to see the sights from the top but 9/11 changed that (though they should reconsider). There is a nightly luau on the grounds by Aloha Tower (hence all that party event items on the grounds).
Honolulu : hoe (like the garden tool)-kno-lou-lou). There is no 'a', so it must not be pronounced like the town of Hana (on Maui).
I was in Maui 27 years ago with my late husband and 3 teenage daughters. We rented like an apartment in Lanai and did alot of cooking in house because it was expensive to eat out. We ended up spending approximately $15,000 for ten days but it was the most wonderful vacation I've ever been on. I cried when Maui burned. Never got to see the Arizona memorial but I really want to. I have a second cousin at rest there.Glad your enjoying your visit.
Skip the car rental, get an unlimited bus pass. Go to the Goodwill near Pearlridge where you can buy brand new clothing from last year's supply. Eat at family restaurants at the edge of town. Same food. Leave your mainland luggage at home. If you want to see life in Hawaii, take the bus, meet the people and see the sights how everybody lives.
Yeaaahhh...best to rent the car.
Yeah, $120 for those meals sounds pretty ridiculous to me. They were more like appetizers; that wouldn't even fill me up. But then, $35 of that was for booze. That's another thing I wouldn't do.
I loved the bus when I was there! Takes you everywhere and the buses are clean and you must stay quiet.
There are other islands on Earth I would rather go to visit than Hawaiian islands at this point. I won't mention it since they are already being visited heavily from tourists by word of mouth and social media. Watter's World had an interesting video he posted recently about European cities that have been overwhelmed by tourists in the past couple years. I think the post COVID period we are in now has had a huge influence by youtube and such that has attracted tourists to specific places. I can only imagine right now in June 2024 that a place like Venice Italy or the Amafli coast or Mallorca is jammed packed at the moment.
The bus system is terrible in Hawaii. Don't be misleading.
Hi, Joe. There is a survivor's list of the USS Arizona on Wikipedia, and the last survivor just passed April 2024, Lou Conter, who was 102. Just an FYI. I looked it up because I love history.
Thanks, Joe and Nicole for showing me Honolulu, a place I will never see otherwise. Also for showing all the other states I will never see in person. ❤❤👍👍
Our pleasure!
😂
My, my how it's changed! I haven't been back for about 57 years. We were there for their first State Fair. The food was amazing even then. We stayed at the Outrigger right on the beach. Don Ho's place was busy all the time. He was there to welcome everyone. Thanks so much for the tour that brought back good memories. Nicole, you were ravishing in the yellow sundress. Keep having fun and I'll keep tagging along! Thanks.
You went when it was still pretty nice. I was a kid there in the 1960s, and went to the State Fair on Magic Island (it's actually a small peninsula) a couple of times.
My uncle was on the USS Oklahoma, he is the survivor on USS Oklahoma, the last, he will be 104 he lives alone... Oregon he lives , David Russell, that's my maiden name...❤😊
I used to live in Honolulu and other communities on the island. A tourist doesn’t get the picture of what it’s like to live there. Yes, you enjoy the beautiful weather and generally lovely environment but it’s a facade of everyday life which is a financial struggle for existence. The statistics you presented are misleading. Unless you’re in a high income bracket or are willing to accept a low standard of living, Paradise is not worth the cost. My wife and I both had professional jobs but we struggled to provide the basic necessities of life. We could not afford anything extra like dinner out occasionally. Purchasing a house or condo was impossible and rent absorbed most of our income. We couldn’t even afford an occasional trip to the mainland. The cost of groceries and other necessities is outrageous. Everyone in the local families work for low wages at multiple jobs. It’s a wonderful place to visit but not to stay. When we left Hawaii and returned to the mainland, our standard of living rose significantly and we now enjoy a comfortable retirement in the Chicago area. And there is something else nobody talks about publicly. There is discrimination everywhere against mainlanders. We never felt welcome or respected. Aloha
Nice things & nice places are expensive. So many people flock to California & complain how expensive it is & Florida is getting that way too. It stands to reason they're nice places. If I'm middle class & I'm looking for a car I don't go to a Mercedes dealership. Its a shame that people who are born there can't make it but you have to use it to you're advantage. You can't expect the government to pay you're way all you're life.
