Special Rescue Operation: Saving an Entangled Sea Lion

- The Marine Mammal Center's Special Rescue Operations team uses an innovative acoustic darting method to sedate and track a sea lion named Candy Corn that is entangled in fishing line. Once rescued, veterinary experts at the Center remove the fishing line around Candy Corn's neck and release him back to the wild.

Thank you Marine Mammal Center for shaving these creatures for our enjoyment and for the betterment of all life in our ecosystem great job I also wanted to comment on the video I seen before this one what people brought in a seal that had many monofilament lines wrapped around its neck I'm sure he was also rescued by somebody that is involved with sea life they were just waiting for them to get there and held him on the dock to have treatment and released

Have you guys seen Ocean Conservation Nambia?
They do this *exact same thing* every day with seals using only specialty scissors and nets while running around bare foot on the beach lol.
I watched this video and saw a ton of people and boats and a dart gun and a huge carrying case and an enclosure....and the whole time I'm like "Go get Antoine, Naude, and Denzil. They'll have this done in 5 minutes."

Please see what the OCEAN CONSERVATION NAMIBIA does. They are an amazing group who remove all types of ocean trash around the neck of seals. They also remove hooks on eyelids, in their mouths, and on their flippers. As a San Franciscan, who dragon boats in the Bay, I see seal almost every time I go to practice.

Yes!! Naude and Antoine do it without drugs, and just the scissors. They even catch the sea lions by hand most of the time! I see them help 5 ses lions in less than 10 minutes on some of their unedited videos.
