  • Here's a deep dive of the American Express Green Card. Having had it for a few months now, I'm excited to share what the best features of the card are, how it compares to other American Express Cards and also why I got this card specifically. I also dig into how I look at travel reward credit cards and why I'm not just collecting points all the time.
Looking to pick up one of my favorite travel credit cards for yourself. Then apply for the American Express Green Card with this link and you could get 40,000 bonus welcome points:

Dude, your vid here was just what I was looking for! I have the platinum and working on my $8K spend and I wanted to know what my wife should apply for to compliment the platinum card! Really appreciate the honest comments and after my spend for 15,0,000 points we'll go for the green Amex! Thanks!

I downgraded from Platinum to Green. I was just so overwhelmed with the Platinum. Too much work to keep track of how to get the points. I couldn’t keep up. I wish the green was a lighter metal instead of the plastic. I was disappointed when I touched the plastic green card. That’s just me. The Platinum feels so good in your hand.

    • @FahadFinance

Totally agree. That metal card feeling is unbeatable.

I really don’t think the green card works best for me, but because of how the sign up bonuses work now if I want to get into the American Express point system one sort of needs to begin with the green card. Might be worth trying for at least a year or two. Great video~

Thanks for watching. Agreed, I’d get it just for the first year to start and then move up if it’s not the best card for you long term.

If you’re currently paying for Clear and don’t have high enough status with a qualifying airline to get the price down to $150, then the Green card is a no-brainer discount on your Clear membership.
Otherwise, you should really run the numbers and see if a different unlimited 2x points everywhere or a different no-annual-fee 3x travel card like the WF Autograph would fit your life better.

    • @FahadFinance

Also worth mentioning that if you get the Gold or Platinum because of the life time language you can’t get the SUB on the green.
The strategy to maximize SUBs is Green > Gold > Platinum

I know right. The 250 annual fee was hefty to begin with. When I found out that next year I will be charged the new annual fee 325, I downgraded to the green immediately!

@Whoisbu89 , the combined annual fees. I had the BCP, gold, and green. I intentionally canceled my green right after I got it. I have the BCP as a authorized user from my husband. Loved my gold. Last week I applied for the BCP, it's on its way. This year ( as of yesterday) I downgraded my gold to green. I now have two BCP ( 12, 000 in groceries for the year) and my green card for dining and travel in my American express arsenal. I do have about 20 other credit cards. Citi custom cash is my 5 % back gas card. With no annual fee.

Amex points are only worth a shit if you’re redeeming them through a transfer for first class travel. The rest of us who don’t do that get screwed.

I have all 3 and got the SUB for all 3. At some point I might cancel the Platinum, as this Green with the Gold is a great combo. It sucks that gas is 1X, otherwise I might add the Amex Everyday Preferred for 2X, but the math doesn't add up because of the $95 AF for that card.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. You get 5x on the Platinum whether you book with the airline or with American Express travel. Where the green card stands out is hotels, Transit, cruises, and other types of travel where you can book directly with them. Very informative otherwise

Wow what an absolutely useless card so if the points are worth the basic around do you still have to spend at least $5,000 on travel or 15,000 on everything else just to break even with the annual fee definitely don't consider the clear credit worth 150.00 a year unless your company is paying for it