What advantage? 😂
Does “mainlanders” mean people from the mainland USA?
@@psychmr2365 Yes There is a very derogatory term that they use for mainlanders. I refuse to repeat it other than to say it’s the “H” word. It has nothing to do with race but it applies to anyone who comes from the mainland. I only felt comfortable around other mainlanders.
I spend a LOT of time in Hawaii. White af. I live near Chicago. I've never experienced outward racism. I know it exists but I've never had it. Best people in the country!
I went to elementary school in Honolulu and have been there numerous times since as my sister has lived there for over 30 years. It is very expensive regarding rent and food or any basic essentials and lacks having any seasons, every day is basically the same. Unless you like the beach there is not really much else once you have seen it all, which is quite easy considering it is an island. Maybe a nice place for a retired wealthy person, which I am not.
Our girls went to makaha elementary, my oldest came back over to teach there... for two years only. It was getting pretty bad
Go see that man, shake his hand, and tell him thank you
Love your Hawaii video. I was in Army for a year there 1966-67. Bring back memories. Nicole wear your flower in your hair on Left side if you are married or unavailable. Wear on right side if single and looking. Have an amazing time.
Which army?
I told her about the flower! :)
The style of the capital building is called Hakonya style, and was made to let the sun, wind, and rain in.
The homeless too?
@@TOCC50 yep drugs are bad for you
"capitol"
Sounds the opposite of “building” but ok
I love interesting architecture. Great information.
Nicole looks absolutely stunning, like a beautiful Hawaiian flower!
Can't stop thinking of the opening credits to Hawaii Five-O & the excellent theme by The Ventures ! 🌊
They might see Nick Johnson there
Don't forget the standard closing line "Book'em Dano--Murder One"
@@TOCC50He showed the bad part on his first video there.
Perhaps Peter Santenello is still there. His Everglades video was done in April so perhaps he may still be in Hawaii.
Me 2!😊🌊✈️🌴
I made my first visit there (as a 12 year-old) at the very end of 1979, and our family vacation timed it perfectly for a typhoon that kept knocking out power & flooding the streets. It was also an eye-opening experience when on our very first night we were walking by the International Market Place and a guy stopped us to ask my father if he needed to buy some weed 😆 (he passed on that, btw). As someone who loves old movie theaters I wish you could have seen the incredible one that was there - the Waikiki, which opened in 1936 and closed in 2002. I went to see the Steven Spielberg movie "1941" there, and it remains the most beautiful cinema I've ever been in - absolutely huge, with palm trees on either side of the screen. Back then my parents didn't mind heading off to see what they wanted to see while their youngest wandered around on his own 😊
I went to St. Louis High School in Honolulu in 1972-73, where I graduated from. Lots of fun things to do there, and around the island. I remember as a poor student oftentimes visting a small drive-in, in the vicinity of a Buddhist dormitory where they had the standard drive-in fare but also deep-fried mahi-mahi burgers, which I always got in addition to their version of ramen. At the time it was very affordable, and which I still remember as among the best meals I've ever had.
I went to Aliamanu Intermediate School......Junior High School back in 1972 - 1973 off of what was called Salt Lake Blvd in Honolulu as I lived nearby all 5 years there. Their version of Ramen I remember was sold as Simon noodles as I used to eat "S&S Super Simon Noodles back then....yum. We lived in a lower income area most of the time when we lived on Oahu back then. But will never forget my years there.
I grad 89....Kalaepohaku 4 Life
@@j.stormtracker4407 Not Simon, it's spelled saimin. The Japanese say there's actually a difference between ramen noodles and saimin noodles, but I don't know what the difference is. They taste the same to me.
Being a fan of the old Hawaii Five-O series I had to go to that palace and get some pictures of that. Also being a fan of I Dream Of Jeannie I had to get a picture of myself with King Kamehameha which she had blink back to life for a couple of hours. Fun fact the guy they got to play the King was Barbara Eden's husband.
He was also important in Star Trek. Lol.
The real beauty of Hawaìi is in it's people and their spirit of Aloha! I've lived in a few unique places in the USA, and i find Hawaii the most unique. It's growth and urbanization has changed much, however getting to know it's people will help you understand what i mean? It's why i chose to live the past 46 years here...and, and, and they would help you with pronunciations :) Have fun and....Aloha!
Yeah, I was shocked at the way he said King Kamehameha, and the names of a few other things. I’ve never been to Hawaii, but as old as he is, you’d think he’d have at least heard it before.
Really good tour, thank you. We started going (we're in Calif) about 20 years ago, however Hawaii is currently on pause because our dollars go farther in other places. We really like the gardens and museums (we're old, ha ha), and the warm weather, warm ocean and clean air. Plus each island feels very different. Oahu has all the services and the windward side feels kinda removed from it all. Glad you appreciated Peal Harbor; the oil floating on the water after all these years are like tears.
Starbucks??? Kona Coffee is one of the best coffees in the world. I couldn't stop drinking it.
Thank you Joe & Nic. Honolulu is a pretty city. And thank you for saving me a trip and 10 grand.
😂😂😂😂😂 10 K 💰💰💰💰🤣
As always thanks Joe for another one of your honest opinion easy flowing video. 🙏Yep for people who have not been there it seems like a great getaway place, but as you showed it would be a real hole in the wallet kind of a vacation if one comes with a moderate budget without knowing the score .
aloha kākou (Joe Nic and everyone) so exciting to see Hawaii from your lens. Thank you for visiting and filming the USS Arizona Memorial. My grandfather survived that conflict at the ripe old age of 17.
Thank you for doing this. I wanted to do this about 15 or so years ago on 8K. Had to cancel due to work schedule. Never did get my reservation money back. Glad your trip was a success!😊
Greetings from Down Under, again! 🇦🇺
Loved seeing Hawaii, have always wanted to travel there, but it never eventuated. Holy cow, I was shocked at the airfares, $2765USD ($4,200AUD) from Dallas to Hawaii, that's crazy! Just to compare, return flights from Western Australia to Honolulu per person, flying Qantas, $1,585AUD ($1,050USD), takes approx 16hrs and is just shy of 11,000km (6,800miles)
But the hotel... $4,811USD ($7,297AUD) for 7 nights?
$10K+ USD for a week in Hawaii... That's cuckoo!
We plan on visiting Australia this winter (your summer). I'm hoping it's a bit cheaper!!! :)
If you do a one-stop flight from DFW to HNL it's about have that price, but you will have to spend several hours in LAX, SEA, LAS, or IAH. It's also cheaper to spend a week in Europe than HI. One of the reasons that I haven't been back to HI in 30 years.
Just fly Jetstar from Syd/mel $300 aud 9.5hr flight
Nicole places lot of faith in those balcony railings .
I thought I was the only one to notice that. Gave me the willies. With a room that high up, I would not walk onto that patio. My friends give me a ribbing when they see me avoid doing that but there’s too many instances when people have gone over the side.
That's what I was thinking. They look awfully flimsy to me. I hope they are anchored well.
The most impressive thing for Me on this Video was watching You give that Lady a helping Hand, Thanx for doing that Joe, God Bless You Sir. 😃
I loved it! The Pearl Harbor memorial was the best part, I read somewhere that Elvis did a concert in the early 60s to help get that memorial built. And that pineapple dessert at the end!! Thanks for taking us along for the ride, since I’ll never make it to Hawaii…really looking forward to the rest of the islands. I’ve been subscribed to you since early last year and was hoping you’d go there! Be safe guys.
Great presentation Joe and Nic. The plumerias are sure in bloom. Thanks for showing the not tourist areas.
Thsnk you taking us around the island and showing so many if the buildings, homes, the harbor and the canal , and of coarse the Arizona !! My father was a medic in the army stationed there on the day the bombers came in and attacked Pearl Harbor , he would never talk about it except to say it was a day of many deaths and injuries and it was a terrible day for our country !! Thank you for all your videos !! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
The strange trees are BANYAN trees .You will find a few of them in Sourhwest Florida.
They are amazing.
We call them Weeping Fig here where I live in tropical North Queensland, Australia .... they're everywhere in my town and over at Magnetic Island, 20 mins ferry ride off the esplanade
Some are that big you can sleep inside them on the beach on a balmy warm summers night
Native to India and in the Fig family. They are just amazing and almost sci-fi looking...
I took a photo standing at one on the Florida Keys. Amazing in person.
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip Pretty sure they're not indigenous to Hawaii. They're from Asia, I believe.
Aloha! Thanks for the virtual Hawaiian tour! I grew up on Oahu in the early 60s...my dad was stationed at Pearl Harbor and we lived in the naval housing in Wahiawa. That was a long time ago, and Hawaii at the time was an amazing place to be a kid. I went back a few years ago, and while it was a fun trip, the experience couldn't live up to my memories.
PS: nice dress, Nicole!
I was there 1959-1962. Two bedroom apartment in Manoa Valley was $90/ month. You could buy a decent car at Aloha Motors for $100. Hamburger steak, two scoop rice, and fruit punch for .90 at Maruzan Grill. Don’t think I’ll revisit at current prices.
You think about it, small yards are to be expected, land is at a premium there...but I agree, I like big yards also. Hawaii is great, wish I was lucky and had a winter home there, glad you have had a great time and thanks again for the video and showing how much everything is. You and I share a common thought. If you are going to be homeless....I want to be homeless in Hawaii lol.
A wonderful video ! Amazing buildings and a gorgeous beach ! Your hotel room looks beautiful, awesome views ! The chickens were very cute ! Thanks so much, Joe and Nic.🌴💖
😂❤😂❤😂 The Best fun ever!!! Great trip and video! Joe and Nic!!
Love that Nic dressed up for the occasion!
Love the sundress!
Very emotional seeing the Arizona all these years later.
Thank you for showing us your trip.
I love Hawaii!! Use to live there a few years ago. I will say it is way different living there than just visiting and thats what a lot of people who vacation there don't realize. It's a constant struggle to survive and the people who were born there are unfortunately forced to move off the island due to financial struggles. Welcome to gentrification.
Well, when tourists pay $10,000 for one week there, I think they realize it's not cheap to visit or live there.
Before I moved I paid only 600 or so to stay there for a week. It was an odd deal . Though either way. With the weird vacation package deals and such. People dont realize as much as they should to really appreciate the trip FULLY FULLY. A lot of entitled people go there expecting handouts and such. @GNMi79
Nicole is always comical. I laughed at her so much. Love you guys ❤❤❤❤
I don't think it's intentional.
Dear Joe and Nic, Thank you so much for showing and telling us all the prices and statistics and everything. Good job on this video.
It was good to see you both. I just loved the purple/yellow floral dress. Very pretty and a good look on Nicole. I enjoyed visiting Pearl Harbor. Just very sad. Looking forward to the next one.🌴
I can cross going to Hawaii off my bucket list.
Place is too overdeveloped
Was there 24 years ago not nearly that expensive. I won't be going back. It was ok.
@@TOCC50 Give 'em time!!! The other islands will eventually also be covered with concrete!!! Arrrrrghh!!!
@@TOCC50Salt Lake City Utah vibrations.
Good
Looks like you both really enjoyed yourselves on this trip. You've earned it!!
THANKS JOE AND NIC ❤...ALOHA 😊😊
Your meals look amazing. Thank you for the historical tour. 👍🌟💕
Beautiful views from the hotel! Love the lighthouse built in ‘26! Love the weather vane. Honolulu is beautiful. Iolani Palace is gorgeous ! Very cool to see Pearl Harbor. Yes that is a unique Capitol building. I do like the building built in 1870. Gorgeous beach!! I’m with Nicole on the Masubi 😂. The Hawaiian food looks delicious! Enjoyed this video! Looking forward to more HI!
Thank you, Alexandra!
I just want to say, thank you for showing us how much your trip cost, I truly appreciate it. Great video like always.
Good vid Joe, was there in 86 on the way home from Guam.... What a great memory for me. Carry on
Thank you for another great video full of information about this city. Looking forward to the next one!
I've heard the same thing about people that take cruises into the caribbean. They say the cruise ship drops you off at a touristy street, but once you get a little bit off track it becomes slum city. Same goes for Washington DC
Same thing when you cruise to Fiji or New Caledonia, anywhere in the South Pacific, really. The tourist areas are always beautiful and well presented. But walk 3 streets back from the tourist area and you see the real story. People living in the streets, poverty etc. Kept well hidden from the cashed up visitors on the cruise ships who visit this idyllic, tropical paradise.
Incredible video. I almost cried seeing all of those names on the wall at Pearl Harbour. That gratuity on your dinner bill is crazy, I live in Ireland and we pay a 12.5% included in the bill but not even at every restaurant is that expected. American tipping culture seems excessive. The food looked great though and I appreciate how you show all sides of a town or city, it really gives a more real picture of a place and I don't think it takes away from the beauty of a place, I think it enhances the experience, so thank you for a great video.
Howdy from Billings Montana...Uncle Rog Here...I keep hearing the Theme from HAWAII FIVE-0...Lol...Great Episode!!!!
Thank you Joe and Nicole for showing Hawaii, that ️I will never see ! 👏 ❤️
Greetings from Russia! 🙃
Our pleasure!
We are lucky enough to have been to Oahu many times over the years as we love it. It's a beautiful place. You showed some of the historic buildings around Honolulu and there are more such as the Bishop Museum and some interesting architecture and restaurants in Chinatown. We always rent a car as we love to travel around the island and there is much to see and appreciate! Am excited to see your next video as you explore the smaller towns on Oahu! I would also note that it is possible to do a less expensive trip as we have to since we don't have a lot of money. This video made me "homesick" for another visit!
Thank you so much, I learned more about Honolulu in this video than I had ever known before, very special.
Great vlog of DT Honolulu and cool old buildings!
Great video as always. Everything totaled up probably a 10K trip. Cant wait for your Alaska trip!
Appreciate that at 22:32. I always love looking up Google Maps and following along in your travels.
We love how you showed the glitz and glamour of Hawaii and what is true Hawaiian.
I'll be back in Febuary for a week or so. Honestly everyone should go at least once, it's not just the beach. There is amazing off roading, you can rent a super car and take one of the most scenic drives in the country, the skydiving is absolutely breath taking. Almost endless trails that lead to postcard views, best deep sea fishing in the country for sure, and so much more. Hawaii, Colorado, and Italy are my favorite places to travel.
Those Capital bldg trees are straight out of the movie Avatar! Thanks for the visit to Honolulu guys. Hawaii and Alaska are the only two states I’ve yet to visit. Great sun dresses Nicole.
26:35 In 1988 I stood there next to the listed entombed U.S. Marines and reenlisted. Fond memories of my time stationed on Oahu.
When I was stationed in Hawaii both my wife and I loved it but decided it wasn't worth it. My last duty station was in Abilene Texas and when I retired decided to give Hawaii another try. I've been living in a house with a microscopic yard for over a quarter century now.
So you helped destroy the country.
Bravo 😒
Nice story. You prolly have all you need.
And your wife?
Congrats on finally making it to Hawaii. We vacationed on the big island 2 years ago. It was beautiful and I’m grateful we experienced it, but I feel no need to return. Your videos are good comprehensive looks at where you visit. I appreciate your work.
I must be weird, I've never had any desire to go to Hawaii. Alaska is the bucket list. You and Nicole could do a whole long series of Alaska. I'm sure that's your plan sometime. You are my favorite TH-camr
I used to work with a couple that went to Alaska every summer. They loved it
I spent a week in Honolulu during Christmas about 15 years ago. Love the Island and the people. I wish I could afford to retire there.
We re in Hawaii! YAY! Thanks Joe and Nic! 😊😊😊
Joe & Nic, I’ve enjoyed your vlog of Honolulu, as an ex-islander.. yes, your pronunciation is a bit off. But entertaining… locations are right on., because I have relocated to the Bay Area for work and missed my home in Hawaii. I periodically scan through You tube to have a peek of the current state of my home town..you guys are great, Thank you for the wonderful vlog of your visit to Honolulu..Aloha..!
Pretty dress.
Thanks for taking me to Hawaii. I had planned to go before COVID. Now, I do not have to go, thanks to you.
Awesome video guys and sitting here in the cool English summer i was very jealous till i saw the costs.. £1000 a day is definitely an expensive week!! Absolutely love your videos and its given me a fresh prospective on the USA from over the pond. ❤
Pulled pork, white rice, and poi topped with a Blue Hawaii drink-YUMMY!
Nice video! I love Nicoles new sundress! The colors are beautiful
Hello from N Ireland.Loved the video. Normally watch as soon as you put on TH-cam. Been on holiday for three weeks so now catching up!! Enjoy seeing cost of meals out. Thanks
It is beautiful and thanks for covering the memorial for The Arizona may be worth a visit hate the houses tho bless you Joe for handing out some money to the less fortunate ❤ 5 stars
I went to Honolulu Sep, 2023, for my birthday. It is so beautiful & historical ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🦋🦋🦋
You honor all of us here in Hawaii. Depicting both the good and bad. Mahalo for your video!!!
Thank you for the kind words. 👍😀
So much concrete and asphalt it would have been much nicer years ago when the population was smaller. Hotel price is ridiculous $540 a night.
Very beautiful area. Thanks. You look great in the dress, Nic.
I visited Honolulu back in 1985, for a Aussie armed with pacific pesos it was not that expensive, now its way out of my pay grade. Those back suburbs remind me very much of a typical Australian beach suburb. You would hate the small yards. Looking at your expenses it would actually be cheaper for you to visit Sydney, Australia. If I can get a return ticket to LA from Sydbey for $A1100 ($750US), surely even after adding the Dallas to LA leg you would still be ballpark. Accommodation $A200 to $A400 (including 5 star Marriot), that is $132 to $260US. Taxes included, no sneaky fees. Food expensive here compared to say Asia, but similar to what I have seen you pay across USA, and no tipping and taxes included. There is quite a bit of colonial architecture in Sydney. Public transport is almost give away prices when converted to US dollars. Ferries, buses, trains. Sydney best to visit October to November, Spring comes early. Winter now to August is mild 60F's most days, but wind chill...brrrrr. December to Feb runs into school holidays and can be humid. March to May can get wet.
Looks like you’re having a great time! Looking forward to some none touristy spots. Residental areas so interesting
Really you never heard of the Spam thing ….. Spam is popular in not only Hawaii but in South Korea, the Philippines, and Japan
There was a Spam shortage a few years ago and people went crazy because they couldn’t get it 😇
I’m so glad that you are having a blast! And happy that you loved the food. I grew up with Asian fusion food and the ingredients can be found in your local supermarkets! travel costs are outrageous though!! As always, thanks for the history and taking us along!
Thanks for a very interesting road trip to Hawaii / Honolulu that you and Nicole went on. I loved it. I love how you showed us so many interesting parts including the bad. Didn't know so many homeless living on beaches! Muchisimas gracias.
Phenomenal episode, Thank yall so much for doing Hawaii.
I've always wondered what it was like.
Blessings from Texas 🙏
Thanks, Cindy!!
Brilliant!
Downtown Honolulu has the most fascinating architecture and such diversity of styles intermingled. What a metaphorical potpourri of visual please. Thanks …
What another video grand slam. I live in the heart of arkansas and F.Y.I. your trip cost more than my house. That pineapple dessert you devoured looked like the best food item ever. Thanks for taking me with you. Sincerely, Jim Thornton
As a California refuge, I have lived in west Oahu (Ewa Beach) for 20 years. Raised three kids here. Everything is different here, especially the food and people. But it's a charming place and grabs your soul, and if you can learn to roll with the punches and get in sync with the vibe, it's a wonderful place to call home and give my kids the opportunity to be raised here.
Love your style, keep rocking it!
Aww I love Nicole’s dress. It’s beautiful
Used to get rooms at the Outrigger Reef for 35 dollars a nite, so I would spend weekends in town more often than not while I was stationed at Schofield. Could still find dollar beers every once in awhile too. Waikiki sure has changed since the population surge. The 90s were good but not as great as the 70s.
Greetings from Iran .I just sat back and enjoied watching the whole vedio. And I paid nothing but just pushed a like sighn . I am prety sure many of us viewers may never go that far in our life .
Nichole looks absolutely stunning in her sun dress!! You are definitely a lucky guy buddy!! Hehehe! Take care my friend
Thanks!
Joe looks good too! Watch out Nichole!! Ha-ha
Hi Joe
Thanks for showing this isolated and remote island. Excitement is now about Alaska, another isolated state. Good Luck!
We'll be visiting Alaska in August. :)
Thanks for sharing, had no idea things were so expensive.
Never been there. Would not want to live in a hi rise. So glad you showed us some houses! All the other sites. Wonderful tour.
I live in a condo near Waikiki. Can’t afford a house here. Might have to move to Texas where my Mom lives in a house 3x the size of my condo. However, my condo costs more than her house. But the weather is great here, especially in the winter and it’s relatively close to Japan where we like to travel.
Banyan trees. They're indigenous to India. We have them here in S. Florida.
Back in the 90’s and early 2000’s, the Aloha Tower area was super busy with tourists and locals! It had a lot of shops and restaurants. It was really a happening place. I miss those times!
Some of the views and scenery were just breath taking and are the things that could only exist in videos such as this and in my wildest dreams. Of course Nicole was doing an amazing job of adding to the scenery as well. She was looking very bright and cheery. As for whether it is worth it or not, maybe not to a person such as myself who does good to get to visit my mom in South Dakota every few years. I tend to eat in restaurants where what you paid just for the two of you would cover an entire family of five. More countryfied, comfort food type places. But I do thank you for the wonderful invitation to hang out with you in such a magnificent state and will be awaiting next weeks wonderful adventure. Until then take care, stay safe and God bless.
Steve in Oklahoma
Thank you, Steve!!
Hi Joe and Nic..I really enjoyed your 'tour' of Honolulu. You're right about the overall cost. It's crazy expensive, but as long as you both enjoyed yourself, then it's worth the high cost. I totally agree what you said about clothing being cheap. Compared to prices we pay in Australia, clothing in Honolulu was a real bargain. I filled up two suitcases with Levi's, J.Crew, Banana Republic and other brands when I was last there in 2014. I bought so much that today, ten years later in 2024 I'm still wearing a lot of those clothes.
Ty Nicole and Joe wow it was worth it! U had a key west tank top on?? 😮😅. Was surprised that there was some "areas" there. Ur food tab was reasonable, 4 sure, and it looked awesome! Hope u guys have the best time ever! B safe out there.
